Simplifying Square Roots | Math with Mr. J 

✅ Thanks so much for watching! ✅ More square root videos in the description. ✅ Remember, perfect squares (also known as square numbers) are products of integers multiplied by themselves. For example 9 and 36 are perfect squares. 9 is the product of 3x3 and 36 is the product of 6x6. A counter example would be 15. 15 is NOT a perfect square. We can not multiple an integer by itself and get 15. ✅ The first twelve perfect squares are: 1x1=1 , 2x2=4, 3x3=9, 4x4=16, 5x5=25, 6x6=36, 7x7=49, 8x8=64, 9x9=81, 10x10=100, 11x11=121, 12x12=144. ✅ Remember, when you multiply a number by a square root, you can put the number next to the square root like in the video. A number next to a square root means to multiply.

I'm a new professional math tutor and today I had a student learning square roots for the first time. To me, square roots are something I just do without thinking. And so I was struggling to explain it in a way that anyone could understand. I realize now how strange and unintuitive of a function it is for first time learners.
