lol I'm French and until now I had never realized that laboum could mean "party" in French (well to be more accurate it'd be "the party", and it's an outdated word)

you haven't seen the Sophie Marceau movie? - that's probably where the name of this group came from - they often reference it - for example in their choreography for "aalow aalow" - where a male dancer puts headphones on one of the girls (initially on SoYeon - then later on Solbin) - you make it seems that "la boum" was slang

@@johneyon5257 Yeah ofc I know the movie, it just that 3 years ago I hadn't made the connection. They most certainly got the name from the movie rather than just looking up a dictionary, which is why I was surprised that I had never heard of that meaning for their name. It's not slang, but you can't deny most people don't actually use the word boum seriously anymore. At least I think.

@@AguAchAt - i had my suspicions when i first heard their name since it wasn't a korean word (based on its spelling) - and during interviews they would either mention that it meant "party" - or that their group represented a party spirit - then came that headphone moment in "Aalow Aalow" - and i knew for sure the koreans are familiar with many films that ordinary americans aren't - i happen to be a film buff who watched foreign films extensively - and i had a francophile girlfriend - so we saw "La Boum" way back

Little by little, seems to know the member one by one, all I knew was Solbin, Yulhee and Soyeon (Girl Spirit) but now Haein added.....(thought she was Yujeong when everyone was commenting about her)
