I met this singer once here New York City. He was walking in Times Square and my buddy from England was visiting and went up to him and my friend talked to him for like five minutes and Simply Red just had a chat with him like bros. It's amazing how humble this singer is and kind.
At 72, as I am, you've listened to a whole of music in your time, but some things stick and this song and Hucknall's voice are unforgettable. Thank you for reacting so positively to this track. Robert, UK.
I just took a stroll down memory lane. In 1989, my son was not yet 2 years old and he loved this song. It would come on the radio and you could hear him come running, then he would just sway to the music. Good times💜
You get it! When this album first came out, I listened to the entire album over and over again! I’m still not sick of it. Just really beautiful music. 🥰🥰🥰
You might remember it from when your older family members listened to it. It's a cover of the original song by Harold Melvin and the Bluenotes. An excellent cover!👍🏾👵🏿🙆🏾♀️🎶🤗
@@jodaviddagoat389 He is INCREDIBLE! A friend of mine ran into him in LA in the 90s- yelled out of her car- "We love u Red!" He waved & said- "Luv u too, luv"~😅
I've had the pleasure of seeing simply read several times they're as good live mick hucknall sooo charismatic fabulous glad you're loving it what's not to love ????? ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ there are so many fab song for my baby 👶 beautiful
I love Simply Red, Mick Hucknel has a wonderful voice full of emotion and what a fantastic voice. I am so glad you feel like I do about the song, the band and the amazing singer Jayvee. I enjoyed watching and my head was moving too lol, I was singing (awfully lol) with Mick and this was one of the last bands I saw. The last was Meatloaf another wonderful singer. A band I would like to suggest is nothing like I have heard you play, they are from the beautiful Ireland and they are Clannad, they are all great singers and they harmonise so well. The ladies have voices like Angels and I think you will like them sweetheart. Keep the lovely songs coming please my friend. Take care and stay safe please everyone Mary-Ellen UK
So pleased to see reactions to Mick Hucknall - one of my favourite artists, definitely underrated. He has such a soul voice and has so many great songs sung. Thank you so much for your reaction.
I remember when this song was on the radio in 1989 but I had no idea it was Simply Red until Many years later when I heard it on the radio agiain in the late 90s and the dj said the name of the song and band. This made me appreciate the song even more because it shows the lead singer can change up his voice to sound very different. I still love this song just as much today. Your reaction was similar to mine. haha
A little bit of trivia for you, the lead singer Mick Hucknall is from Manchester England, and he is a massive Manchester United fan, there nickname is the red devils, the band simply red is named after Manchester United, he use to have a nightclub in Miami called REDS.
This is why everyone should be open to all music. Think of what you miss when you don’t open up to all music. Love these reactions. These were the songs of my time. Glad you enjoyed it!! 🎼🎶🎼
OMG THE NOSTALGIA. Been enjoying going through your vids this evening and so much has taken me back... While other songs were of more significance to me over the years, this was just such a HUGE song to the 80s era. Phwoooo!
Even though you have reacted to this song I don't think you will regret watching him live 30 years later. Simply Red - Holding Back The Years (Live at Sydney Opera House)
Great cover and is a credit to the original which is up there with the best of all time. Soul is the name of the game. God bless Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes.❤
Originally recorded by Harold Melvin and the blue notes an r&b group from the early 70’s check out their version plus “wake up everybody” “bad luck” and “the love I lost” all nice jams with good vibes to them... enjoy and be well
Harold Melvin and the blue notes, definitely got a listen the original version. Teddy Pendergast their lead singer went on to do a solo career very successfully. Unfortunately he was in a major car accident, wasn’t able to walk Years later died because of complications in the accident, but his voice lives on
