Don't let the critics who tell you how to pronounce 'peppericka' worry you. Your Southern accent is a big part of your charm!! Keep cooking and use plenty of 'peppericka"!!
Whatever happened to “if you don’t have a nice to say, say nothing at all”. Jeez people can be so rude. I get it all the time because I have a NY accent. They must have a miserable life. Love your channel
Hi Karen! It' Teresa Bush . Once again I've enjoyed watching you fix a delicious ,Southern, comforting meal! You not only feed the tummy but you feed the soul too. Such a privilege that you make us feel like a part of your family. As for whoever got on you about how you say" paparika " , well they can just back off. Some people go through life with zero common sense. You say paparika just like you have all your life. These critics need to butt out.To me you are a true Southern Belle. and watching and learning about your suppers means alot. Take good care...PS I bet your garden tomatoes are fantastic! YUM
Just last week we were at my 88 year old mommas. For supper we fixed a big ole pan of pinto beans,we cooked a head of cabbage corn bread and a great big fresh tomato out of the garden . Talk about good!!!! Nothing like country cooking. Love from Missouri
Good morning, Karen. I absolutely love watching your videos. Today's reminded me so much of when I grew up in New Mexico/Texas (we're talking 60 yrs. ago!) and have now lived in Colorado for many years. My day care provider was a woman from Tennessee, so I grew up eating grits, brown beans and ham, cornbread, and SWEET, SWEET tea. I so remember the wonderful days of watching/helping her cook and bake in the kitchen and your videos take me back. Good memories. Thanks for that. Now, don't you pay attention to anyone who tries to correct anything said or done. They obviously haven't a clue! You do you!!! And by the way, Paula Deen pronounces paprika the same way--maybe a southern pronunciation??? You, and your family, are so welcoming and warm and I can't go a day without watching. Keep Up the good work, and thank you so much for the recipes. 💕🌾🍑
Thank you so much. I love cooking for my family and having them with me. I guess it is an Alabama thing. I know I pronounce words differently but that's me. Thanks again. Loves and hugs ❤️
This is the perfect meal.. I had that last weekend but I used black eyed peas. I’m ready for some butter beans.. I love coleslaw too. Hope you enjoyed your perfect supper. Love you sweet lady… Have a great weekend.. ❤
I would have dinner at your house anytime!!! Everything looks scrumptious! This is the first time I’ve ever seen a cooking video where scallions have been added to the meal...I thought my mom was the only one who did this! She wasn’t southern, she was a New Englander! I thoroughly enjoy your videos, keep them coming! ❤
Hey Karen. I’m Kim from Australia and I absolutely love your videos! Have reminded me that cooking can be simple, delicious and doesn’t take much time at all! ❤️
Just don’t you dare let anyone tell you how to talk . You be you and don’t apologize to anyone. Love your videos and I just can’t believe how many people get on here and try to be keyboard warriors ❤
Oh my goodness that looks so GOOD! And, you call paprika any way you want to. Good grief, people have nothing better to do but to give their "opinion". You are wonderful.
That kind of cooking is how I was raised also and I still cook like that today. I have to be careful with salt intake but cook meals like this as a treat. 😊
One of my favorite meals !!! Oh my goodness!!! Everyone pronounces words differently!!!! Depends on where you were raised and where you live !!!! So don’t you bother letting someone nitpicking silly stuff cross your mind ! Geez !!! Thanks for sharing with us ! God bless !
I'm surprised you don't compost your vegetable scraps since you like to garden. It makes a wonderful amendment to your soil and is basically free fertilizer! We even occasionally get free plants that sprout up from the seeds (like tomato or pepper). BTW you can cut off the root ends of those green onions, stick them in your garden and pretty soon you'll have free onions, too.
I do compost some. I do the same with the collard greens, has to be the whole end, not just stalks. I haven't had any luck with the green onions but I keep trying.
I watch ALOT of RU-vid cooks......but none have the intuitive ability to cook like you do! I've been cooking for close to 50 years & YOU KNOW HOW TO COOK! Lisa in San Diego
Comfort meal at it's best. There's nothing wrong with buying ready-made coleslaw mix. I've never put Dill Relish in my Coleslaw, but I will be trying it. Thanks for sharing your recipes, Karen. 🙂❤️
I made fried potatoes for dinner last night. They were good, but I wish I had watched this video beforehand. Your fried potato recipe looks so delish 😋
Wow!! What a a amazing dinner. Karen you are amazing, please adopt me 😊. You got a great man also in Mr. Jones with that kiss 💋 and helping make your plate before his. We love you all and your family 💖💖
Now that truly is a good ol' southern meal....sooooo good. Makes my mouth water Karen. Miss Patchy will be wanting to snack on the ham bone from the beans....lol. Thanks for saving us a place in your kitchen. Love, Hugs and Blessings.
Patchy loves ham. She is so picky though, it must be Hillshire Farms Black Forest. Any other, she will turn her nose up and walk away. Love having you in my kitchen with me. Loves and hugs ❤️
Oh wow, I love ham. We used to get a game dinner at Bill Knapp’s, and they always served it with a cherry sauce. They couldn’t keep in in stock! Lol! And they had lots of cubed potatoes in a cheese sauce that always sold out. Your supper looks delicious! ♥️ Bless you and your family. 🕊🙏♥️
Honey, Bob was out of his mind watching this video!!! I should have put him on the plane to come to your home as you suggested!!! LOL. What a great southern dish!!! Loved this!!❤❤❤
Try Dijon spicy mustard rubbed on chicken ,then apply bread crumbs seasoned, and bake 350 degrees for one hour..Hope you can read this, going to have cataract surgery in both eyes, cannot see well..Love your shows❤
I love watching you cook, Karen! The easier and quicker I can put a meal together is right down my alley. Since you and I are about the same size, would you mind telling me where you get your pretty tops? You always have a pretty one on. Thanks!
Sometimes my mom would use bacon grease in the skillet for the corn bread......I miss her. My best friend of more years than I care to say...still talks about my mom's fried chicken. You remind me so much of her right down to the accent.....
Girl, wish I was there!!!! That sounds and looks delicious. Girl you pronounce your words the way you want, we are all different, but that doesn't make it wrong.
👍 Angle good Karen. This is a Southern meal. My mom always made sure my Dad and us had a good Dinner or Supper. I try to do the same. Everything looks good. There's nothing wrong in taking help with a store bought item. Who worry if out tongue don't always pronounce a word right. Our Heart is in the right place. Sometimes we add a little more butter, a little more mayo. That's what makes it soo good.🙂. Love and hugs to you and pop Jones.🥰🤗. Love, Respect and Positivity Always. Vee, Andrew and Family.✌️🕯️💕🙏🙂👋👣.
Yes, your camera is much better sweet lady. And now when you edit you can use the zoom and it will bring it in where you want it. As a YT creator, it took me a while to learn as well. Your supper looked delicious, take Care and Blessings Y’all’s way🌷
Hey Miss Karen...Im new & I have been catching up watching your videos...Im enjoying them so much! You cook like me & my Mama...we live in Texas & yes this us a country supper...we also eat tomatoes, cucumbers green onions or a big chunk of white onion with our meals...here are some things I've noticed in videos I'm watching & maybe you don't mind answering: 1. You peel your tomatoes ...I've never seen that done ...have you always done this 2. You have such an easy going manner about you & soothing voice.. did you ever teach Sunday School 3. I like how you involve us as your cooking & ask " do ya'll do it this way" or say " tell me what yall think" 4. The camera angle is good 5. Pronounce words however you want, you are you...if anyone doesn't like the how you say a word they can fast forward...easy fix 6. Pop Jones apologized in a video for interrupting...tell him he was not interrupting, we enjoy his company...like you, he seems so down to earth & friendly...& it is awesome how he kisses you ...his love for you really shows...ya'll remind me of my parents So glad I found your channel...ya'll have a good evening...
Thank you, sweetheart. To answer: 1. I peel tomatoes mostly because that's how he likes them. 2. I have never taught Sunday School only attended 3. I feel as if you are all in my kitchen, after all, I'm doing this to share with each of you. 4. Thank you 5. Thank you again. Some habits are hard to break and I've lived in Alabama all my life. 6. I tell him all the time he's not interrupting. 😉 Thank you for joining me in the kitchen. Hope to see you soon. ❤️❤️
@@KarenJonesFoodFamily yes and I love a good bowl of butter beans, which are large limas And cornbread with a slice of onion and some mix greens nothing finer than that amen
I seem to remember Paula Deen calling it "paparika" also. I thought it was cute when she did and it's cute when you do it. Don't change for anyone or anything. People like you just the way you are.
I don’t prefer the angle in this video, I liked how you did it before. You can’t see what your doing as good with this angle but I’ll watch either way 😋
Haven't watched in awhile glad I watched today. Love everything you make it so easy I rarely have ham cause Mr doesn't eat any pork normally do once a year and freeze rest. Hubby loves your cooking and arrives just in time. Love it
You two are a cute couple :) I like how you have all the components of the meal prepared in a timely manner. I'm going to copy your cole slaw recipe. I've never tried making it with relish (personally, I prefer the sweet relish.)
Hi Karen: Question: when preparing the cornbread you indicated White Lilly flour - but did you mean White Lily Self-Rising Buttermilk White Cornmeal Mix Enriched? I see that on Amazon. Thanks. Diana
Girl, you do you and don't worry about all the keyboard know-it-all's. Some people seem to feel a need to blab whatever rude ridiculousness pops into their head. Your videos make me happy and HUNGRY! 😋You and your hubby are so cute. I'm drooling over your garden tomatoes. Isn't it funny how people are so particular about their mayo? It seems like whatever you grew up with is what you like. We don't have Duke's here, but I ordered it from Amazon - delicious. I went through a phase where I was testing a bunch of different kinds of mayos. But I can't do that on the regular because it was expensive. I love Best Foods (Hellman's) best. Oh! I just had a thought, a sandwich with Best Foods mayo and a nice thick slice of one of your tomatoes! And for some reason I'm craving ham all of a sudden.😉 💖💗 (I hope none of this was rude or ridiculous) 🤪🤪🤣🤣
Thank you. I like Dukes or Hellmann’s mayonnaise. They are the best. These tomatoes are delicious. We had BLT's for dinner last night. I sliced a Cherokee Purple and fried a couple of green tomatoes. They were so good. 😋😋❤️❤️
I'm from Wisconsin so definitely not from the South...One of my favorite meals is ham, fried potatoes, coleslaw and corn.... you just had cornbread. Beans would have been great too but for me it has to be green beans. Here in the North we don't eat all those carbs together. Our coleslaw is usually the sweeter creamy kind. Never had it with relish. I bet that's good. Another great video Karen. I really enjoy seeing the hubby too... the kiss was sweet... And by the way where do you store all these small appliances? Your counters never seem to be cluttered...
