I’ve always been partial to Herman’s voice. I know it’s just Harry doing a bush impersonation, but dammit it’s so mellow. But he’s not as a regular like snake is, and I fully agree with you, Snake has to be my second favorite voice. It’s so outlandish and over the top, but yet also so familiar and soothing.
Simpsons Theory: Snake's forehead dent isn't random or an animation quirk. He's actually pulling a The Prestige on us. A.K.A. Snake has a twin brother that shares his jail time. Only one of them actually owns the car though.
Also he is seen with two different sons, one being Jeremy and more commonly seen but also the one gloria was pregnant with. could be that has 2 sons but since he's only usually seen with one at a time it could be that one belongs to each of them.
He did have a brother in that one episode where they were pulling a three-card-monty con. One of them was the audience plant. And yes, the forehead X is clearly a Manson reference.
Snake's most impressive talents are when he played 3 Card Monty with Homer without any sleeves and correctly guessing Homer did not use premium gas when filling up his car Lil' Bandit.
Actually, there are techniques for 3 card Monty without sleeves! I’ve pulled it off for friends a couple of times. I’m not good enough to make any money off it, but I’m guessing a talented man like Snake could.
I'd be interested to see Miss Hoover. She's one of the few characters who has been around since almost the very beginning but is used very, very sparingly. She certainly never got close to the development that Mrs Krabappel did, despite having easy access to Lisa stories.
She just feels like Mrs. Krabappel without the development. They both started the same, except Hoover never actually changed or got the spotlight. But then again, she's Lisa's teacher, besides jokes about Hoover being annoyed with Lisa's eagerness, what else can you do?
She actually did get a spotlight episode in the most recent season and we even got to see a bit of her home life in Season 32's "Sorry not Sorry." It was pretty refreshing to see Miss Hoover get a whole spotlight episode when she was mostly just a minor character for 32 seasons. Still, I think it's a good comparison between her and Mrs. K who obviously gets way more screen time and importance than Miss Hoover does, even after her death. So yeah, I'd love to see a Simpson's history of Miss Hoover!
I binge watched the show a couple years ago.And I gotta say there's some real political undertones she makes a comment about how he says a PC thump. And how women can't get dates because women are so liberal or something along those lines.
Simpson’s Mysteries: “The Simpson Gene” Does it exist? Is Homer’s stupidity caused by the crayon in his brain or the gene? If the latter, why is Herb successful (kinda)? Bart is focused after being drugged up, are the men in the family more likely to be affected by ADHD? Just putting it out there
Is the so called Simpsons Gene actually just ADHD with a primary hyperactive presentation in the men and inattentive presentation with hi levels of hyper focus and hyper fixation in the women leading them to more success due to being fixated on their goals?
I was reading a book about that recently lol. The gene for intelligence is from the mother's side so the whole thing is moot. The book is "What's Science Ever Done For Us?" by Paul Halpern.
Does anyone else think Homer is the most successful "unsuccessful" person they've ever seen? Both of my parents have six figure jobs and the Simpson house is about the same size as our house, while they have a bigger yard. The Simpson gene is about as bullshit as the Kennedy curse: People seeing arbitrary connections.
@@lShishkaBerryl I thought the whole thing was that the gene is on the Y chromosome, which comes from the father? Was that retconed or am I misremembering?
That forehead mark is more likely a reference to Charles Manson who originally carved an x into his forehead prior to his trial as a statement meaning "I have "X'd myself from your world". He later turned it into a swastika for shock value.
No question. Hank Azaria deserves so much credit for so much of the Simpsons. Apu. Snake. Moe. Wiggum. Dr Nick, Professor Frink, Disco Stu, Duffman, Supernintendo Chalmers. All the same man, so many unique voices that we love.
Simpsons Mysteries: 744 Evergreen Terrace, see if it is possible to plot a somewhat accurate floorplan to the Flanders' house like you did with the Simpsons' house.
probably could be done, though if you go into more obscure locations like maybe the Van Houtens' house you might have issues... Skinner's house would be interesting seeing as that's where the hams were steamed
I always feel like I have a great mental picture of any location that was used in Simpsons: Hit and Run, but even in that game we never got inside the Flanders' home. Plus, I don't think they rebuilt their fallout shelter.
Calling Snake a "jobber" both perfectly describes his role as a loveable character that never gets his big win and also shows that TheRealJims is a real wrestling fan 👀
Half a minute in, I can’t believe I forgot about Snake’s son. Do you think he’s friends with Kerney’s kid? ETA My absolute favourite Snake moment is when he’s in that therapy session with Apu. I don’t know why - it just amuses me
"and they'll never suspect me, professor Jailbird!" snake has always had some of my favorite one liners. also my suggestion for next histories is Frink, there was a lot tucked away i forgot about with the local nutty professor.
Best Duffman line for me is during Oktoberfest: "Duffmensch orders you to party! This Reich will last a thousand beers! Ooh Ja!" (Hangs head in shame) "I do this and I'm Jewish..."
A character that I'm interested in, is that one guy with the gray mustache. I'm not sure if he has a name, but they always use him for different kinds of jobs, and he probably has more screen time than Prof. Frank or Willie at this point.
For me Snake was oddly memorable in the Simpsons Road Rage and Hit and Run. Mostly Hit and Run though. For some reason I always got the vibe that the guys at Radical Entertainment really liked him. He was in a lot of the missions and he'd go "Whoa Radical!" When you booted the game up and saw their logo.
I've never though of this before, but i would love to see an whole episode of Sideshow Bob and Snake together, they could make some interesting adventures. And speaking of minor characters used sparingly over the whole series, i nominate either Duffman or Lindsay Naegle for the next one. (PS: 1:30 S A M P L E)
I'd like to see either Miss Hoover and/or Mr. Largo. They're characters who were mostly side characters until they got very recent spotlight episodes. They both serve as more antagonistic roles to Lisa, a contrast to Edna who at least tried to help Bart.
@@karnickel-s33d16To my recollection, Snake is usually foiled in a comedic way, where Homer always goes for it and does illegal acts all the time. Lenny and Carl weren't the first pe
I love Snake. He's always been one of my favorites. Honestly I thought his full name was Snake Plisskin, I don't know where I came up with that. I must have thought he was a reference to Escape From New York. (Also you do all three of the bullies in one video. The Jimbo, Kearney and Dolf special)
This begs the question: how would have Snake fared in *Oz* ? Would he be a loner like Ryan O'Reily, Nikolai Stanislofsky or Jia Kenmin, or would he join a gang, and which?
Idea for a Simpsons Mysteries: Who is "El Barto"? Does no one in town really know who it is? Will they ever find out? And who was the short-lived copycat graffiti artist, "El Homo"?
I would love to see a very minor character get a spotlight next, someone who hasn't gotten an episode to themselves on the show and mostly appears just for quick scenes, very much like Snake. I think someone like Jasper, Captain McAllister or the Duffman would be interesting. Could make for a smaller episode as opposed to a larger projects.
You gotta admit it certainly is wild, to think about the fact that Snake has been in the Electric Chair about 6 or 7 times by now, but has only actually died once and that was in a Halloween episode, so it doesn’t count. Snake seems to have a knack for surviving near to death experiences! He’s like a cat with Nine Lives! Also Snake and Wiggum have so many fun moments. I think they’ve helped make each other more popular over the years.
"Oh no! Bette Midler!" is probably my favorite Snake moment, too. It's such a good guest spot for her and Snake's line is where I start to lose it laughing at that bit.
Maybe an episode on Cletus? Curious if he ever had his own moments to shine besides sacrificing himself to (almost) save all of Springfield in the movie.
If you want to get real obscure, how about Charlie? He was featured as a third member of the work crew with Lenny and Carl and was part of some funny gags ("I wont bore you with the tale of our miraculous escape") - at a certain point he was dropped.
Yay, finally a Snake Histories! Thank you for this. Also as a general note all of these character histories are fascinating looks into how various eras reached further and further for characters to fill in the plots without just making a thousand one-off designs like the newer seasons seem to finally be doing a lot more of. (Though i might be biased in that analysis, old simpsons still did that plenty)
Snake has to be the 9th character who the writers love having subversions in showing off how cultured this thuggish character actually is. They did the same for Barney, by showing his artistic & intelligent side. Its a great joke but it is being used on way too many characters. I half expect Otto to suddenly start quoting Shakespeare classic quotes.
Please do Eddie and Lou as a duo for a Simpsons History! I feel like Eddie is really underdeveloped and I'd like to see what you can dig up about him, but you can't have one without the other!
I agree, I would also like that someday they would make a video about these little-known Persians, Eddie was once my favorite characters, although he is still interesting to me, I have doubts that he is a good person, I know the fact that he likes to beat people with a club, I don't think he's that smart, I don’t think he’s so smart and good, unlike Lou, Lou is really smart, with a good memory this fact was shown in one episode when he arrested Mr. Burns for stealing the painting 30 years ago, and Lou learned the painting thanks to him Burns got arrested, I also feel that he is a good character, even a little vulnerable when Wiggum yelled at him and even insulted him, Lou took offense at him.
Still want my Simpsons Histories about the bullies, specifically Dolf (as he's the least developed of the trio). From Kearney having lived through the 70s with Otto to Jimbo being a bald coward with an on/off relationship with Chalmers' daughter, I want to dig through the layers of Springfield Elementary's baddest.
It's very interesting that Snake's son is actually a friendly kid, amazing considering the bad lessons his father teaches him! I definitely like that Jeremy and Bart are friends. Snake is a very fun criminal guy! Also please do a History video for Lindsay Negal! I really want to see hers!
I seriously think that there should be a Simpsons Histories on Maggie Simpson. Much as I adore TheRealJims season restrospectives, Maggie is nearly always absent from the analysis. She's gone through so much over the years, including an attempted murder and her own spin-off short film amongst other things, but she is always tragically overshadowed by her vocal elders.
Eddie and Lou as a duo. I don't really think of either of them as really "in" Springfield as much as they kind of go wherever Wiggum goes, and it'd be cool to hear more about those two weirdos.
The Bette Midler scene was funny cause either he saw her so much doing his crimes to have this reaction or in the Simpsons universe, she just does this to every criminal…
A great analysis of one of my favorite minor characters. Maybe current Snake doesn't have the genuine threat that he did in earlier seasons, but he's usually the best part of any given scene he has a speaking role in. Also, disregarding later archaeological backstories, I always figured Snake had that "like, totally disarming valley-boy accent" because he drifted in from the West coast (presumably after drifting in from the EAST coast after his Middlebury/Harvard years) who just kinda ended up in Springfield and stuck with it as a hunting ground thanks to its poorly-defended convenience stores and inept law enforcement.
That's interesting I've never thought about the forehead thing before. I guess I always thought it was like a crease or wrinkle or something from a facial expression
I'd honestly be very interested in Kent Brockmen getting a simpsons histories. He's a character I've known about ever since I watched the simpsons years ago, but he never really left an impression on me. It's only after rewatching some seasons when I realised how funny he can be. The main examples being deep space Homer and Bart gets famous.
Snake has the best looking car in the Simpsons. Hes just a character you want to hang out with even if hes a criminal. Hank Azaria just brings something to Snake that keeps you intrigued and honestly on his side. I would love to see Sideshow Mel get his limelight since he seems like a tragic character being cast as a sideshow when he could be a respected actor
In the French version of the Simpsons, Snake is sometimes translated by Viper or Cobra, depending of the episodes and seasons. I guess he really likes to have many, many aliases.
It seems like the artists constantly forget which ear is pierced for Snake. It looks like it should only be his right ear, but you can find shots where his left ear is also pierced, but most of the time it isn't.
I am once again going to argue for Jasper Beardly. So many of his lines are comedic gold. Other than that, Lindsey Neagle or Lou the cop could be interesting (Really, I'm not fussy. Do anyone.)
Great video. Snake is one of those perennially excellent side characters. But please do Moe next. He’s a multi-faceted, strangely talented slimeball and a great subject for one of these. Cheers!
To think he missed the opportunity at being the one who shot Mr Burns because he was in the can. Kearney's vague age could serve as a good Simpsons Mystery.
