Granted, those movies all bombed at the box office because their audience is used to light-hearted movies with talking animals, but still, they have taken those chances.

Usually these mk64 mods just change the character sprites nothing more. This is a total overhaul. Very nice. New voice clips, new items, some things have been changed on the stages.

It's nice to see any N64 romhacks, but I'd only consider it a total overhaul if they changed the race tracks and music. Super Mario Kart has some nice total overhauls.

Fun fact: Homer, Bart, Marge, Lisa, Apu, Chief Wiggum, Krusty and Flanders are playable characters in The Simpsons Road Rage. In that game they all drive cars, so this could be the reason why the team behind this hack chose these characters, including Bart and Lisa. Kang and Kodos also appear in the ending of the GameCube version of that game, so this could be the reason why one of these alien siblings replaced Lakitu. The major difference is that this is a racing game and there's only eight characters, while The Simpsons Road Rage has 17 playable characters, in this game only racing cars are used, this game is a racing one instead of helping other characters get to their houses/work in Road Rage, and this game can be played by 1-4 players, while Road Rage can only be played by 1 or 2 players. (well you know why: this game is a hack of Mario Kart 64...)

Wish to see someone do Touhou Kart 64. That would be a rom hack where all characters from MK64 are replaced with characters from Touhou Project. There’d be Reimu, Marisa, Sakuya, Patchouli, Hong, Cirno, Remilia and Flandre all racing against each other on MK64 tracks. Wish that was a thing.

Game limitations, not unless they would find a way to hack the code to add an additional slot for the characters and tracks (Just like in CTGP-DS (the most well known Mario Kart DS extended mod))

with some digging i found the rom from another source. didn't know this existed till half hour ago. my kids are playing on my n64 recently as I'm a console collector. they are old enough now so bought an everdrive the other day. I'm searching for anything they will like now
