Physics master's graduate here: The maths for the Higgs Boson existed for years before it was actually discovered. We knew what the mass was supposed to be and looked for a particle that matched. My guess is that they just used the papers that had already been written on it to make it accurate in the show. I've seen some other comments saying overwise but this was my first thought!

No man. The Simpon's writers actually predicted it and told the physics people to make the papers. And the Higgs Boston maths news that you've learned was only revealed AFTER the simpon's episode was being written. Then it was voiced over, animated, and released on air years later to give you the illusion the Higgs Boston equation came first.

In season 11 episode 18, they predicted Snapchat. Snapchat was created in 2011 and season 11 was 1999. In the episode, a man on an advert said "Snapchat us your pictures"

The Higgs Boson was predicted in 1964, and confirmed to exist in 2012. The Simpsons just used an already existing formula which turned out to be correct like people predicted.

The Simpsons did actually kinda detect the Higgs boson particle. They made a formula that was the basis for the discovery. While this may seem amazing, it's not really. Most of the writers for the show were mathematicians and used the show to display their work. They even wrote a book about the Simpsons and the maths behind it!
Lemme clear it once and for all, the particle's mass was predicted in 1964 itself, the practical experiment happened much later. This was no prediction, just the presence of the particle, and the authenticity of the already existing equations was confirmed with the experiment.

The equation shown with numbers to the power of 12 isn’t actually true, it’s meant to be a disproof of Fermat’s last theorem, but the numbers used just happen to be very close to being correct. I’m not sure on the higgs boson part of the prediction, but I imagine that while the particle hadn’t been discovered yet the equation wasn’t necessarily specific to the god particle and the guy in the video is just making it seem crazier than it actually is

I think it’s the equation for it that hadn’t been discovered, Simpson’s does have a team of top mathematicians for some reason as well so I’d guess they were involved. I think I’m also right in saying it’s not a 100% accurate formula in the Simpson’s just the closest one created. This may all be wrong please do your own reading ✌️

The formula for the boson particle was already a theory, but not proven yet when the Simpsons made that episode. Some physicists from the writers team knew about it and was convinced it was true before it was proven and they decided to put it in an episode

@@mra9k it’s not Harry’s fault and it has nothing to do with the comments. They have a schedule for a certain amount of videos where they make sure everyone of them appears equally after after a certain time (after 1 year I guess) and in the beginning Harry had alot of free time and therefore he said that he could record several videos in a row in the beginning but now to balance it out, others appear more often.
Higgs bison has actually been around since the 1950s just wasn't famous then and was throw away work and the Simpsons just used because people thought it was useless

the higgs particle was conceptualized and theorized by peter higgs back in the 60's , it was later then discovered by lhs(large hadron collider) , but the calculation was the one given by higgs in the 60's

My mom said she heard a man breathe heavily into the mic of someone's phone, when it was just my mom and Amber in the call. She said after it went quiet she asked Amber if she heard the strange man too, and Amber responded with "yes". They assume that someone on Facebook was listening to their private phone call without their consent. To this day this story still scares me so I just use Instagram or snapchat to call people. I wonder if anyone else has had something similar happen to them.
