the models are awful, ill give the maps a go since it uses the same engine. im currently trying to get the simpsons game models working which are wayy better and use cel shading
Radical Entertainment also reused alot of assets, mainly sound ones, from their other games on it. And continued to do that with future games. Basically, Radical copied both GTA and their own stuff.
Larry you're on almost all the comment sections of the videos that I watch... I've been watching a lot of LJN defender and always see you on there even though it was from years ago
They are a lot of fun, in certain places they don't quite flow but the template of the show really allows for some more creative designs in the later ones.
i agree. mix understanding that the impossible is not actually impossible with a lack of cultural awareness and you get funny name for a trick in a kids game
I'd love to see you stream these sorta things. The community can help you with things that you alone can't figure out and I'm sure the social aspect will make it feel like less of a grind to play it
I played this as a kid.. maybe I can give a few tips to help you get to the next level? Ok I think you had perfect balance because every time you jump into another grind it resets to perfect... so ollie to 50-50 to ollie etc combo keeps it dialed.. Also I think there’s a goals checklist in the start menu or somewhere.. those items you’re going after don’t help with unlocking levels...
Haven't thought about this game in years but it came out when I was in high school and I remember so badly wanting to like it. I didn't expect much from the engine, but I was excited to be able to skate around a virtual Springfield. The only 3D Springfield experience I really had up until that point was Road Rage and Virtual Springfield on the PC. Simpsons skateboarding was far worse than I could have ever anticipated and it had no enjoyable moments. Thank you for taking one for the team and reviewing it. Also love your other videos!
Eh I don't know about that. IMO American wasteland was the last good one. Proving Ground is not nearly as bad as any of the games that came after it. Not by a long shot. Still not good though.
2 years old reply but not really it is in all of their contracts that they voice the characters for different mediums with special exceptions rarely allowed. This it to protect the brand
but also comparatively this doesnt look bad compared to most of eras games, he didnt mention anything like crashes or glitching and honestly even hit and run has pretty bad controls and physics but its piss easy to complete the game anyway. still... semantics. someone gives 0 to literally unplayable things, someone gives 0 for a game thats frustrating and has nothing noteworthy. i feel the same way about dragon age 2 and would give it a 2 or at very best a 3. 0 was unused until steam direct became a thing with literally barely started games asking for money
I remember liking this . It's like a for everybody skate game . Hearing the characters voices alone makes it worth it . Bart's an 80 skater seems they joke around by saying blunt grind and stuff
PLEASE review Proving Ground next! It's the only Tony Hawk game you haven't done. Well, aside from Pro Skater 5.....but I wouldn't wish that hell on anyone.
Harry I don't know why the devs made it look complex. They're just quarter circles, half circles, and full circles. It would probably screw with the turning though
When in a grind you have to jump and go back into a grind to get the distance.. essential childhood knowledge from the playground that made you a valuable don. Don't get me started on Simpson's road rage tips..
Honesty, there must have been something wrong with your game. I did a LP of this a while back and managed to get to the last level (there are like 15+ levels) but didn’t finish as it was far too frustrating. I am pretty sure I didn’t 100% any level.
bietch pls. did YOU do the gorge? I don't remember you ever jumping the gorge. don't you be lying bout that last level stuff. No One Forgets The Springfield Gorge.
Hey Rad Rat. I've just found your channel and have been binging all your videos (they are really great, btw) but this one has really took me back. Watching this, I remember a time when I was ~10 years old and I would play ANYTHING, and therefore, I ended up playing this abomination (remember the Simpsons Wrestling for ps1 as well? jesus ...). The ridiculous turning circle and cruel balance meter brings back so many memories, but I remember I ended up getting really into the game (not saying much, I would play ANYTHING) and completing it. Looking back now, I can't believe how good I was at video games back then, and how much patience i had for crappy games. Since then, I have completed a degree in Maths, and a PhD in Neuroscience.... but neither of those achievements compare to working my way through this piece of shit. Thanks for those memories bro.
Dude, you didn't even get to the good levels like burns' mansion! Yeah the controls are janky but it's nowhere near as bad as you make it out to be. It's unbalanced & unpolished but some of the level design can be really fun once you know what you're doing.
I remember getting this game years ago. The graphics on the cover reminded me of Simpsons Hit and Run... God, I was wrong. This game was meh to me back then (I WAS 8 years old, after all), but now I know that it's fucking awful. To think this game came out a year AFTER Road Rage (One of the best Simpsons games)
You should try Disneys extreme skate adventure, its very similar to this and came out near to it if i remember right, maybe it is slightly more playable.
I stopped playing that game after I got to the level, Itchy and Scratchy land, and it pissed me off because of the damn mission....activate the switches for the axe pool, then lure both Itchy and Scratchy into the pool...I kept doing for hours and hours and....I gave up.
I'll be honest. That was one of the worst goals too. And i blame it on Itchy. Such a pain to move Itchy. The only trick i can tell you is hold the jump button, go slow but not too slow and careful push Itchy into it. Then deal with Scratchy. It's annoying and requires some patience.
To be fair, if you search, someone (not me) did a 100% LP of Simpsons Skateboarding, and did it as Bart. And it's a good LP. He does kickflip a good few times. Clips exist now. The earth can live another day. Before you say it, i would've loved to make some clips of Bart gameplay in the game, but i only ever did one character the entire time in my LP (Homer) and trying to run the game on my PS2 in it's state is like trying to 100% the game. It's painful, it takes too long and it usually takes a crapton too many attempts for it to work.
Its still better than Simpsons wrestling. At least this game actually resembles skateboarding unlike Simpsons wrestling which has nothing to do with wrestling.
Even though that game sucks cause it essentially dumbed down and made so much of what made THPS4 good, pretty much crap, and i honestly think is worse than Simpsons Skateboarding just for being more insulting mechanically and more unfun then Simpsons Skateboarding was.
If you like open world games you should get Saints Row 2 Theres a mod called gentleman of the row which lets you ride a skate board which is quite fun it's from 2008, started development in 06' so is themed from that era which is pretty mad IMO.
Xindictive That's very ironic coming from you. I swear you are just making up excuses now. You know so you don't have to type a huge paragraph on another Rad Rat video, haha.
I'm not. Multiple people have been unable to play the game as the servers went down a while ago. People have even been trying to refunding the game because of it. I even tried to play it recently. I can't. Outside of the tutorial, with the servers down, it's basically dead as you cannot enter any level without the server. I even tried the trick of trying to enter and logging off PSN to get in. No luck.
You JUST got it? Why? Why would you want to torture yourself like that? Also, he's doing all the Tony Hawk games in order. Next is Proving Ground. He's taking a break from the Tony hawk games right now though.
I ended up renting this game from Hollywood Video when it came out because I was desperate for another skateboarding game. Terrible fucking game, but I had two copies of the game in the case, so of course I ended up taking one. Not the first time that happened at the Hollywood Video, either. Got a random copy of NHL 2K when I rented a JRPG.
