That's the stuff. I can't fit a cockpit or a wheel stand, but I reeeealllly wanna upgrade from my G29. If the 5 nm won't brake your table, i'll buy it :)
14:00 quick maths: 20 nm at 60% and 35% is 4,2. 8 nm at 80% and 70% is 4,48. so yeah, about the same. so why would anyone now get a 1200€ DD1, when they can get a CSL DD for a third of the cost
I just got a CSL DD Pro, and I have a DD1. I had to see the difference. MIND BLOWN. The CSL DD with boost kit is insane. It really does feel like 10-12nM. I compared this on my DD1, and in the end… I put my DD1 up for sale the same day I got my CSL DD pro. I definitely know you feel a little more detail in FFB over DD1, but more importantly its more intense at comparable levels. I can’t say its 10-12nM, but it feels like it… its strong as hell. DD1 is not necessary. CSL DD with boost kit is all you need. Enjoy your life.
Pre-ordered this with boost kit (as its the only way I'll ever own a DD due to price). Can't wait until October for it to arrive (according to the order details anyway). Major step up for me as I have a TMX at the moment.
ive hurt my hands on my csw 2.5 during crashes and such, dont really understand why people insist on higher than 8 nm for home use. You really can hurt yourself and it shouldnt be considered a toy
Having a TMX at the moment too. Or well had one until I sold it a few days ago. I think I’ll preorder the CSL DD in a few days too. also with the Boost kit and a GT3 R wheel which is going to be a bit expensive but I think a major step up.
I already recieved the McLaren GT3 wheel & CSL pedals. Preordered back in June in wave 1. Just waiting on the base & boost kit now. Order info shows delivery by the first week of September. So only a couple more weeks to go. I can't wait! As always love the content Jard! Keep up the hard work mate 👊
@Jardier I’m an older guy and only recently got into sim racing on ACC. Already I can see that my g923 is holding me back a bit. With two daughters a lot of my cash seems to vanish into thin air, so if I want to upgrade I need to make sure I have a target $$$ amount which I need to put a little money away each paycheck to make sure I buy the right thing first time. Jardier, this review and the one about the Mclaren wheel, help me immensely, so thank you. Once I have saved up I’ll use your link to buy the CSL DD Mclaren v2 Elite Bundle 8nm. This one seems like the perfect fit for me. thanks again for your review.
Great video, already know i'm getting a CSL DD as soon as it was revealed, glad to watch you actually using the thing and having it meet all of my own expectations, i just need to use it myself now :)
I’ve got one. Tried the 5nm and it was similar to the csl elite. Plugged in the boost kit.. JEEEZZUSSS. Jards is not even exaggerating. It was the same for me!!! Wow!!!
Very enthusiastic review Jardier 👍 Mine has finally shipped so should see this it in a week or so. Upgrading from G25 after 16 years! Very impressive Logitech! Can’t wait to get my hands on this.
Thank you for the review Jardier, This will be my next upgrade in the future and will got the 8Nm boost kit. With my chest that comes apart still like it does, There is No use getting a DD1. There is No way I could handle That kind of power so this will be perfect for me.
Thank you Jardier , right now I'm at the bottom of the barrel with the T150 but I just ordered everything , the CSL DD with booster pack , CSL Elite pedals , CSL Elite McLaren steering wheel , table clamp and quick release adapter. I sim race in VR , I'll be doing a live unboxing and testing on my channel and I'll gladly let you know what I think although I don't think I'll be disappointed given what I'm currently working with 💪💪💪
When I had a Thrustmaster T-150, I couldn't believe how fast you could take turns, because I'd skid off the track at those speeds. But once I got the CSL DD with 8nm boost, I could actually feel all the undulations in the road, and the FFB throwing the wheel back and forth somehow allows me to take turns faster! So in my case, upgrading the wheel made more difference in lap times than the CSL Elite V2 pedals I also got. Because the T-150 just has really weak and bad FFB.
Just got an e-mail by Fanatec: "Dear Customer, We have some great news! Your CSL DD pre-order is shipping soon, earlier than originally planned. You should see your tracking number in the ‘Orders’ section of your account once it is processed." I am hyped...🤩
Seems like a great product for the money, the best entry level direct drive available I think . I have the dd1 too but direct drive for that cost don’t think any others can match 👍
Thank you for your impressions :) I can't wait for my CLS DD, but you said in the 24h stream there was an update released and you can nearly make a new review. Is it because of the "emptiness"? Thx in advance and keep on pushing :D
I was just thinking about it and will check it tomorrow and do one more review together with pedals and table clamp, But also I forgot to mention that I come from using DD1 so my point of view might be a little blurry compare to others :)
@@Jardier just like driving a 600 ps car and go back to 200 :) For me it's a big upgrade and also ordered the V3 pedals, so might be a whole new level of feeling the car for me :D
I think the reason why the 5NM felt empty in the middle is because of your settings. The dynamic range for the 8NM is higher so that the middle are was stronger even though you dialed it back a bit. If you played with the setting I bet you could get the 5NM to feel pretty close to the 8NM. It’s like listening to music at 6 and then turning it up to 11. The quieter sound level loses a little bit of nuance that you can hear when it is cranked up to 11.
I like your reviews, because even if you are affiliated with Fanatec the videos feel honest. It's great to have a review with all the techincal details, but it is even better to get one that feels honest and well from a normal user. Keep it up this way!!!
Great review sir! I went and impulsively bought the Thrustmaster load cells pedals yesterday instead of saving some more for a full Fanatec set. Your review definitely let me drooling in anguish haha
Jardier - to get the maximum amount of detail and responsiveness you should always keep the wheel at 100% force feedback, and only adjust the gain in game. Loved the video otherwise as always!
I always find it hard to choose which to reduce. The wheel takes info from the game. So aren't you better having 100% of everything from the game and then fine tuning the settings on the wheel? As that means you're getting all the info and can then adjust as you like. If you reduce the game, you're taking away info from the wheel, no?
@@Sweaty__Sheep if you read the fanatec settings for acc, it’s written 100% fbb setting in fanalab and then you can reduce in game. I have csw 2.5 waiting for csl dd
But that absolutely makes sense if you say you're using 35% force feedback on your DD1, you are using a little bit more than a third of the power, which then is 7nm of torque. The CSL DD with Boost Kit on 80% FF however produces 6,4 Nm of torque, which is similar enough to make it feel "the same"
Thanks for the review, @jardier! I am in the process of getting into sim racing. I just bought the McLaren GT3 V2 rim, and I'm saving up now for the CSL DD (5NM for the beginning). This is very encouraging since I already committed $200. If you're talking about Fanatec bringing DD to the "entry level"-market, you're talking about people like me. Only once Fanatec announced the release of the CSL DD I considered ditching my Xbox controller. See you all on track..... eventually. 😅
Literally my absokute favorite wheelbase on the market perfect 8nm feels more like 10nm tbh the detail is amazing imo I felt more form it then the ds1 outrunner motor. I've always rpeffered servo motors. It's also smoother then the dd1. I am going to get the cal dd as my main yes that's right over my dd1. I can't help it I fell in love with it when using it. Not to mention the form factor. It felt slightly more responsive I'm guessing due to the size and the fact it has the first ever carbon fiber shaft on a dd wheel. It also seems a bit quicker because of that and it's size crazy right? Some may not admit it. A fee have tho yes youtubers. I mean its a beast and for it ro be this good off rhe bat. Without drivers down the road is insane. Think about how long it took for them to get the dd1 and dd2 to the level its at now. The csl dd comes out the gate that good. That says alot imo. Yes the smoothness is noticeable there isn't a single notch or grain in it like the dd1 has. It actually feels as smooth as the semicube. Imo 8nm is plenty when you feel the 8nm on this base you may be surprised. It felt like more and I have no idea why. Literally 80 percent of the people who have reviewed it already using the boost kit actually turn it down a little bit. Let's hope fanatec doesn't downgrade it through the drivers as people will like this more then the dd1 and I'm worried they will rig it to where it isn't as good due to sales. I really hope that isn't the case lol. Did yoy hear him he's like this is my wheel now haha. Think about it nobody had this reaction with the dd1 ans dd2 right at release. Also think about what he said he didn't use it at full power yet said its the ssme power at the 80 percmet in game then 70 on the wheel as his settings on his dd1 yet wanted to bring up the power when he said himself he doesn't use more. Think about that. The only person to say it was lacking. Believe me guys thw dd1 doesn't feel better I own one. I have a buddy he's a content creator I won't name who. But it felt better then my dd1. Don't listen to people sponsored by fanatec. Of course rhwy want to damage control they don't want a 500 dollar base to be as good. I told yall this would happen I promise you it isn't worse it's as good as the dd1 for me I enjoyed it more. The servo kotor is smoother. It has just as much detail. It's slightly more responsive and it's a bit quicker. Those outrunner motors arent. Even fanatec admitted this. The outrunner was for pure power. Did you notice his reaction the first 7 days and just so amazed and just was even like oh this is my new wheel. Then he ahd to come back and then damage control what he said. And then say dd1 is better he didn't say that the 7 days he used the csl dd.
i can give you a tip for installing quicker @Jardier, if you put the screws through the wholes first with the T-nut and leave them loose then slide the CSL DD on it would of been much easier for you :)
Love your videos! As a new sim racer, I'm so excited to receive my CSL DD. I am happy that I have the option to get the 5nm or the 8nm. I opted to the get the 5nm just for the price point and as a feel the need to upgrade, I'll consider the boost kit or perhaps something stronger!
I'll have to stick with my Logitech kit. I'm the slowest driver on the track so I have plenty of room for improvement before I consider upgrading hardware. I like your enthusiasm.
Hey, nice review. I just got CSL dd 8nm and I am thrilled to finally join sim racing community :) Question, why do you have in FFB settings set everything to 0% except gain?
I have been sim racing for 2 1/2 years and have a G29. I will upgrade to the CSL DD at some point in 2022. It seems like your only negative is the 8nm compared to the 20nm of your DD1 but you said your settings are so low with the DD1 since it is so strong. You are obviously not taking full advantage of the 20nm because it is so strong, correct? So my understanding would be why bother getting a DD1 for $1,200 if you have are not fully taking advantage of the full settings since they are just too strong. Sounds like I will be completely happy with the 8nm at less than half the price because I would never spend $1,200 on just a wheel base.
Very nice video! Congrats! I wish I could buy one of these CSL DD, but here in Brazil you can buy a real car for the price of one of these 😪😪 anyway, very nice product Fanatec will crush TM and Logitech, let’s see for how long they will keep this “affordable” prices!
Jardier! What setting did you use in settings? You say that you use 100% and 80%. But what others settings you like? Drift, damping… Thanks Jardier! Big Fan from Brazil! Thank you for what you do to virtual race!
really good review. i have t150 wheel and i think the price of the DD looks good for the upgrade. i think i will only have the 5nm as i dont have a rig but would be better than my T150.
I just de-mounted my 150 after moving up to a 300.. that was a night and day difference.. if you go from the 150 to a CSL DD, you're going to have to change your pants. I hope you can make the upgrade soon!!
Thanks for the detailed review and comparison. Simple question, why is the CSL DD so close to the CSW and not closer to the DD1, while you said yourself, it's your DD1 with a lower torque ?
I think it’s about the Sample group during Pre Production. 5-8 Probably felt best in testing!! Not to mention they will probably introduce a Mid/CSW DD at some point with 10-15 with optional Boost. Just a thoughtful but does make some sense. This is the CSL Line.
Jardier, you sound shocked after adding the booster power supply /kit. Seems they should just sell it with the boost kit and should only be like a $50 more, not $150. It's just a power supply which I am sure they manufacture for like $10.
I agree, Im sure it has something to do with margin on whole wheel, I was personally thinking that they tried to push csl dd price so low so its interesting and it sells they had to come up with solution that was expensive boost kit :o
If they didn't charge 150 for the PSU then the base would have to be more expensive. I'm fine with it, it's not so much for who's buying this and it makes the 5nm version available for people on a tighter budget.
Oh yeah. I was off for last couple months as my csl elite is worn beyond functionality. In theory i could fix it but i would need a completely new chassis and since it has some 5000 hours on clock i decided to make myself a break and i am doing car build That price is amazing
Lovely review Jardier, I love watching yours stuff - your exctiement about simracing in general is just awesome! I am also excited about the new base - it migth actually make me upgrade from my entry-level wheel. Could I please ask you for a favor, Jardier? My PC area is extremelly limited, so a major factor for me is size. Would you be able and kind enough to measure the length of the whole thing (whole base to the end of your Formula rim)? I found the dimensions of the base, but there is the "tube" the wheel is mounted to and the rim itself. I would love to know the real length of the whole thing, would be very helpful for me.
Great video & fantastic explanation Jardier, thank you. My only issue with the CSLDD is that it's not PlayStation compatible & I want a wheel that I can use on PS4 Pro/PS5 (when I can finally get hold of one) as well as PC so, for me, it look slike I'll have to continue using my Logitech G29 for now & hope Fanatec get the PS version of the CSLDD onto the market soon.
The Boostpack is a Little expensive, it is just a more powerful poweradapter! But I can’t wait until the PlayStation Version comes out! Thanks for the review!👍
Great video Jardier! I think I am going to get this one. Have a question about ACC though. Your graphics look so clean, can I find your settings somewhere? As mine looks pretty blurry
I really wonder is it really worth to upgrade to this with 8nm from csl Elite.. its still quite a lot of money and i dont know if i will feel that much difference
Confused by the conclusion of this video. You use the DD1 at less than half the maximum power, cranked power down on the CSL DD and then complained it wasn't quite powerful enough!?!?!? Anyway, ordered this a while back and looking forward to getting it, as it's the only way I'd ever be able to get into the DD market.
I dont think I complained about being powerful enough at all only thing I was saying is compare to dd1 I find initial first few degrees a bit lower thats it :)
