oh this is even simpler for the L-shaped stairs, then! one that doesn't require ceiling workarounds! thank you so much for figuring this stuff out, it really opens options up!
Just wanted to thank you for consistently making the BEST tutorials when it comes to stairs. I never would have known any of this was possible were it not for your videos. You've opened up so many possibilities!
kate. can you help us with building special stairs in the penthouses!?!! smh we can’t add any foundations there. if there’s ANYONE who can figure out a workaround....it’s YOU girl!
I just replied to your comment but I think my reply disappeared? However I will try to come up with something but I am afraid it might be impossible. But I will definitely give it a try and see what I can do!
Kate Emerald hahahaaa. RU-vid! 🤦🏽♀️😂 THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH kate. ii’ve been struggling with how to make interesting constructions and concepts with my penthouse lot. ii and ii know everyone else would GRANDLY appreciate your expertise! 🙌🏽😍😘🙌🏽
The Sims should really link your videos on their channel and website, or use your methods in the game tutorials! There is so much more possible when you know all the ins and outs like you do.
shortcut tip: use the room tool and drag out the area that you want to be sunken, press control (the green line should turn to yellow) when it does, click it, automatically sunken room without having to delete the walls/ceiling around it. Hope that made sense. I always seem to have a problem with doing lofts....that's a great tip with the ceiling too, cause I always seem to run into problems with closing it off. I also love that stair idea too. Great videos! Great tips!
Thank you so much for your easy to understand tutorials! I only just found your channel a few weeks ago. I've improved with my house building from watching other RU-vidrs in the past few months yet my houses still look very similar since I'm using the same techniques in all of them. I'm going to start taking some of the things from your tutorials so I can add some variety! Thank you again! I'm definitely going to use this!
Just in time for the build I'm working on. I'm trying to do a crazy maze of tight streets and walkways, with tiny houses and shops all over, kind of in a higgledy-piggledy mess. I wanted a sunken central area with pool/pond in it and now I know how without going down a full level. Cheers. :-)
@@KateEmerald It's my biggest so far but also my most complicated by a long way and it's going to take a lot of working out. The idea actually came to me because of the new magic pack and thinking about Diagon Alley..
We always take such inspiration from you!! Love how that landing looks with a window. Can definitely imagine one of the intricate windows in realm of magic placed there! Thank you Kate for another great tutorial! ❤️
Again you are The Best! 👍😎 Thank you so much! I love that kind of layouts, like you said, in my eyes very traditional State's style and I really love to build in more levels on the inside! So, mega many thank you 😁👌
There is a way to do a single big staircase that splits in two, but that hasn't the fence in between the stairs? If you know how it'll be super helpful!
Would there be a way to include a door or window in the sunken room such that you could have a direct connection to the garden without needing a landing inside and patio outside? Perhaps using terrain tools?
Hey Kate! I need your help! I have done everything EXACTLY like you have done on the video. However, when I go to place a roof or a third level, I see sunlight on my first level. How do I fix that?
Did you make sure all walls are closed and all that? If you want to upload it to the gallery and let me know here including your ID so I can take a look :)
I'm having problems where terrain like grass is kind of phasing through the floor of my sunken room, making it look super glitchy and unusable. I don't use any cc, so I'm wondering if it's a game glitch? I tried it on a flat lot, even, and my game still did that! I love this tutorial, though, so thanks for sharing!
I built a house a long time ago with a sunken living room in the middle but my issue was when I tried to colour the foundation in the living room, it changed my outside foundation :( Is it possible to have different foundation styles?
hi can u see ur stairs up there, the railings kinda sticking out cz the wall is too low? how do we get rid of that unwanted-sticking-out rails? making it a tall wall doesnt work :(
I know this video is over 1 year old, but is it possible to build a angled staircase when a house is already on foundation? I've been trying for so long, but when I try to adjust the height for the beginning of the foundation inside the house, the whole house adjust at the same level. I want the level inside the house to be higher..
You can simply build the whole house and then section of areas with walls and then you delete the floor where you want your sunken areas. It will delete some ceilings as shown in the video but you can simply rebuild them with the floor :)
You could try adding floor over the grass first before you add the stairs. The floor prevents the terrain from changing/being able to be manipulated :)
Delete the walls. But after I delete the walls it still does not let me put a floor down. I don't get the 'Must be applied to a room' message but still will not let me put a floor down edit: So I was trying on a beach lot and that's why it was not working. Something about it being a water lot
I showed the exact same technique, no difference. You can create any type of sunken room build with this :) But thank you for the feedback, I appreciate it! Hope you have a great day/night! :)
the lighting... gross. one way to cover it, something that I do and that I've learned from the pool tutorial, is to take a room with a wall piece (in that tutorial was a pilar) that is sunken and copy all over the room. during the live mode, these foundations looks a lot more jarring, covering it is mandatory for me.
The new stairs will be amazing and will make this easier but we will still have to remove the foundation for sunken rooms. :) Just saying it in case someone will be confused :D Can't wait to play around with the new stairs!!
