I love, love, love this penthouse build and the homey decor. It has a very relaxed and soothing vibe. I can imagine living there. Hope your Thanksgiving with family was fun and fulfilling. I thought about you on your 10 hour drive. My younger sister, Mimi, usually has Thanksgiving at her house in northern Illinois, which is pretty central for the rest of us. For us, it is only a 1.5 HR drive from the Milwaukee area. One brother and his family comes from the Chicago area, one lives pretty close to Mimi's, about 5 miles, another brother comes down from Waunakee, which is north of Madison. Another brother lives maybe 20 miles from Mimi's, but he and his family didn't make it; some illness interfered. There were friends and guests joining our family. Our family has always opened their homes and hearts to share our bounty with others. And no one can ever say that they left hungry. We all pitch in. Mimi does the turkey and a couple of sides. One brother made Mom's sauerkraut, a Polish tradition handed down from my Polish grandmother. No recipe, just knowing how it is done being handed down from one generation to the next. I'm responsible for all the pumpkin pies every year, brownies, and apple spice cake. My daughter makes the green bean casserole. So, Thanksgiving remains pretty traditional. Several years ago, we decided to forego the big Christmas dinner, and just have appetizers, Italian beef sandwiches, salads, chips, and Christmas cookies. So, we just graze, and no one is slowed down by a big dinner. It works out so much better. And again, we all have our designated addition to the potluck. I do the the ramen noodle salad (a huge Tupperware bowl of it, and, unfortunately, there are no leftovers), brownies, Spritz. This year I'll be trying out a new recipe for Red Velvet spritz. I also made the Italian fig cookies when my Dad was alive. Hope your holidays are merry and bright!
For Thanksgiving my family couldn't make it out to the bay area, from Nebraska and Michigan, so we had some family friends come over and I made the Pumpkin and Apple Pies and the mashed potatoes
I'm going to try to build this build and also your bathrooms downstairs with the rug tricked my mind and It looked like a fuzzy rug on top of a fuzzy floor
