The game: asking someone to be your girlfriend is a loyal interaction, so if Don does it a lot to multiple women that makes him obviously EXTREMELY LOYAL
They really just need for TS4 to have a polyamory update, especially since Maxis is so serious about the LGBT. They seemed to be sort of trying to do something like this with the Serial Romantic Aspiration, but failed ultimately because the Reward Trait is bugged and still allows negative Sentiments from cheating to occur (and I *_really hope_* this isn't an intended feature!)... plus everyone in the polycule or whatever happens because of this Aspiration needs to complete said Aspiration just to remove _most_ of the negative effects of cheating. (Yes, I am aware of polyamory mods, and MC Command Center also has this functionality. I think _that mod_ has it more or less too. Maybe Wonderful Whims does as well.)

Its hilarious how the sims 4, for its sanded down bland exterior, is like 50 times more messed up than the sims 3 or 2, but only because of its unfinished and haphazard nature

I have a family I’ve been playing with for many generations and then my sims wife decided to flirt with her sister in law so I kicked her out of the millionaire household she got married into and my sim became a single father 😂
That's not terrible at all. It's drama and they're unrelated. My sim was dating Akira and the family moved him in. The mum took a liking to him and he said "Excuse me?!" because of his traits and they never had a great relationship after that. He literally used to walk out the room when she walked in and my main sim never found out. It was the drama I was looking for and completely autonomous. However, flirting with RELATED family members (even by adoption or guardianship) is weird and it was a bug in the sims for a quick minute before they fixed it.
You wanna hear something worse? The realm of magic pack has a bug where the "infatuate" spell works on two ACTUAL blood relatives. I found out when I missclicked the person I was trying to infatuate my sim with and selected two FULL ON BROTHERS who then went on to make out and I wanted to scream. And they then kept the "lovebirds" relationship in the game, so it wasn't even a one-off thing.
Sims 3 wouldn't have allowed this, I know cause I once made a storyline where I had two teen sims fall in love and get together, and then made their individual parents fall in love and get together, and when they got married the two teen sims were marked as stepsiblings and they could no longer flirt
Well this explains why one of my sims found her step-brother "extremely attractive". I was mortified when I saw it, especially considering she was a vampire and he was a werewolf and I just made them friends. Like, girl you hated him two minutes ago when you introduced yourself to your new brother what do you mean you want to flirt with him and "extremely attractive"?!

A few weeks ago I was playing a file in which a widowed father had recently remarried. The issue was, even though I'd made sure the new wife had adopted his two daughters as care dependant before the wedding even occurred, she still autonomously attempts to flirt with them (who are now adults) all the time, and I have to reign it in every single time. I have no mods that could affect this, nor do I have that one NAP active. I feel like... I don't know... this isn't really supposed to be happening. It never did, before, not for me at least. Especially not when the game explicitly made it appear like one sim had adopted another. It's super uncomfortable.
One time I had a Sim whom I'd gotten pregnant by someone random and then Angela Pleasant turned up. My Sim hit it off with her, I realized ANGELA was also pregnant with some townie as well lol, so I made them girlfriends, they had the babies and they got married. Well, I don't recall if I did the adoption between the two moms to make sure they could both care for their sons but I probably did since they grew up together. Regardless after they became teens, one boy had a whim to flirt with the other and I was like "NOPE." I also had the 'rents adopt a little girl but luckily I decided to leave with the heir before I could see anything else weird unfold. I had to stop the brothers at least once too. I was like "THAT'S YOUR STEPBRO. WE'RE GOING TO DO RAGS TO RICHES NOW. THIS IS WHAT YOU GET." but also I made him a mage so he had it easy lol. I didn't get too far tho because I wanted him to knit a onesie for his baby which was a grind. At some point I wanted to go back to them but it's frustrating. I enjoy family gameplay and hoped he'd be close to his family, just not that kind of close. I assume it's because they're not technically connected in the family tree but it's so annoying the game doesn't really recognize anyone beyond the nuclear option at best.
The adopt as care dependent thing has never really meant anything aside from making sure they check up on the kids, it doesn’t affect relationship “bits” or family trees or anything the game cares about. The autonomous flirting is annoying as hell though and I think it’s a new thing, I had my sim try to flirt with her stepfather on the day of her wedding despite them barely even being friends
Something creepy and icky happened when I was playing the Sims last night (basegame and no mods). I was playing as Olivia Kim Lewis, she had completed the creative aspiration so I had her start the social butterfly aspiration. It was late at night and she was the only one up, but she had already slept earlier so her needs were fine. I decided it would be a good idea to use this time to work on her new aspiration and make some friends. There wasn’t anyone out in the neighbourhood, until I finally spotted Malcolm Landgraab (not ideal since he’s a teen not a child, but I didn’t think much of it). I got her to do a funny interaction and it said Malcolm was sad, so I had her do some cheerful/funny interactions to cheer him up. I then got the option to ”try and cheer Malcolm up” so I got her to do that. She gave him a hug and I thought it was a bit weird since they weren’t friends yet but thought meh it’s innocent, this is a game kids can play after all. Well….after he cheered up…. TELL ME WHY HIS MOODLET CHANGED TO FLIRTY?!? 💀 Granted obviously cause she’s a child there is no romance relationship bar or interactions (thank god) but it was so creepy…like ew he got hugged by a child then instantly became flirty? I know Malcolm is an evil sim but JESUS CHRIST I didn’t think he was that bad 😂 Understandably I got her to go home right away cause it was just so weird. Not sure if it’s a current glitch or something???
Maybe it was because he had a flirty moodlet beforehand that was being hidden by a more powerful sad moodlet. Then, when the sad moodlet got removed by the "cheer up" interaction, all that was left was the previously existent flirty moodlet, and so he became flirty.
Maybe he broke up with his girlfriend recently, which is why he was super sad, so it wasn't about Olivia? Malcolm just felt better after the hug and he decided he was ready to find someone else (who was somewhere else.) I really don't wanna think it was random bad timing thanks to puberty lol. And I know it's not a flirty interaction so I'm pretty sure beatostan is correct and flirty just happened to be the only other moodlet Malcolm had on him for some reason. Understandably creepy though. Poor Olivia! I know that you noticed but I hope she remained oblivious (her little code and pixels should remain ignorant.)

Reminder that the sims team once put into the Sims 4 that the only way for a sims that hates children to ask to woohoo for a baby was by having them being dazed, which is literally rape. (I remember people being mad about it, I don't know if they fix it or not)

another update: a friend created a save for the sole purpose of seeing (xbox version, not pc. latest update) the sim who hated children (could get pregnant, not can make. idk if that effects anything. idk any other traits said friend gave the generic random sim) was willing to try for baby dazed & not dazed and were both times tense afterwards for hours. so instead of preventing it all together, ea said make them do it in all moods. 😐 because, yes, feeling pressured to do it is good. /s /neg
Once my simself married a sim who had two children already. When the eldest daughter grew up, they wouldn't stop flirting with eachother 😭😭😭And since my simself had very high charisma, their romance bar would rise up super fast. I had to change their relationship to mother-daughter so they would stop flirting
To be fair, the Caliente sisters were already very much grown up when Don got with their mom. They're canonically around the same age. It's not like he *raised* them. Granted, I'm not saying that cheating on your older wife with her adult daughters *isn't* fucked up. But it's not fucked up on the same level as if he was someone they would actually see as a father figure. That said... the game doesn't know the difference. One of my Sims lost her husband when her kids were very young, and later remarried. This guy is definitely a father figure to the kids, especially the daughter, who was only a toddler when her biological father died, so she probably doesn't even really remember him. The kids are adults now and... the romance options are there. 🤢 The Caliente situation is one thing, but Sims probably shouldn't be able to hit on their stepchildren if they were still children/teens at the time.
was that like during the hsy update thingy breaking the game for awhile? i was watching a video where two sims were getting married AND THEN THE SPOUSE IMMEDIATELY FLIRTED WITH HIS CHILD. MULTIPLE TIMES AFTER THEIR ROMANCE BAR WAS DELETED TOO.
It gets worse if you choose an adult in Sims 4 to be 'a caretaker' from the parenthood gamepack for a child who is not blood-related but, for all intents, has been adopted. If an adult sim becomes a caretaker for a child or toddler, and then the adult raises the child to a young adult, the now young adult can flirt with their foster parent because the sims team only made 'caretaker' applicable to the teenager and below life stages. I had this happen to one of my not-so-berry Mint married sims who got abducted and had an alien baby. Their husband became the caretaker of the alien children. The game's autonomy had the later young adult alien flirt and attempt to woohoo with their stepparent before I had my science sim parent cancel that interaction and freeze-ray their alien progeny. Yup... 10/10 EA, totally intentional gaming experience. It feels like people in EA need to play their games for a more long-term gaming experience.
last week my sim turned out to have a kid with her husbands son (her step son), i made her divorce him, take care of the kid, but I should've sacrificed her to a cow plant.
oof this reminded me of the save i played when werewolves came out. my sim cheated on his husband with greg and got pregnant but his husband didnt know and was raising the kids as his own. later when the kids were adults i caught him flirting with his daughter!! i had to edit family relations to make him their actual dad so that wouldnt happen again
it’s more than that. I was making a teen-parents storyline where the teen couple both lived with the girl’s parents while raising money for their (the teen’s) upcoming child. The baby then born, the teen-parents grew up to Young Adult, and suddenly the teen-parents couple’s status are now SUPER SIBLINGS and can’t perform any of romance interaction as the result, even though they HAVE A CHILD TOGETHER.
You know the scenario with the three siblings and grandma's money? Well I discovered by accident that the sims team didn't actually make the grandma related to her grandchildren, her grandson flirted with one of her friends during a group conversation and IT WORKED ON HER TOO 🤢 so I decided to see how far the game would allow this to go...they have a baby now 🤮 and I've given up on that scenario. To make them related without a parent in the middle is a simple case of using genetics to make a parent from the kids, a grandparent from the parent and then delete the parent, the relationships will still be grandparent/grandchild. I did it with one of my own sims families but the sims team didn't bother even for a scenario smh
Tbh this exact thing is why I quit playing TS4. In my legacy challenge my favorite Sim had the want to flirt with her stepson, WHO SHE HAD RAISED SINCE A TODDLER. I never played TS4 again.
You should see if “try for a baby” is still an option in those scenarios. If he has a child with Katrina, let’s just say child “a”, and a child with Nina as well, let’s call that child “b”, then child “a” would be both child “b”’s half sibling and aunt/uncle. This would also make Child “b” both Katrina’s grandchild and stepneice/nephew.

I have a theory that whoever created this story and these sims could have based it off their actual life because otherwise who on earth would make any of this an option? Maybe the employee was named Katrina too?
It gets even worse than this. One of my characters has a romance bar with his biological (adult) child 🤢 I moved the kid out into his own place as soon as i noticed it.
In one of my legacy saves I was playing about a year ago, I think I was on my fifth generation when I decided to have one of the sims visit his grandmother's house. She wasn't home, but her twin sister was. To my dismay, after some friendly interaction between my sim and the great-aunt, I noticed that the Romantic interactions became available. Naturally, I tested out how far I could take that... and well, since I didn't have auto-aging on with this family, she was still an adult and ended up having a kid with her twin sister's grandson.
The MOST messed up thing that’s happened to my sims was when I changed houses in the world and changed back to find that the teenage son had a tiny bit of a romance level with his FULL blooded TODDLER sister. I had no mods at the time or anything that could have affected it, and I was torn between laughing and being completely weirded out. The only thing that I can think of is that that weird ‘free love’ neighborhood thing was in that neighborhood and the game bugged somehow and randomly assigned some romance levels, or maybe that bug where two sims are flirting and another listens in and gets some romance for some reason. Either way, I noped out of there
So, on few occasions my sim has been married to multiple sims at the same time because neighborhood stories has given that call about “omg found a ring in their bag” and what not, while I’ve been playing another sim in the household and traveled to another lot. So in theory, if the game were to run for a while there’s a chance this could’ve been even worse 😂 Console player here, so no mods in work
The other day one of my sims flirted with HER SISTER. Unprompted as well. Their relationship went all into the negative. It was after they had been turned into vampires too. It was so strange. EA WHAT ARE YOU DOING?! T-T I think for me it had to be a glitch, but this seems intentional
They probably increased the amount of ‘random’ flirting to add some story, but it seems completely bugged out and is ignoring the in game precepts. It’s messing with some story beats for me too

I already knew how this would end because I decided to date Rory (yes the werewolf), I kept checking her family tree and when her step mother died, her father married his step daughter 😭 I'm still utterly disturbed
The game did me dirty once. My sim had a wonderful relationship and marriage with a romantic man, who raised her daughter like his own (their relationship pannel even said darling father or something like that)... and the thing with romantic sims is that, they are obligatory serial romantic in their behaviour! so... technicallly, the game allowed romantic interaction with his own adoptive daughter once she grew up! WTF ?! GAME! you need to do better!
I know the sims doesn't recognise cousin in laws but my sim's cusion used to live with him and their wives and they would all flirt with eachother!!! 🤬 then when I moved out the cousin and his wife the main sim's wife would flirt with other people!! It pisses me off so much! Do i have to turn off exploring romanticly or something? I feel like sims who don't have the 'non commital' trait should be monogamous!
The ending killed me omgg! I can't play the Sims without mods that prevent autonomous flirting, it's ruined so many relationships in my saves in the Sims 3 and 4! 💀🤣
I love playing long-term generational games and here is a quick list of all the family relationships my sims have had and still been able to romance: - Cousins - Aunts and Uncles (as long as the niece/nephew is old enough) - Step-siblings - Step-cousins - Step-parents - Half Siblings?? (My sim married a man who already had two kids and they had a child together. When they all aged up, their child had the interaction to flirt with her half brother… maybe the kid was adopted before I joined the household and thus they’re technically only step siblings, but even then it’s still fucked) In conclusion I hate the sims 4 family tree systems.
I found out that two half sisters were able to marry each other's fathers. 😶 I was well, I could make an icky polygamous cult. I decided I didn't want to promote icky polygamy even in the sims and did not follow that particular train of icky

My legacy heir just had two babies with Don, the son looks *identical* to him to the point it’s uncanny and then the daughter looks exactly like the mom. The sim’s genetics is messed up. I just have a teenage Don Lothario in my house now and he randomized with the klepto trait💀

However, Don hooks up with Nina and she gets pregnant, after the baby is born (three sim days), they name her Sam. However, Don hooks up with Dina, and after the baby is born, they name her Tory. I'm pretty sure sims can have romantic relationships with inlaws and step-family out of the box lol, you don't even have to trick the game into doing it it's a feature
