Having dreams where you have a completely different life and waking up and actually missing a person you've never truly met is extremely jarring. Had my experience with this atleast 5 years ago, still sticks with me.
Well, imagine having this on an almost daily basis. I can't explain it, but would always sleep, later dream, and found myself in a world wherein I know people I have never met in my entire life. I sometimes would even know their backstories, where they came from, how we met, and everything. And this sometimes jump from one dream to another.
@@onellbrianmeliston8960 I always have dreams of the future like one time I had a dream of what the lottery was going to be but I decided I didn't want to win the lottery because I'm actually above rich people I had a dream about the Russia Ukraine war starting I also had a dream about reading your comment and now I'm doing it I literally can see the future I could tell you when you're going to die but I wouldn't want to do that because it would destroy your perception of life I actually can time-travel as well but I don't do it because I don't want to mess things up I'm just a superior being to every other human I guess not really a big deal the
i have this too, i keep having a series of recurring dreams where im going on a huge journey with a band of friends that i have never met in the real world. these dreams come to me every 3-4 months and every time it comes, it feels like 0 time has passed and we continue on our journey
I feel like an update or sequel to this video would be extremely interesting, a lot has changed in 4 years, there's new technologies on the horizon and it all seems like it could use another video.
My uncle told me once that when I die I'll open my eyes and be sitting around a camp fire in the forest somewhere with some of my good buddies and my dog. I'll be holding a bong and my friends will ask "so how was your trip?" He then said "would you have something worthy to tell?" Fucked me all up haha.
Hey, you. You're finally awake. You were trying to cross the border, right? Walked right into that Imperial ambush, same as us, and that thief over there
then congrats you got your life on a new level , hope you can pass it and evolved . btw im stuck here fyi that might help you , dont get confused by your ownself .
naa, thats to me actually more plausible than God and stuff. i mean, i believe in god, but not in the way of an allmighty entity that controls everything. rather like a programmer, that made all this Possible and is constantly tweaking everything we have here. And Jesus being him as a player just trying out his fairly new created species.
@@___aZa___ Me too, i find it unlikely that the universe came outta nowhere, but at the same time i cant help myself from being afraid of the idea that we just popped out into existence at a suitable time due to the right conditions and life is nothing more than an accident in a universe that doesn't really acknowledge our existence.
@@___aZa___ That's why lovecraftian horror always scare the shit outta me, imagine the idea that god exists but he is an ignorant all powerful monster who doesn't have any idea who we are or how he came to be and has no standard for good nor evil whatsoever, therefore being capable of destroying our entire universe without even being aware that he did.
@@snape539 i thought about existence for a long time and i am actually not afraid at all. If it would be like how you described it, does it change anything for you? just live your best life as long as you can and just enjoy it. You can't change written books.
There's a short story, written (likely) by a Russian Sci Fi pioneer, i read it many years ago, probably 25~30, and its premise is a highly advanced computer and its team of researchers. Obviously, this "highly advanced" computer is a laughable notion of the "power" of computing as it was many years before, probably 40 or more years, when computers were operated with cards and cranks. Regardless, the story is centered around one of the scientists, one of those larger than life character, otherwise bland, but with a fine penchant for ... jokes. It's been a while, so i remember only the punch line, and it goes something like this. Upon having received the answers to a question he had asked the highly advanced computer to calculate, he reads "the experiment is now over, the simulation will end". The question was, "what are jokes, who made them, what is their purpose" and he soon finds that he cannot make himself or others, laugh at any of his jokes. I was a kid back then, reading this blew my mind. It didn't help that in the same Sci Fi novel gathering of stories, another spoke of a miniaturized testing world where people were subject of testing Corpo variables like "what commercials should we use and how" and the main character figuring this out when he finds out that his basement is nothing more than a cardboard simulacrum of reality. In a way, yes, i'm laughing my ass off, because these stories (as told by Lemmino and others, Matrix and so on...) they aren't new, their notion, boiling down to one thing. One question. What is reality (us)?
The simulation theory also explains quantum physics, there just isn't enough power on the developers computer to precisely determine where each of the particles are, so they only calculate the precise location when observed. This is surprisingly similar to how videogames usually work when you think about it...
Yep. I thought he was going to say it "short circuited" or something and scrambled his brain either killing him or leaving him in a complete invalid state....something like that.
So is there a way I can subscribe twice? I thought this was just a top ten channel but after watching this I feel like I should get more like it. This is definitely an improvement on your part sir, I look forward to watching more videos like this in the future, that is, if you make more like it.
Fuck You Dead news at this point, but what if the raid failed because we’re all NPCs coded to be too afraid to do something as crazy as storming a military base, therefore making it impossible to escape the simulation?
When I asked my followers from different platforms what are they immediate financial goal, most of them said that their want to make their first million. So that's what we're doing today.
Making 1 million dollars sounds like a lot of money if you've never earned high figures before. It might seem like an obsolete objective, but the truth is new millionaires are created each day.
@Selena Gordon Wow what a coincidence, you invested with Mrs Galia Benartzi also.? I also trade with her I get to earn a big weekly trading income of $28,000 pioneered by Mrs Galia Benartzi
Durgrith I can make you have one from you reading this. What if every time you hear your name being called but no one said it it’s actually someone trying to wake you up from a coma. Or Everytime you fall asleep you wake up in a different life and that’s why you dream then when you fall asleep in that life everything you are doing in this life is just your other life dreaming. Thank you for coming to my ted talk. You’re welcome.
This is probably my favorite video of yours LEMMiNO. It talks about existential dread in such a cozy and comforting way. It honestly gives me a lot of hope for the future
That’s what’s frustrating about all these days. Even if we could prove that we are living in a simulation.. still have to get to for work on Monday morning 🤷♂️
butterfly dream: "I dreamed i was a butterfly, but when I woke up, I wasn't sure if I am the human dreaming of being a butterfly, or the butterfly, now dreaming of being a human."
...I like this, however, I think it breaks down if you ponder it too deeply: I don’t imagine the butterfly would have a complex enough understanding of existence to dream of what life as a human would be, let alone to contemplate the idea that it may be a butterfly, but dreaming of life as a human. Lol
This was the beginning of an era to think you started out doing top 10 lists and now you make insanely well researched and informative video essay/ short documentaries i love all of your videos you've made like this and I'm going through your entire channel rn cant wait to see what you cover next 😊
You still cant see them. While the sim may exist from 1st-3rd dimensions as governed by the 4th (time) 5th dimensional entity could exist all around us without us ever being able to comprehend them because we lack the physical and mental power to exist on the 5th dimension, as they created us to be.
This video will honestly always be one of my favorite videos of all time. The music paired alongside the amazing script is just one of those videos that leaves you with chills, in awe or just.. Utterly impressed with what you just watched
here's a secret, it actually is a simulation, I am still trying to gather evidence but soon I think I will have it and I'll be able to guide others to this conclusion as well
This reminds me of the hunger games the gamemakers are the simulators and we are the tributes For example, the gamemakers can artificially affect the weather like how weather changes on earth
Imagine realizing at death that this reality we've been living in and only known our entire lives in is an ultra-immersive MMO. Memories of your life outside the game are forgotten (perhaps blocked by the computer running the game) 'til the end of the game when you die. The "true" reality you come from is the "afterlife", and the "spirits" from the afterlife are non-players/ex-players screwing with the players.
@@mixedvibes9613 death is quite unsettling because I think of it as being unconscious. You have no clue you are unconscious you just kind of cease to exist till you wake up. Sleepingand dreaming isnt too bad as when you wake up you are quite aware of the time you were sleeping, but unconsciousness is just black and void, nothingness
+ahightechtyler we managed to beam him the thoughts and knowledges the first time this similarstatement was written at life hub concious at last year july by calendar time. life forms had an very long history of untold tales, yet to bei told. soon it's coming, when the king lucifer arrives (may come in package of little no more than twenty jeebus heralds), or an jeebus himself. the 'him serves for decorative measures, while the gender of jeebus belongs closer to the mortal manifestation of this character.
We create ourselves, slowly but surely. Watch some Sean Lock, he'll give you some ideas such as pretending a wrong number isn't! RING RING: (picks-up)...Mandy? Hold on, she's just downstairs... MANDY. Get up here and answer the phone... I don't know who: some WANKER... yeah she's just coming. WHAT HAVE I TOLD YOU ABOUT WEARING SHOES INSIDE? Put on the special slippers... Hello? Yes, she's just changing her shoes... The important part is to remember why you want to be here X
I find everything about life so terrifying and its quite interesting how most people dont seem to care or question it often but I wonder about everyday. To think a few chemicals invisible to the human eye can combine as sperm and egg, grow and become an actual living thing that can rule everyone that exists is truly amazing. Every single person started off as mere carbon, nitrogen, oxygen and few other elements.
@@thefamousdjx Because you will eventually go mad trying to decypher what all of it means, if it means anything at all. Be wary of what you consume, especially insight.
You are as real as you have ever been in this life. Whether or not this life is real is only relevant in an abstract sense, at least whilst in this life - unless you have made the investigation of reality a major part of your life's mission, in which case it becomes more relevant to you than it is to your neighbour cat. In short, reality is irrelevant, but relevance is relative. Also, the blue pill only gives you an erection.
Something to think about while exploring this topic: No matter what, all of this is real, in some sense. If we one day realize that our universe is simulated, it doesn't mean it doesn't exist, we were just mistaken about its nature. Consider this: You wake up out of a coma, and the first thing you notice is a pain in your leg. Only after you open your eyes do you realize you don't have a leg - it got chopped off while you were comatose, and now there's only a smooth stump. But you still feel the pain. The pain is real, it's just that its nature is different than expected. In other words, if I were presented proof that my life is simulated, the revelation would have next to no impact on my life. It would be like playing a video game - though it isn't physical, the feelings and emotions I experience are just as real.
A SAP course I'm currently taking touches on the topic of reality and our perception of it. Knowing ideas like the Allegory of the Cave has helped me understand this video a whole lot more. I can say I now appreciate the discussion you present more than I did when I initially watched it years ago. Your videos always have me coming back. Thank you for making them!
Here's some nightmare fuel: Imagine CBI being used as a torture mechanism. Wanna punish somebody? Give them the feeling and sensation of being burned alive, except they don't get the luxury of death, so it can last as long as the torturer wants. And since it isn't real, there's no evidence to prove that that person was tortured. This tech is really scary when you think about it.
I love how this went from a disturbing theory of how we could trapped in endless numbers of simulations and unable to escape or prove it to a video about the unlimited possibilities of simulations in the future
Debries : His works expands massively, but the idea that the body is a passive object for the consciousness is fundamentally wrong. The body is the pre-objective, pre-subjective and pre-reflective center for thought and action. The body has already sensed and created meaning before a conscious reflection or thought. Stretching it further, it could be argued that you are "Body-in-the-world", expanding on Heideggers idea, that we're: "Being-in-the-world". Finally, ontologically the body and consciousness does not exist as two independent quantities, but they're the same: body-in-the-world. That's a pretty rough outline of Ponty, but nonetheless quite accurate :-)
In my opinion the body is a vessel that holds the imprint of our dna, or code to function within this reality, ie- the light signature that reality reads in order for the rest of our "containers" to properly function within. According to the history books themselves, they tried over and over to get it right and here we are, the "next generation". I am sure there will be another to follow, as people are suggesting there are already clones being created, as well as synthetic dna. So we can literally cocreate on a cellular level with the quantum energy and reality in which we live. Time is short for this reality my friends. Perhaps some of us will be left to see what we do with it, but given that the entire planet is being introduced to this technology, doesn't suggest that they all will be a part of the co creation process when it unfolds, I think only a select few are going to be plugged in for that, and who and how they choose those individuals is way above my ability to reason lol.
I feel like my brain and body are totally separate, my body is like my car and my mind is the driver, and I'm only limited by my body which imposes a physical limitation. Just like a car imposes its own physical performance limits on the driver, if our brains were bigger and more complex we could think more deeply and quickly about different subjects at the same time, like hyperthreading on a cpu. Adversely it could be the other way around you could be a huge animal with a tiny puny brain therefore incapable of complex things like mathematics understanding emotion or being sentient, this is not due to the volume of the brain more the wiring. Example, an adult sperm whale brain is 8,000 cubic cm. Our brain is about 1300 cubic cm, but you don't see whales drawing, painting, playing music, or inventing things such as tools or machinery even though they have had a lot more time to evolve than humans, a chimpanzee however can do all of these things. This, in itself makes me question the realm of reality and what it is to be alive, are we here randomly from a random explosion before the beginning of time like mainstream scientists want us to believe, that is very difficult to believe.
Honestly, I really hope virtual reality never becomes advanced enough that there is no point in living a real life. The benefits of a virtual reality so vivid but without consequences or danger, in my opinion, are actually why it's so unappealing. Think about it, yes you can do whatever you want without making any impact on the real world, but isn't that why we live our lives in the first place? having a greater purpose other than selfish survival what makes us different from animals, so if we develop a technology that enables us to live our entire lives plugged into a computer, what's the point of living at all? of you're not living to change the lives of the people around you, and change the world in whatever small way you can, what's the point? *EDIT* : To clarify, I am completely in favor of using VR and brain connectivity technology for *medical* purposes such as vision/mobility restoration and *casual* entertainment, like video games.
We'd become drones slaving away to our own greed, and that would make our reality seem unappealing and a hellish place. Luckily (I hope) these technological advances won't take place in our life time.
if there so called virtual reality we live in is normal for us that virtual reality would be normal to the person living in his V.R. and dont tell me you did not think that this is all about you and this is all made for you because we dont know theres a SHITTON of questions that need answers so we dont realy know how whould it inpaqt the ,,reality'' we live in so yeah
This video was posted 7 years ago? jesus.. wow. For years I’ve been thinking about and wanting exactly this technology for gaming. Being able to actually feel the game we’re in, see from first person, feel temperatures, think we’re moving without moving IRL (probably could do that eventually with technology. But you’d probably have to like paralyze the user somehow which is scary to think about 😂) etc. I want this kind of tech to be here now. Controlling games with our brain is ONE of the first steps. So are VR headsets.
I responded to this by writing a ridiculously long pseudo-philosophical rant about it being just as likely that this entire really could be simulated to model a single virus in its short existence as it moves between the cell that ‘birthed’ it and the cell it will infect. Then I stopped, deleted most of it, and asked myself ‘are you drunk right now?’ And I realized I forgot to take my medication this morning, which results in roughly the same chemical effect on my brain as a night of mild drinking. So the answer is yes.
+LightTrack I'd usually never do this but if you're interested in gaming watch XboxAhoy, his videos, like lemminos are of an incredibly, incredibly high quality.
I aim to be able to think and speculate like him just as how he regards to even the tiniest detail, possibilities, and its range. Currently my favorite video; thank you for all your thinking.
Remember that "sense of time" thing? What if when we die, we wake up in our actual life and think about how awesome that game was while we waited for the bus...
When you enter a room but suddenly forget what you’re doing. Just like in sims, someone canceled your action. Edit: Wow thanks for the likes! Didn’t expect my comment to blow up like this.
earliest memories of my life I could recollect happened when I was around 3 years old. A recurring event that played in my head was that we(all random humans) all woke up from sleep it was pitch dark and looking at one another, eventually I recognized my uncle and he recognized me and we together tried to find other family but we could never find anyone. This memory played in my brain again and again over the years. Never told this to anyone, always wondered what it meant and why did I have this memory.
+HyperGlitch If he's going to do one as high quality as this, it would take much more time than 1 month. As an excample, this video took 3 or almost 4 months to make.
I used to think alone all these things since my childhood; some ideas vague and some ideas perfectly matching. And I used to wonder how many people in this world would think like me. I am glad there are many and thanks for this video it's absolutely satisfying.
Yesss. I'm glad I'm not the only one. I used to ponder on about stuff like this as a kid, but these theories were there all along. I also used to think I'm the only real character and all others are just robots or something, it was pretty weird lol..
I’m just glad we’re in a well thought out situation. Imagine being an npc in a modern game it would be hell we’d pop in and out of existence constantly based on the players frame of refrence.
His voice is incredibly soothing when one is watching at 1 AM and is dead tired, but such conditions also make it very difficult to actually understand what is going on.
dark city was actually the first movie that got me thinking about this. not as complex, but more dark. also waking life. but yea the matrix helped. i appreciate the Conway's Game of Life breakdown. i finally understand it now
i discovered this channel about a week ago have been binging your videos since i simply cannot believe how this content is available for free. The quality and contents of your videos is extraordinary I turned my adblocker off for you
The pre level 20 zones try to prepare you for the level 20-40 zone, but all the quests and information about the game you get in the level -20 zones changes in the next area. So you can't ever truly gear up to prepare for it. Some are more or less geared than others, but all doing the same raid as different classes. I'm lvl 34 getting ready for the 40-60 zone. End game looks like it really sucks from here. All the quests and job classes in the game at this point aren't interesting or engaging, and there appears to be a -2% movespeed debuff on every level after 40. Also this is a sandbox game. There's no real objectives you just make them for yourself til your game time runs out.
I just wanted to start over, you know, with different class and focused more on Drawing skill and then unlock Graphics Design perks and... ah, so many mistakes I've made. 😞
21:55 Honestly, this might be one of the best most compelling explanations of the fermi paradox, I've ever come across. The idea that once the virtual reality technology advances far enough, real world exploration and expansion could become pointless. Amazing video.
To me the best solution for the Fermi Paradox lies on the fact that we are vastly overestimating the feasibility of interstellar travel (let alone intergalactic travel). We are assuming that a sufficiently advanced civilization would "naturally" be able to create spaceships to travel vast distances like, say, within a galaxy - like in Star Wars or Star Trek where they "jump" from one point of the galaxy to another. My argument is that even for an extremely advanced civilization interstellar travel would be near impossible. Intelligent civilizations, like ours, are simply to isolated in the universe.
@@PanzerVII-df8hg Then we would already have encountered such beings! That is point if the Fermi Paradox! There has to be a reason for this "silence". And the point I was making was that complete isolation is the reason alien civilizations cannot contact each other. Sure they can build complex megastructutes like Dyson spheres but no matter how advanced they are they still have to adhere to the speed of light limit and other laws of physics. And no, I don't think they would find a way to travel those distances! We are just too far apart to even comunicate effectively let alone travel to/visit other civilizations.
We only get several billion years before this planet gets swallowed by the sun, the last of black holes end of life time are estimated to be more than quintillion times longer than that.
Complexity and more information is added to things when we try to look something closely, like observing a glass breaking in slow motion. That just blew my mind.
This is literally where my novel centers on, but with a fantasy setting. The main character, writes a fantasy short story, then ends it... But something strange happens, the period after the final word in his book suddenly became a comma, then inverting reality into fantasy, even though the normal timeline still continues since after the plot is done and he wakes up from overwriting his short story... the time in the clock, the date, the events, the noises, is still the same. And end with him questioning himself, what if there are other people from other timelines can control reality like what happened the whole time (since he was in control of the timeline he accidentally went into)

If it weren't for the laws of physics we could create a simulation so accurate we could legitimately predict our own future by running a exact simulation of the universe, we could witness ourselves be created.
I never even thought about what he said in the conclusion- that instead of exploring outwards into what we perceive as the real universe, civilisations would prefer to explore inwards into simulated realities instead and that's why we've never had true, undeniable proof of aliens, as they don't care about exploring the "real reality" when they could be exploring their own perfect, computable simulations. The argument of if intelligent alien life exists out there or not has been something I think about a fair bit, and I never even thought of this perspective before. Quite fascinating.
