This dude is incredibly thought provoking. A physicist, but his account rejects materialist reductionism and dualism, and seems like it emphasizes involvement, relationships, and patterns, rather than a collection of substances. It's very fruitful to me.
Everything was great, awesome content... if only there were less "yes" remarks after every sentence that professor Tegmark made. It's similar to mouth breathing to me. Very annoying to say the least.
He contemplates everything in a math universe except eliminating capitalism. Apparently exploiting working people for the enrichment of the few is good for the universe. I recommend a good reading of a social scientist named Karl Marx. To say that the poor could get richer at same time as the rich get richer is just freaking dumb. I may as well race my wheel barrow against a locomotive. He gives great praise to the Soviet sailors for refusing to launch nuclear bomb but does not give credit to the Russian workers for overthrowing capitalism. The Soviet Union managed to move from horse and buggy age to Sputnik within 40 years through a degenerated workers state dominated by Stalinism where the lowlife Stalin proclaimed "socialism in one country". Humanity can do much better than allowing competing nation states with nuclear weapons. The international working class is the only force on earth that can change the world for the good of all. Simple math can explain that...
@@powrobe2 Good, then I get to play exposè without rebuttal. You're quite obviously an uneducated parrot. Worthless in your own right, with nothing to your name, you blame everyone and everything but yourself. Oh, if only the world would unite to *give ME stuff* everything would be perfect. Of course the world's problems rest on free market dynamics, THAT is the ONE PROBLEM in this impossibly complex world of human social organization. Forget game theoretic dynamics muddying up any sort of multi-agent system, it's fucking "capitalism". You know who has all the answers? Some grey bearded Jewish man from over 100 years ago. Peak human intellect already occurred. You know why you don't have any power or status? No one took it from you. You're just a near-worthless mouth to feed, completely replaceable in this world with another 7+ billion just like you. Go create something, your own idea not someone else's, maybe then you wouldn't be so pathetic.
If you understand number, you fundamentally understand relationship, therefor you understand the manifestation of reality. However, you do NOT understand reality itself, which is INDEPENDENT of the frame defining how numbers relate. There are many "realities" in terms of manifestation, but there is only ONE, UNDIFFERENTIATED/NUMBERLESS ground from which each if these "realties" (think about related etymology of reality and relationship) emerge through boundary constraints.
If we are going to talk about numerical/mathematical relationships, shouldn't we first understand the significance and ontology of NUMBERS? What is the relative (relational) information contained within each number?
New viewer new subscriber. Great content. I'm a postgrad' student and these interviews will be much appreciated and listened to during my daily bus commute.
Thanks for the sub & kind words Evan!! Share with the fellow intellectually curious students around you, let's get more of these conversations happening around our world :)

Wow! You interviewed Max Tegmark? So cool! I didn't know he was around :)
Relationships are exactly what mathematics is! Thoughts are nothing more than the expression of relationships! Vendanta explicates this perfectly, and has done so for thousands of years (?most probably eternally).
Beauty, meaning, and purpose, are just like everything else - processes that exist as relationships between things, not as substances or properties. They involve life, but life is only a necessary, not a sufficient condition. You need a world.
12k subs and ur monetized already? allowed me to offer an opinion- these very interesting long talk format shows are perfect for drives, jogs, housework etc, and when you put ads this makes them no longer usable for this. You would make more from merch sales in the long run as there are many long talk channels with 100k + subs that dont monetize that have the same or similar guests, people just type in the their names and get the same info. I really enjoy your channel, but when you monetize you lose viewership retention, and if you force ppl to get yt red, well then you lose your revenue altogether. You are essentially committing marketing suicide, and I'm a branding/marketing professional. Just one man's opinion :)
@@SimulationSeries np, I really like your content and hope your channel does well. Also, if you are open to new guests to discuss simulation with alternative theories like how the bible is a book about simulation, just let me know :)
Hi Loopuleasa, Allen is always aiming to grow & become a better interviewer. Max shares a lot of really important truths for civilization to hear, which is why Allen agrees with him, but how would you recommend he move the conversation next time? Thanks for watching!
@@SimulationSeries. 2100 will be too late for me. I hope it will happen much earlier even as early as 2029 at the beginning of singularity that Ray Kruzweil signed. My introduction bit.ly/2Id6eL0, bit.ly/2eARyEx bit.ly/2nR4MAP
