My take on the recently released C-47 from Microsoft and Aeroplane Heaven. We'll take off from AYGN in PNG, make our way to Turnbill field, and return to AGYN.
Both AGYN and AY03 were customized for a World War II airfield look and feel. These customizations are available on flightsim.to using the links below.
There is a unique air drop feature included in this release. The inclusion of the glider is an interesting twist with some great potential. On initial release, I rate the glider as lacking a bit lacking in functionality. The sound model is different from the DC-3. My opinion is that it doesn't sound as good and there s some fidelity loss in terms of ground handling and flight model when compared to the DC-3 with the Duckworks mod.
I also think there was a missed opportunity to include additional liveries without chasing them down on the Aeroplane Heaven site. The lack of an RAF livery is inexcusable, although there have been liveries created and released since product launch as freeware on Flightsim.to.
The proceeds from the aircraft for the first 30 days are donated to the USO. Good cause. My initial impression is that this was rushed to meet the 80th anniversary publication deadline. I'll look forward to future updates, either by the community or from Microsoft and Aeroplane heaven
