harsh on italy. but this italy team has really closed the gap on the others and will only continue to improve. wales got the rub of the decisions, this game was much closer than the scoreline shows.

Harsh on Italy? Hardly. The second yellow could have easily been a red. I can’t find a single penalty decision that wasn’t a penalty. Maybe Italy should stop infringing so much. They are a vastly improved team, even from 5 years ago but I’m sick of the rugby world denigrating when Wales win. Especially in cases like this when they are Deserved winners.

@@yogamoshi567 Italy choked on a lot of tries Wales should have won cuz they made less mistakes but at least One evident error Is the not try when brex couldnt score cuz the 10 Wales was offside so the score should have bene at least 29/22, double tackles on non ball carriers and the n10 offside tackle should have awarded a penalty try. The other are deserved imo

@KiVori I'm unsure about the owen Williams tackle at the end however the tackles off the ball should never leed to a penalty try because if they didn't tackle off the ball then it would not of been an inevitable try.

Just pointing at some debatable ref decisions. 1) on the 2nd welsh try: number 3 red seems to jackal from the side of the ruck. At least should have been checked. 2) Brex knock on/try not awarded to Italy, the ruck is formed by Welsh number 14 who then falls away, but the contest was formed so 10 was offside

clearly wales should have been playing 14 italians for the second half , the yellow was clearly the wrong decision its red allday mate.

@@benm1308 Offside lines are created at a tackle when at least one player is on their feet and over the ball, which is on the ground. Which seems the case here

Rugby rules explained: "A ruck is formed when at least one player from each team are in contact, on their feet and over the ball which is on the ground." Tackler and ball carrier were both on the ground (so off their feet), support player (5) was not over the ball but waiting for the pass off the ground from the ball carrier. Ruck had not been formed so Wales 10 can make the tackle. Wales 10 did push another support player prior and this may have been a reason to penalise.

Beh al 25' Ruzza a 2 metri con 2 uomini liberi a destra, li guarda e non gli da la palla. In diretta si è visto uno degli allenatori in seconda che grida "Perché non l'ha passata?" Ma poi errori molto elementari, Cannone ammonito per non dare una meta, così cartellino giallo e meta tecnica. 3 placcaggi mancati allo stesso tempo nella loro seconda meta. E poi siamo stati davvero troppo fallosi.

A score was more lopsided than the play, but as it happens regularly with Italy, it's a tendency not luck. They should do something about execution within the 22, because they give away so many points every match.

It wasn't as one sided as the scoreline might suggest, but Italy were still too error-prone and lacked discipline. That elbow to the face would've been a red card had Karl Dickson not rushed in to convince the ref to downgrade it to a yellow. Some opportunistic tries for Wales, which some people are calling lucky, but then when they don't try to mix it up people call them boring. As always, it's the scoreline that matters.

I quite agree, not giving a red card to the Italy nr11 was a bit one sided. The problem was ill discipline, not the ref.

One of these days italy will win a trophy, not for rugby though unless it's 2033 . Love their flair tho & a good coaching team to build on what they have and it'll be a better 6 Nations for all to enjoy . Ah England hush lol . Refereeing was terrible. TMO need to check all tries for any infringements. Italy should have finished that amazing move but Wales player was clearly offside making the tackle to prevent the try.

there was no ruck formed so it was open play, no off-side. To be fair to the officials, they took their time considering the decision and it involved all 4 of them. But I am surprised that they did not look again at the Josh Adams disallowed try- i thought he grounded it, but maybe it wasn't.

first two tries should not have been... you can play as many shapes and lines as you like but if you dont front up and defend your line you lose....

I cant understand how in rugby a referee can award a penalty try and a yellow card. Surely the 7pts was punishment enough for Italy. Yes you might say there was an infringement by their player but cant they be given a final warning instead? All sounds a bit too pedantic.

When a penalty try is awarded the rules state that the guilty player has to be yellow carded. I agree the ref made some poor calls but this wasn't one of them.

that's how penalty tries work- if you read the law, giving a penalty try means you have to give a yellow card to the offending player

Two poor teams playing extremely poor rugby. Throw in some bad refereeing decisions (which has been way too frequent this tournament) and some 50:50 plays coming off for Wales, you have to feel bad for the Italians

Wrong. Owen Williams would have been offside if a ruck was called. A ruck was not called, ergo he was not offside and allowed to make what turned out to be an amazing tackle.
