I saw Rainbow in '79 solely on the strength of this song, which was starting to get radio airplay. And they didn't play it in concert. I remember reading many years later that their stubborn refusal to play this song, for whatever reason, pretty much killed them.
I wouldn't say it killed them really badguitar, it's just Ritchie Blackmore, wanted to go off and do other things Blackmore's night for instance, although rumour has it that Ritchie, came to hate since you've been gone, so it could well be the very reason it was left out some Rainbow gigs.
I always look forward to your daily uploads as you often post great songs that I have either long forgotten about or had never discovered. Today's three selections are no exceptions - great guitar tunes. Really enjoy these videos, especially the cover/lesson combos - I find them really helpful.
Thank you for this song. This song was in HEAVY rotation in Pittsburgh in the early 80's.I always loved it. I defy you not to speed when hearing this in the car:)
a blueberry orange popcicle 917 ....thanks .... rainbow..... nice job.......do you have a tele...... i did also like the face paint.... and that you are still here.....
Stone Cold and Man on the Silver Mountain? Maybe they weren't "Hits." My Maria and Shambala are basically the same song so that probably makes it a One Hit Wonder. BW died too young, sadly. Whatever, thanks for diggin up an oldie but a goodie.
dear James James I've just watched your final video on pt and I'm pondering on the fact: where did you get your gold top Les Paul, for what price, and what year? please respond :-)
A lot of your tones use reverb. Is that a personal thing, is it something you adjust/consider for the song you are doing or something else. Or does it just sound good?
