Bro, no lie, I been using it for almost ten years and I literally can sing now, I just can’t hit high note but I’m getting pretty good, just keep practicing seriously
Shared this on Instagram, and many of you have requested repeatedly that I also repost these IGTV vertical vids here on RU-vid as well. So I’ll keep posting these in between the full-production lesson vids.
You are not just a singing teacher. You are THE ONE for me. :) And it's a gift to practice with you one and one. I can just suggest him to anyone. I've never thought that I will reach my milestones, but by Eric I could do it, so he's incredible.
I have been contemplating doing music or not for a while now and it was mostly because I felt like I had a weak voice. Since I've found your videos I've found out how to use my diaphragm properly. I have a lot more confidence now and I think I want to get back into music again. Thanks for the inspiration ^-^
with this video, i realize i have been trying to control my exhale when singing via the throat for my entire life. i have never understood how to properly achieve a resonant head voice, as you demonstrate here in your Whitney _"How will I know?"_ snippet. i may not to be able to instantly achieve good chord closure/adduction and breath control from my sides and back (and not throat) today, but at least i know what now to aim for in the days ahead. holding the breath back - the yang - in the body as opposed to the throat (and getting better vocal fold closure as a result) is my new goal.
That's what I call a proper lesson! Packed with knowledge and information, tips, examples, how a warm up or an exercise will help later on. No bs, straight to the point! Thanks Eric!
EVERY TIME I watch a video of yours I’m either reminded of something super important, or learn something new of great value. 🙌🏻😎. Thx E! Keep doing that!
Just found you from Tik tok. I have been attempting to teach myself to sing for two years. You have lit a new fire of motivation in me and I am beginning to practice everyday again. You’re just explaining this in my typa language. Thanks Eric!! 👏🏾
Wow, that warm up/technique combo really makes a difference! I have struggled with having a weak voice and this has just changed things around for me. I can't wait to hear what I sound like after more practice. Thank you!
Appreciate these videos!! I’ve listened and practiced to your vocal warm ups for years now, and have DEFINITELY noticed improvement on my singing. For those that want to learn how to sing, this guy knows what’s up!!!
It's odd...you talked about building power by singing quietly. I sing to myself under the blankets when I can't sleep. You talk about singing with the muscles in your ribs and lats....I do a form of exercise that stretches and strengthens those areas. There is a delicious synchronicity at work here....but I don't know what to do with it. I'm just enjoying your lessons and playing with my voice. My crush on you is healthy...and safe. IT'S AAAALL GOOD!
This is the best breathing tehnique video ever! I am a bass baritone like you and I have problem with tension becouse of anxiety and this is worth a lot for me. Kind regards from Croatia!
I found this useful. Thanks.... I feel it's tricky subject for so many people trying to get power, volume, sustain, or even trying to mimic what sounds like belting. I am but a layman and miles from a a qualified vocal coach.
Eric I have been subscribed to your channel since 2006! And you have evolved in your knowledge and the way you are conveying it so so much that in my personal opinion, you are the best! Please keep on posting your IG videos here too!
I would lov e to see a video showing how each and (almost) every warm-up exercise translates to directly to singing. It's hard just imagining, and guessing your way through! Thanks Eric :)
I watched so many videos on breathing correctly while singing. This is the one that does the trick for me. Also there are so many contradicting info out there. From experience, this seems to be the best method.
I APPRECIATE YOU SHARING YOUR KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERTISE ABOUT SINGING. i LEARNED GOOD INFORMATION BUT NEVER LEARNED TECHNIQUE. I TRULY LEARN EVERYTIME I WATCH YOUR VIDEOS! THANK YOU SO MUCH...
Well explained brother! I teach piano, music theory and composition myself, so I appreciate my fellow teachers demystifying complex techniques. Keep up the good work!
I can't wait to get some cash so I can just give it to you. Lol your a walking vocal body encyclopedia. Lol continued greatness and until next time, thanks for this.
MY GOD MAN !!!! ITS INCREDIBLE IVE ALMOST USE THIS AND APPLY FOR SINGING R&B AND WOW!!!!!!! EVEN NEYO!!!! 😭😭🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 IVE TOTALLY PERFECT IT !! 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 THANK YOU
Have been looking for help in singing but you are really helping me alot I wish I could explain more but thanks 🙏 alot am learning alot God bless you Eric
Dude you are awesome! I'm so glad you exist because without you I wouldn't have the courage to try and learn to sing. Is my dream to be a singer but I was too self conscious and i have hearing difficulties (Almost deaf) so its hard to hear my own voice. Are you still doing Skype section? I need someone who can hear me and tell me what I need to do to really improve. I've done everything you said to the T.
Definitely was Gold. Thank you again for this very surreal piece of advice and help. Sometimes i wonder if I'm on the Truman show... ? What i really appreciate though is the way you connect these elements and these movements in a holistic way. For me , i have found it to be quite a spiritual journey even. My rib break accident forced me to see just how terrible my breathing was, even before the accident i am pretty sure it was terrible.. From someone who suffers with performance nerves, (still in the process of finding the muscle groups and trusting them) its reassuring to hear you include the part about never having to worry about the technique ever again. once you learn it, you'll never forget. Its a really soothing thought to know that, if i can engage those muscles on command through this type of practice that i will arrive at that place. I kind of knew there was something like this at the end of the road, or at least further down the road. So, thank you again for sharing this wisdom. I wish you all the best for trying to help those that need it. Good Day.
Key element to inhale to activate abs JUST A LITTLE. That way you inhale to back and other places too. Thanks for video. I was afraid to expand my ribs cause my belly came in, but it turns out that's ok.
Eric, I wanna thank you because I have been improving since I am watching your videos! You are a man! As far as I know, there are 2 main vocal breathing techniques: 1. Belly singing (inhale mainly to belly, classical vocal coaches often speak and teach this way, the oldschool way) 2. Diaphragm singing (when you inhale, breath to side ribs as you showed in this video ) As far as I got, this video is about 2 way, that is more modern. Can you clarify this theme please, because there is no such a topic that opens up this sides. Iam learning to breath and sing again, because Ive learned old way, this answer would be useful for many people. And your old videos "advanced breathing" p.1, also other videos "how to sing from diaphargm " (where you say to breath to your balls), are not the same idea as you explained here? The techniques are totally different, I am so confused, how to practice and how to sing, from where lets say. Thank you in advance! I would be very grateful!
Hey Alan! All breathing is diaphragmatic; it is the only way in which a human can breathe, as the diaphragm is our primary muscle of respiration. Because we do not have proprioceptive nerves in the diaphragm, we cannot feel it directly. So, we are made aware of its action by the movement of the muscles surrounding it. In the AApproach method, we often start singers off with awareness of their belly first, for no other reason than that it’s often the easiest for them to feel and to see move (versus the typical high constricted inhale). As we get more advanced (which I feel many of my viewers are after so many years), we integrate more and more of the respiratory-posture muscles (lats, transversus, posterior chain, etc). We refer to this as the “process of awareness”. Gradually, we attempt to awaken and strengthen denser-but increasingly important-muscles: back muscles, pelvic floor, and rib cage/intercostals for example. Ultimately, even though the lungs reside relatively high in the torso, we’re aiming for the feeling of a full-body inhale-grounded in the pelvis as the back lengthens and rib cage opens. Because we eventually get so much more length in the torso and expansion in the rib cage (and activation of the transverse abdominis), the belly naturally gets drawn inward and upward; it’s not contrived or contradictory. It is merely a natural result of the respiratory system being utilized more completely and efficiently. Hope that clarifies things. I break all of this down step-by-step in my “Breathing Bootcamp for Singers” video series, available on my site 🙂
Thank you! 🥰 I can always use another tool to help with my singing! 🤘 If I could just figure out how to get my sinuses to stop draining down my throat. 🤔 I guess it’s better than it coming out the other way. 😂
God bless you Eric. Thus far you had been informative about singing. Question for you. Since I'm considered a second tenor. My question for you is how would sing vocals such Marvin Gaye? Write back and be blessed!!!🙂🙂
HI I actually have justin bieber like voice and my age is 17 but i dont have money to buy his course. Can anyone help me because my parents dont want me to be a singer. No problem if you cant help me so please dont give hate comments. Thank you
To be honest Eric Arceneaux sir, I owe you a huge thank you because seriously i started watching your videos yesterday, and my voice have improved in hours, i can even belt, but i have a problem with mucus in my throat do you have any tips on how to get rid of them, please😍😍
Can someone please help me? I’m new to singing and whenever I sing for about a minute my throat muscles start to hurt and I don’t know why!! Please help
Hi. I don't know if you still have this problem, but I think it might be because you're relying on your throat muscles too much while singing when you should rely on your belly/diaphragm muscles. I'm not a professional singer, nor am I a vocal coach, which is why I suggest you to watch Eric's "advanced singing techniques" videos which helped me a lot. I also think that the more you will train, the more muscles that can help you support the sound you will develop, and the more stamina you will have !
This is a very interesting video with a really powerful idea and perspective on yin and yang at its core. I was hoping you could expand on the moment you say my understanding of singing and my idea of what singing is may be off. What is singing to you? How do you understand it and what does it mean to you? Is it a form of speaking (i.e. a more emotional, vocal method of communication, for example) or do you have a completely different view? Thanks for your videos and the details you include in them for free, I learn something important every time I watch one.
So I don't know how to do belly breath perfectly but I have been practicing it for a while now watching your some old videos of Breathing .. And doing this is completely different.. So should we ditch the belly breath completely now?? P. S. I am a fan and I started practicing singing watching your videos.. Thank you for being out there🙏🙏
