Punggol NL is not cheap, neither is it extremely expensive. Beside the drumstick, Ojisan ordered 4 dishes for himself. For his wife, although he order chicken wing, the Nonya Otak is alot more expensive than normal otak. The first chilli that he ordered look like Hae bi hiam, this is not free as it is considered a separate dish.
Traditional bean curd hot is the best and most preferred more like a comfort food. And it's usually freshest and hot ones are softer too. Cold ones may be overnight?
Nasi lemak in the old days come wrapped in banana leaf. Those are the original and are the best. Go to Bedok bus interchange. There's a store there selling good banana leaf wrapped Nasi lemak.
As a thai person, I prefer the original nasi lemak done by malays rather than chinese. Idky. it taste different. i guess bcs the creators of this dish is by malays. Maybe that's why it's much more delicious 💕💕
Ghib san finally try the famous Nasi Lemak in town! My dad bought this for my family because my family loves it. As for the price, yes it is slight more expensive. There are a few food you need to look out for not just for Punggol Nasi Lemak, but whenever you buy Nasi Lemak.. 1. The Otah or Otak. Normally the otah cost 0.80 to 1.80 depends on where you buy, this is the thin slice Otah. If you see those Otah that is a huge chunk like a slab of otah, the one she said is Nyonya Otah, this mean the Otah is gonna be expensive. Even Kopitiam one can cost $3.50 per piece. 2. The fried chicken. If you order the chicken drumlet, chances are its gonna be more expensive than the chicken wings haha. By the way, the sotong balls are chewy and kinda nice.
after covid, you should go to Kampung Baru in KL, and try the nasi lemak there. for the nasi lemak you eat here will cost only around 300 yen to 400 yen only.
Your Nasi Lemak has 5 toppings (Chicken drumstick, peanuts with silver fish, sayur lodeh/ curry veg, long beans and hae bee hiam/ Sambal Dried Shrimps) so it's gonna be expensive. If you don't want it so expensive, you can order their sets, set 1/set2/ set 3 in 1:31. Mostly. we would have 3 toppings so it would be around $5 to $6 at this place.:
Star butt is one of the way to check if the durian is really musang king or not. Also look at the tip of the thorn, it has purplish tip. The flesh of Musang King is also very thick and the seed is flat and sometimes twisted.
$12 is exorbitant! for Nasi Lemak. To me the sambal does not look like the sambal tumis (Malay word). The best were in the 60's. The rice and the sambal makes the difference. In my opinion, the best way to eat Nasi Lemak is with fried fish or ikan bilis with cucumber and a slice of omellet egg (that's what you get packet in banana leaf)) together with a cup of tea or coffee..
Yes agree with you, what you just described is the “real, original “ nasi Lemak and that should be the way, just “lemak “ rice, fish , Ikan bilis, peanuts , omelette (egg) and the “must “ a good chilli sambal and slices of cucumber!! 😀👍👍
@@loveispatient0808 Yes, it used to be simple. Nasik Lemak was sold only for breakfast. Any Malay stall you buy from would have the same quality and standard. Things evolve with time, in my opinion, the fried chicken and otah goes well with the coconut pandan flavoured rice and sambal.
Hi u try buying the same thing u order, the price will be different....please ask them to list every item u order in the reciept, they always make mistake charging u...fyi only......
Maybe, u can do a nasi lemak theme and try a few famous nasi lemak in Singapore. There is Chinese style and Malay style. Maybe u can compare the difference in the taste and maybe the price too. Be careful don't eat too much as anything cook in coconut milk is not so healthy.
Traditional nasi lemak was very cheap in banana leaf till it becomes mainstream and start with selection of ingredients that make it expensive. Punggol is good but pricing is overrated.
if you're going to spend so much, its best you go to the Coconut Club at Ann Siang Road, they make the coconut milk that they use in the rice, from scratch. otherwise, just go to other hawker nasi lemak stalls.
Ojisan, next time go over to tanjong katong to discover an outlet of punggol nasi lemak there too and the crowd and queue is no different here during peak hours. Also there are many nice food shops there too. Banzai!
Yes! Their rice is so good. Their ikan billy also. Can’t find another better than this. And yes, their egg is by far, the best I had in nasi lemak. Most shops outside would deep fry the egg till the yolk is hard and dry. This place, their egg is also done just nice. Still runny on the inside. I disagree with others that the best nasi lemak is halal.
Sorry but Ghib-san, this is not the best definitely, had even better ones which is cheaper than this. You gotta try Bedok 216 Market Nasi Lemak, it's an old couple tending the store with queue. Not to mentioned that place where have tasty fish soup, traditional carrot cake etc
Omg. I was around the hainanese curry rice stall around 6pm this evening. I saw the couple in your video eating outside the stall so this means we almost met. Aiya. Anyway I prefer the Hainanese curry stall just outside the Hougang mall which is in your previous video when u visited Hougang central. The punggol nasi lemak I usually order the drumstick/wings, omelette and normal otak. But seeing you eat, I decided to try the high grade atas otak tom. lo. At the condo rooftop, you can also see fireworks from Marina Bay during the year end countdown and NDP at nite.
Over rated. Tried twice I guess but that was very long ago , probably 10years ago . Maybe I like the Nasi Lemak makes by local Malays 😁 It's just taste a lot better. 👍😄
Was there once same place and order a drumstick too. I ask how much is the drumstick only, it costs S$3.50. I commented expensive and the staff replied "expensive den dont eat la". Ever since then I BOYCOTT them. FYI.
Wah $23 bucks? The set meal is $5.20 which is almost the same as yours but plus 2 types of vege then minus the egg too. More than double the price for 2 more vege? I think they sus suks calulate lah. Either that or the nonya otah cost a lot.
If Nasi Lamak don't provide chilli then it ain't nasi lemak lol. Like chicken rice and many other dishes even dim sum, there will be chili provided. I think this is one of the rare occasions he said expensive lol. Usually you will hear cheap.
Try to spread some of the spicy shrimp floss on white fluffy bread! It's delicious and been a childhood comfort food. Bread must be from those neighborhood bakery, not Gardenia etc.
coconut rice topped with deep fried chicken, oily green bean with curry beancurd on small plate... I am not sure about it. You need to think about those saturated fats flowing with your blood.
