You better don‘t book premium economy on any airline. Especially when you fly over Greenland. It‘s almost always located above the wings. So terrible wingviews. Thanks for watching!
Flew SQ premium economy in both A380 (LHR - SIN) and A350 (SIN - BNE) this year. On the A380 is was great, but the A350 experience was dire. Although the in-seat experience is somewhat comparable between aircraft, the A350 cabin is cramped and not at all pleasant. Not sure if that’s a SQ issue or the A350 just sucks.
I fully agree to the point that PY is most often a low value for money. For good reason it is also known as the cash cow for many airlines, generating the highest revenue per square feet in the cabin. I do often find much better C offers at some routes, offering a significantly better product for the same or a little bit more money.
I completely disagree with your assessment. On long-haul flights, especially overnight, Economy is no-go for me. Business Class is obviously preferrred but often Premium Economy is the sweetspot pricewise. For context, on a recent flight from Copenhagen to Bangkok we flew Finnair Premium Economy at EUR 2,250 per ticket (return). Meanwhile, a Business Class ticket would have cost us between EUR 4,000 and EUR 5,500 depending on the airline. Mind you, that's no small difference.
Thanks for watching! It’s perfectly fine to disagree. But 2250 for Premium Economy is just outrageous in my opinion and 4000 for Business Class, too. 2250€ for Business Class is even a high level for Business Class flights to Bangkok. Wondering how many people got ripped of on that flight by Finnair. There are just limits for prices which are normal and worth it to pay: Economy < 800€, Premium Economy < 1200€, Business Class < 2500€ and First Class < 5000€. But usually there can always be flights found which are way cheaper than these at any time of the year. Even during holiday season.
Doesn’t help when their economy product is well above average. Pre-pandemic, they offered pre-departure hot towels, menu cards, good meals and the same high quality inflight entertainment system, just on a slightly smaller screen. I think PE is only justified on a 9-hour plus flight, especially if it’s overnight. That extra comfort comes in handy then. As side note, me being a Singapore Airlines regular, I personally find it funny seeing westerners raving about all this economy class hot towels, menus and SIA in general, whereas I’m like, “Singapore again? Something new would be nice to try…😅”.
Given the price you paid for this ticket, I would be hard-pressed to find any complaints. I would posit that you are just a little too critical of the seat, and I’ve flown it multiple times between the US and Asia in PE on Singapore Airlines.
