The racism in the west are merely suppressed to certain extend by law. The out and down naturally blame colored people not for their own inability rather others hardwork and achievements . It's likely that because you don't have a Thai surname. As a Malaysian Chinese, I did receive very good hospitality when I was there. This is a world with multiple realities, don't just live in one and expect everyone to live in the same one as you. I wouldn't say this is at all confusing and misleading, because... I use my head to think. Having the privilege to travel should instead allow us to contemplate an issue more deeply, not narrowly.

My mum is a local singaporean chinese and my dad held a Thai citizenship but his parents ( my grandparents) were from Fujian who had migrated to Thailand during the war. I took after my dad's Thai surname, and after he changed his citizenship and converted to chinese surname, all my siblings followed after his Chinese surname, i am the only one left in the family with a different surname. On top of that my race is categorised as others. When i i argue that i am chinese they would said but your dad's document is Thai so i have to be a Thai. Not that I don’t like singapore, just that the helped is not likely to open up, for instant like we can pay a amount to our gov, then they helped us career match us abroad for job opportunities, as in accommodation and food we settle ourselves. Like this we remitted money back home conversion rate is a wins-wins for Singapore economic and people that choose this path. As all these years there are S&E that are not willing to upgrade to tech even with subsidies, unwilling to scale up salary, how are we going to success as one United people.

Singapore is honestly the safest country to live in. No natural disaster (except the rare floods) and strict laws to ensure the security of the citizens. Residing in countries where majority of the people are of different race automatically classify you as 2nd class citizen. It's sad but inevitable.
