Nothing much will be changed as they have diluted the votes with Malaysian China new citizens. This allows them to win GE with 2/3 mandate so that they can continue to push through unreasonable policies and take full advantage of locals. They will continue to suck the mother out of each and everyone of you.
It is not they will lose more wards. Singapore will eventually lose her advantage. And Singapore can't afford to lose like other countries. Many people don't understand this.
@@SiongBoonLim Yes you understand so well like the stupid group............why don't you suggest have a election to allow the winner to govern for 50 years...........Singapore will never lose her advantage for 50 years correct? Where is your brain?
The Opps and Sporeans have the right to understand how the elective boundaries are drawn up and not merely dismissive to these qns and keeping everyone wondering doubting
I have no doubt there is gerrymandering. The current form of GRCs is also in serious need for reform. The original stated intent was to ensure ethnic minority representation I Parliament. This same objective can be achieved with the abolition of the GRC concept or an amendment thereof, however you wish to call it, by reducing GRCs to 2 members only with one candidate being an ethnic minority. The current boundaries will need to be changed to take this reduction into account.
IMO expand election also to the "mayor" role too. GRC might be abolished, at least there's another role to shadow the parliamentary seat giving another way to build portfolio. MPs should not hold any "committee" role on a general lower community level, instead it belongs to the "mayoral" role which is the MP liaison and touchpoints. Current GRC systems has too many lackeys riding on the coattails of the office holders and prominent politicians, IMO changing the "mayoral" role as a shadow MP to be elected on the same platform during the GE works to ensure fewer lackeys are elected on the coattails of the main MP compared to the GRC system. MP can still hold "meet your MP" sessions but day to day and the chairman of the CCs/ RNs belongs the mayors. _( all "examples" are just a generalization, any details can be hammered out later by the real politicians if they decide to change the systems)_
The reason for ensuring minority representation in the parliament is kind of outdated. Didn't we have a Indian presidential candidates winning a election agasint 2 Chinese candidates? And from what I hear in the past is that Singaporean actually wanted Tharman to be the next PM instead. This shows that people are voting for quality instead of races. Beside, your idea of reducing GRC to 2 people is not solving the issue, instead making it worse. We will have many 2 representative constituency which 1 of them have to be from the minority, we are forcing the all party to push not so qualified candidates just to fulfil the requirement.
Gerrymandering is assuming they know what people are voting for. The fact is no one knows that future people will vote. If a government is perceive as no good, no matter how you gerrymandering, the opposition is going to win. The idea for Singapore to stand strong is to ensure that when opposition takes over the nation, they take over with a strong convict. This is ensure Singapore remain strong integrity. We are a nation with no natural resources and only manpower resources. Our only advantage is the branding and reputation that has been built up over the decades. What Singapore stands for. A 50%-50% government support is going to ruin the nation. Once ruin, it will be close to impossible to restore back to the unique advantage Singapore has over other nations. It must be a strong mandate when a party takes over the government.
@@SiongBoonLim They gerrymander based on past results but opposition is crafty as they walk the whole region instead. I agree if SG economy and jobs are no good people will vote opposition anyway so it will end up backfire. SG will only lose her advantage when other nations improve down the road 30 yrs, it can be quite inevitable. By the time the votes will reflect opposition is strong. I don't believe the ending is due to opposition destroy the country, but after the country is destroyed already then have strong opposition. Dynasties also rise and fall in cycles, heaven's mandate is hard to prevent.
We are always told our votes are secret. But secrets are known to some and not known to others. Exactly what measures are in place today to ensure that our votes are not known to the EBRC?
Realistically, there is no real secret if you want to talk about the philosophy of secret. We just have to accept to reasonable extent that secrecy is in place. Nobody will take so much effort to figure out who you are. Also, I believe you have voted at least once, you would know the process. The ID on your vote has nothing to do with your collection voucher and is only for verification purpose (accounting, anti-duplicates, anti-fake). The vote is torn from the booklet and nobody has any idea who that vote is issued for. God knows what time you gonna come to the station right? (Okay lah, if you fantasize, the PO that issue you will remember your face, your NRIC and name that they shout out, and the very ticket they tear to give you, but I can tell you all that's in their brain is the allowance pay, when is break time, and whether its worth the Sai-kang). What is really tracked is only whether you Collected your vote in system :)
Just follow the HBD town and put how many MPs based on the town populations can already? Why be so complicated? Only reason is to win comfortably. CCS balls up and go fight Aljunied to prove your point and not hide in Tanjong Pagar like you come in civil service behind LKY.
From the voters stand point, the last 5 years I’m being served by one mp, then the next election I am asked to Vote for new mps. Then how I would I know if this new mp is any good
CCS does not understand simple English. He did not answer the questions at all. The govt should explain why Braddel is part of Marine Parade. Please VOTE WISELY. Make them lose a few more GRCs. Let them know that voters are not stupid.
KeeChiu will never , never, never answer a straight question. He use a communication strategy called :redirection. He really sincerely think Singaporeans are stupid and gullible😂😂😂
I can believe that the EBRC does its work professionally and objectively. Perhaps the EBRC could do a better job of communicating the reasons why they change the boundaries. Else, it may be unintentionally causing division between Singaporeans who otherwise may have had no issues with this matter at all. The Singaporeans who ask questions may not be all opposition parties supporters, but just people who are indeed confused as to why their constituency keeps changing. I believe that there is pride living in Singapore, but there is also pride in belonging to a district or GRC like if one lives in Marine Parade then he/she would feel proud to be a MParader, but if they are one GE in, and then one GE out, that has a negative impact on how one feels about his home, which I'm sure is not what the EBRC want Singaporeans to experience.
Is this in essence a form of unleveled playing field: 1. Ruling party having the state resources to do what it decides to do vs opposition's level of funding , if any. So if the playing field is already extremely unlevelled, then what Hazel proposes is in the right direction for the electorate
Hey CNA, why don't you have the speaking member's name and constituency when they are talking, or start talking? You are a media company, that shouldn't be too hard, rather than just pasting the video wholesale.
if MP to voters ratio can be changed without much impact, how come MOE student to teachers ratio must be uphelded(causing so many educators to loss their job)?
Horse trading between polical parties for boundary, that is what politicians need to do to debate over matter and come out the best policy...why such comments? It is never the later policy is better than the traditional ones. MP that can take care/represent voters(all the more GRC should b abolished as some new MP are not mandated by voters)
Redrawing the boundaries(even to encampus those not adjacent to the current boubdaries) with no explanations is indeed Jerrymandering. How can changing of boundaries serves the voters better(if the location is so far away and the ministor is srving more than 33k voter)? It is quite obvious for increading the odds of winning the contested constituincy. GRC system is also wierld(one Singapore practise it). This allow some new MP to leverage on the stronger MP to get into parliament(not through his/her popularity amongs voters). There should b a rule to not allow new MP to be included in GRC to prevent such situation. Of course the fairest should b to abolish the GRC system. Best is EBRC should have a counter checking commission(set up by multi partisan reps) body.
If 200k residents move house annually, then UK would have much more. So the 200k reason is quite pathetic. If i draw the boundary i may go and track where are my voters residing just before my election. 🤣
Its already this case, east side want change. They consist of 3 generations of Singaporeans progress from Jurong HDB to retiring living in eastern region condos.
EBRC may have public service n other sectors members... Collectively as one council... since it's their designated duty to draw out electoral boundaries. Cohesive as one, acknowledged by the PM.
The good minister's replies are always cringe-worthy, never disappoint with all kinds of motherhood statements. Btw, he could not pronounce "Poa". I wonder how he got there.
Can't the opposition just work with the ruling party instead of finding things to oppose! We are living in challenging times when people are worried about high inflation and climate warming and the future survival of Sge.. Don't hold back the ruling party's policies but see how you can add value to them.
stop ur fearmongering. PAP is a dictatorship! n must answer to why they cheated thru gerry mandering! u are treasonous if u betray the democracy n promoted dictatorship. we build a democratic not an autocratic society
Only those who are too lazy to find out what is happening around the world will on one hand, enjoy the goodness in Singapore, on the hand complain about the firm and decisive government!
How can we know or ensure that the EBRC when doing their review they do not have results of past election by the smaller precincts or districts with them? Smart people understand what I mean, stupid people will accept the view that the process is perfect.
I don't want to be an "idiot" to be able to speak to another "idiot". Play Stupid Party - PSP don't try to chew more than you can, you wouldn't be there if the NCMP was not created for "noise makers."
stop your rubbish. you are from marko n friends, everyone bought so many condos n u also, but u so scared not enuff ft coming to sg. u still having a poor men mentality kiasu mentality. pls grow up. have u spoken to oppies leaders. non of them want u to be in debts n bring down your asset value la. be like marko la, vote oppies for ordinary people
opposition members gave their views and suggestions. Incumbents minister clarified and explained how the systems works. The civil servants on election boundaries will be target for all opposition parties to doubt the rationale of changes. The incumbent government become the party to answer for civil servants. EBRC is the one should be giving the explanation but again this will be never ending debate
Gerrymandering or not, opposition needs to do better. If they can show more value in addition to managing municipal issues, then Singaporeans will give you their support as well.
stop ur fearmongering. PAP is a dictatorship! n must answer to why they cheated thru gerry mandering! u are treasonous if u betray the democracy n promoted dictatorship. we build a democratic not an autocratic society
All the facts have been presented to the unconfident opposition MPs. It's so obvious the opposition has a lot to learn from the first-world PAP govt which is ranked the most effective in the world.❤❤
@@鲁焚化炉 Shopee review also written by many. Review is a review. Who independently audit what is written in review?. To be politically correct, I would say EBRC is not Shopee seller. It's perfection. So if I base on Belief, I may choose to believe it. Politically correctly saying, I believe it. Please don't test the intelligence of the electorate
