Singapore residents could soon pass through immigration checkpoints without the need to present their passports. Instead, clearance will be done via iris and facial biometrics verification. It's part of the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority's digital transformation plans. As more immigration processes get digitalised, officers will be trained to perform more complex roles and non-routine tasks. Over 5,000 officers will be trained by end-2023 in areas like profiling, investigation, and interviewing skills to identify suspicious travellers.

I will miss the officers at the passport check in,for a long time travelling from Australia to Singapore and onwards they are the most professional and loving people I have encountered anywhere,having a bowl of candy is just a beautifull considerate thing to boost my energy, you are all still there for all of us,much appreciated from the best there is in Changi.

Another means to further protect Singapore’s Check-points as ICA officers will have less to do with passport clearance thus can concentrate more in Security.

Singaporean fellas, please be extremely grateful your government initiated this sort of technology which is wayyyy for convenient. Because most of the countries around you didn't have privilege of using this advanced technology and they are still struggling with long queue and hours of waiting. I don't mind such technology to make this easier.But the data in the hands of the Govt i don't trust as has been demonstrated recently. Also they don't have a good track record on keeping records safe.
