Tips on choosing durian. 1. Look for fresh stalk, not dried up bruised stalk. 2. Smell from the top not the bottom. 3. Shake the durian, if the seeds move, the seeds are ripe. 4. Pick even shaped so all compartments have seeds. 5. Look for a trusted durian seller.
Totally agreed. My wife and I was watching this and we were laughing almost all the way. I think she has the humorous gene, like "alamak 辉哥" was discovered by Jack Neo.😁
Ghib, your mother-in-law plays such a prominent role in your videos. Is she too shy to let us see her face? She's like the star of your videos nowadays and makes your videos more interesting.
I am very afraid of most durian sellers as they generally are quite rough, but if you can break the ice with them like his mother in law did, they can become friendly to you.
Wow, next time don't underestimate the small size durians. That one with the golden colour looks really good when you started poking the flesh - its didn't become mushy, just like pressing the palm of your hand. Good deal...your MIL did well :- ))
Thanks for sharing! There are many tips and tricks to selecting good durians, but to be really good, it really comes down to experience which may include a lot of trial and errors and sometimes expensive failures. I suppose for the general public, finding a trustworthy vendor that will not cheat on their customers is the way to go. Rather then trying to get a good deal at various different places each time... it might be better to identify a good stall and always go back to the same one. It may not be the cheapest, but should give you good value over the long term.
Selling durian is one of the most difficult jobs in the world. The daily stress of the vendor's of seeing and smelling it all day but unable to eat any for themselves due to its high cost makes them go crazy after a few weeks or months. Some end up losing money as they use all their salary to buy the fruit, eventually having to find other types of work.
Just over here in australia missing durian season... Your MIL has the exact same mannerisms as my mum and I find it extremely amusing. Much love to u and your family ghib! Thanks for making me drool 🤤
durian seller like malay customers not choosy and know market price. Even though chi sellers they can converse in malay. Thats why geylang many malay customers
Maybe next time u can put kawaii emoji on mother in law face than mosaic. Maybe will look more interesting and fun. Mosaic feels like those japanese news interview.
the 1 basket for $10 is a fun basket, you will get a mixture of durians. they are not of poor quality but just being sold because it's been opened by customers who does visual checks but won't actually know it's taste.
@@funnyclipsutd seems like good deal. But the small durians on the LEFT were originally 3 for $10, the medium durians in the CENTRE were 1 for $5. If u noticed, the seller chose the smaller durians from the left side, which was 3 for $10. They did not get a "bttr deal" they just paid for the 3 small durians at $10, thinking it was worth the medium size durians at $5each
@@1ako415 ya never trust any seller. See the first opened durian which wasn't ripe, he opened and say like so nice like butter durian. Then when she say is not ripe then he knew can't bluff her and agree to change, saying 'u want ripe one ar?' what.. got people want not ripe one?
This stall is near my home. I buy sometimes but certain of the seller is irritating. Very pushy to make u buy the expensive one, even though u said don’t want. So annoyed that I just walked away after that.
Don’t buy the expensive one. I went yesterday. The quality of the expensive one is very bad. Luckily, I finished the durian, I tapao the cheap one. The cheap one is fresh. The expensive one tasteless, probably kept for sometimes
Your MIL is right. Smile, make friends with the durian seller.. he is holding the knife, remember? Try the 8-10 for S$10/basket and discover the sweet, bitter and terrible ones...lol!
No. the "3for10" starts from the 3rd row to his right. It is possible the "3for10" and "1for5" are all the same cost wise. Everybody is happy in the end.
Thai durian if allow to ripen and fall naturally, its actually as good if not better than Msia durian, just that Thai always pluck them when still not ripe, they prefer unripe one haha
