They come for the "poor, submissive, traditional women" as their own women has lost the traditional values and treated relationship like free "prostitution", and also refused to be tied down with marriage. They probably got stumped seeing some South East Asian countries like Singapore are not into Westerners that much and expects to be treated with equal respect, instead of all those "poor, submissive and traditional" women they expected. Believe it not, there's many western channels that currently encouraging their men to find Asian wife from rural areas or poor regions, with Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam and rural China being the main target region.

Its mostly incinerated tho, the rate is quite low. Blue bins are fairly rare and inconvenient and even then, 40% of blue bin items are unrecyclable due to contamination with food. There isn't much effort on educating the public how to effectively recycle. That being said, UK's waste management isn't any better and they ship 50% of trash to poorer countries. You don't hear Asean countries bitch about the UK much tho for polluting SEA with trash as compared to the US & Germany. But that is mostly due to the UK shipping it to Turkey and not ASEAN.

As condescending as he sounds, there's an element of truth to what he says about certain Singaporeans with a colonial mindset who idolise whites. This is probably due to a historical perception that white people are wealthier, dress better, have more fun, as well as influence from western media which panders to the white audience. I think we as a society need to acknowledge this form of internalised racism, and realise that we are just as good and worthy as anyone else.

But it can also be due to too many people asking for a plastic bag over the bbt such that it’s a policy or norm for companies to provide those. And to be honest, I do not see enough people saying ‘no’ to plastic bags for bbt though.
