One thing you forgot to mention is that the 2 screws on the upper left bar that goes over the bobbin case needs to be loosened. They are on pretty tight and you won't be able to lift the bobbin case out unless you do. After that ez-pz! Thanks for all your awesome tutorials!

Thank you so much for showing how to do general cleaning and oiling (so simple!) on this machine! Instructions are not in manual. Stitches are now nice and secure and even.

I have a 4452 and nowhere in my manual does it talk about maintenance, that I can find anyway. I knew it needed cleaning, that's why I'm here. I couldn't figure out how to get the bobbin case back in. And now I know where to put the oil. Thank you!

Your tube advice on singer 4411 is excellent but I have removed and cleaned under the bobbin case and cannot get it back in however I try. Do you have any further advice? Would it be ok to remove the little piece of metal towards the back on the left which is held in by 2 screws whilst I put the bobbin case back and then screw metal back?

I have the 4432 since 2017 and its just fine, no problems. Strange thing is, I also have a Brother 26XX and I think its better made than the Singer but its very tempermental. I use the Singer 365 days a year and will open it up to clean and oil it soon. I use only heavy fabrics with it and its never fussy, thats because it has twice the power of similar machines. You can sew 8 layers of denim with this although I dont recommend that as a daily diet. I made a cover for it on the first day and its really important to keep it covered when not in use to keep dirt out.

I could not get the bobbin case out at all on mine but I found another video in which he said there is an opening in the metal housing where the hook is which needed to be at the back so you need to turn the needle wheel till it is then it came out after some wiggling

I just purchased a singer heavy duty second hand. When I tested at there home all was good... still good however after moving the tension to 6-with 0- length 3/2 I just cleaned as you stated I did a drop of oil Are these machines LOUD? Compared to my brother it sounds like need of repair? On the above setting the upper and lower tension finally look good straight stich However sounds as the presser foot is striking the plate hard

@@NicoleDeAngelis I eventually realized mine was an older/different model. I didn't take it out and just added a couple of drops to the wick through the small hole. Once I put it all back together again it worked!! 🙌 good luck!

Yeah, I have a brand new heavy duty and that case is being held down by a couple of pieces. Hers has the same pieces but they don’t seem to be in the way.

How do you oil the needle bar or clean and grease the gears? Surely this isn't all the maintenance required right? I mean if this is all you do then you still have to take it in to have it professionally serviced?

@@vickistonehouse2218 I came across this guy - ru-vid.com/show-UCDv2cPSdtczncDqYAksT6lA I didn't know this but most sewing machines are built the same way, and he specifically opens up a singer heavy duty and talks about complete machine maintenance and repairs, as he says "... to avoid bringing your machine to people like me." I hope this helps you.

There are a couple of screws on the right hand side that is attached to a small clamp holding the bobbin in. I did this on mine and it came out, just remember to put it back

You don't mention the position of the race hook when you take the bobbin case out. It makes a difference on the ease of removal and putting it back. I forgot what the position is and have to watch a few videos to find who mentioned it.

Found a hack! Hold on to it and slowly turn handwheel. Gently pull and it should pop up!

The bobbin case will pull out as easily as she did in this video, but got to get a few things set up first so it will do that. Do everything that she explained and has shown in her video: take off the needle (or raise it up as high as it will go), take off the needle plate and presser foot as she did. Now freeze the video to see that at the left side of the hook race there is a small gap in the hook race. Turn the hand wheel toward you until the gap is right there. Having the needle up or taken off and having the hook race gap right there at about a 11 o'clock position is the key to lifting the bobbin case out.

@@sarahwolfram4620 Turning the handwheel is moving the hook race and when the race gap aligns to the left that's why the case can be pulled out. You're on the right process so just align the gap before pulling on the bobbin case. BTW, move the hand wheel towards you and not away from you which especially important when the machine is threaded, otherwise, there will be thread jams.

Please read my comments that were posted 3 months ago in which I explain how to get the bobbin case out. The screws are super tight and supposed to stay that way according to Singer customer service on the phone and in an email. Follow my instructions and the bobbin case will come out easily as if floating on air.

Before Covid-19 Corona Virus mask making, this model would often sell for about $150 USD. Now mostly sold out, except for a few sellers asking around $350 USD for it. There are a few online websites offering it for $99 USD, but I personally am not comfortable with the information on those sites so be careful and be aware. IMHO, it is best to wait until tried and true websites or even your local Joann store (NAYY) has them back in stock at their typical prices.
