At age 5 he told his Mother that the piano was out of tune...so...on to a musical education. His Mom is an Opera Singer, his Dad a Pop Singer and Producer. He plays a wide variety of instruments and won a National award for piano in his country.

Dimash is the first and only real alien on this planet. There is no better singer on earth.

Dimash is a phenomenon and widely recognised as the best vocalist in the world. He started singing lessons and 5 when it was found he has perfect pitch. He is university educated with degrees in classical opera, another in contemporary music, pop and jazz with a major in vocal. He also completed a Broadway musical masterclass and has just (18th June 2020) completed his Masters specialising in Composition, and receiving his Masters degree with Honours, having achieved the maximum score of 100%. His range is over 6 octaves (7 now) but Dimash is dismissive and says it's not how big your range is but what you do with it. He has won many prestigious singing competitions and is a decorated national treasure in his native Kazakhstan. He sings in 12 different languages, speaks fluent Kazakh and Russian, is pretty good with English but is still studying it along with Mandarin which he says is a very hard language to learn but again he is doing well with it. In 2017 he was 22 and invited to perform a competition for professional singers in China. He was invited as a wildcard and after his very first song(S.O.S.) was catapulted to international stardom and is now a pop superstar in China. He is also famous in Russia mainly for his neo classical work with Igor Krutoy and many of those works are very operatic. His vocals range from a rich bass baritone through to an extremely high soprano and his whistle register has hit a D8 for 5 seconds with vibrato. He was on a solo world tour until the pandemic hit and in his concerts he normally sings for 3 to 4 hours with an eclectic mix of styles. He is from a very musical family both parents and his sister sing, mother is a soprano. Dimash was offered a place with the Astana Opera in Kazakhstan but turned it down to follow his own path and he has been very successful thus far, but I suspect world domination will soon come his way. He is a multi instrumentalist too and is very competent with 8 instruments but can play just about anything. He is 26 now, (May 24th 2020) and is mostly known as a live performer, he has released a triple platinum album in China though and is about to release a new album anyway now. It has been recognised that his high notes are not whistle, but head voice, Dimash rarely uses his whistle register but when he does its spectacular like everything else about him. He has billions of fans worldwide and I am definitely one of them, and he calls us his Dears, as we are all as dear to him as his family, and he means it, he knows who helped to make him famous. He is a softly spoken, polite, elegant and very humble respectful young man. He deserves every bit of the success he is having, he has worked very hard for the past 20 plus years and now his dreams as a young 5 year old are coming true. There is an interview he did for BBC World Service in 2018 where the interviewer showed a drawing he did when he was 5 of him singing on a big stage with microphones, speakers and his beloved music cassettes showing his desire to be where he is now. His recent sellout world tour has been postponed due to the covid-19 epidemic but will restart when its safe to do so. He has concerts lined up in Dusseldorf, Prague and Minsk there will be others most likely in South America where is much in demand. His name is Kudaibergen dont add the ov that was just because he performed this in Russia and thats their pronunciation, and it wasn't the Voice, he is already a professional singer since his young teenage so doesn't do talent shows. The Singer that he participated in was a reality TV show for the top professional singers in China and he was invited to participate. 💖 This song was performed as a tribute to the original vocalist of this piece by A Studio, the band on stage with him. Unfortunately the singer Batyrkhan Shukenov, died from a heart attack in 2015., The keyboard player, Baigali Serkebayev wrote and composed the song. They are a Kazakh born, Russian based band and they contacted Dimash and asked him to do his own arrangement of the song, and perform it at the New Wave Festival in Sochi in 2018 with them. It was an immediate hit and bought the band a new lease of popularity in Russia, albeit without Dimash 😁 the Goat trill, or a type of very fast yodel is what he was doing, but it's something Kazakh women do at funerals I believe, so that was his tribute to his favourite singer. You might like to know on June the 18th, at the Kazakh National University of Arts, Dimash defended his masters thesis called "Personal image of traditional music." Due to the risk of coronavirus infection, the exam was taken in a remote format. The graduate student majoring in “Composition” received the highest score of 100 points. He graduated with honours and he received a recommendation to enter a doctorate program. I am all proud of him, when I heard I spent the entire day with a daft grin on my face. Dimash bursted into fame with his performance of a french song called "SOS" (full title "SOS d' un terrien en detresse") on the chinese competition show "I'm a Singer" in 2017 (as it's mentioned in the beginning of the video you just watched). His cover of this song is a case study in singing and he is totally going in new places with his amazing talent that no other singer has gone in the past. He is an innovator and probably one of the best vocalists ever. His talents go beyond his insane range, as I'm sure you will discover in the future. I won't go into more detail here, as I don't want this comment to be very long. So, go for "SOS", you will be amazed. I personally believe his cover of SOS on the Singer is the best, the most engaging and well arranged. You will easily find it, it's the one with the most views (more than 11 million).

Russian audiences don’t tend to whoop and scream like say American or Chinese audiences do. But they shower Dimash with flowers at the end of every performance. I prefer it this way.

Dimash is a 26 year old singer/songerwriter/multi instrumentalist from Kazakhstan. Located close to China & Russia. He speaks in 3 languages, sings in more than 12, and plays many instruments from piano to dombra. He's been singing since the age of 5. His parents are both musicians. His dad is a lyricist and his mom sings opera. He also is a very active young man and plays many sports. He has been known to enjoy swimming and has learned some of his breathing techniques from that. He rose to popularity because of the performance on the show 'The Singer', a chinese show, back in 2017. Unfortunately you can't see how many views he has but this video has over 1 billion views on various video platforms in China. He was the only non-Chinese competitor on the show and was put in as a wildcard. His life basically changed overnight. Dimash has a 6 octave range, getting closer to 7 now a days. Honestly the range isn't really what sets him apart as the world's best vocalist in my opinion. He's extremely versatile. He sings songs in all different genres/styles, sings with so much passion, and has unbelievable stage presence. Dimash calls his fans Dears because they are dear to his heart and if you continue this Dimash journey, I'm positive you will become one too :). As far as to what to listen to next, most everyone would say S.O.S, either from the 2017 Singer show where he got famous from or the Slavic Bazaar performance. Enjoy :)

Hello, I’m from Brazil! The story behind this song is very interesting: The band that accompanies Dimash is the same one that composed the song, without the singer who died after a heart attack! The band is also from Kazakhstan and this performance by Dimash revitalized the song. In addition, the final part he added, with an oriental technique (traditional cazaq singing called “Youkatian”). Hi 🙋‍♂️. My recommendation is "Ogni Pietra" writen specifically for Dimash. Its whole classical piece, covering Baritone/Tenor/Alto/High Soprano ranges. Fancam version is the best to me as it gives a closeup on Dimash's face.

The only thing I think you missed was that 24 second section where he did it all in one breath. 24 seconds containing belting, a high mix voice, and then an amazing run. at min 8:09 of your video. Thank you for your lovely reaction! About his style: Dimash sings opera, pop, folk, jazz, rock, even rapped once. He often combines different genres in the same song - most often opera and pop. I've seen this called crossover. Dimash himself calls his preferred style neoclassical. Dimash has a lot of performances and whole concerts on his channel "Dimash Kudaibergen", most of them are with English subtitles. Usually reactors start with the songs from the Chinese contest "I am a singer", 2017, (not the Voice), which Dimash did not win (finished second), but became a superstar in China, Russia and the CIS countries. These stunning performances are not on his channel, they are on videos of Hunan TV and on fan channels (for back stories and subtitles Gloria Wu's channel is very informative).

Hi Elishia, so you were dinashified, believe me he is an alien, breath control vibrato tecnique and RANGE (he has almost 7 oct. range) then he is a very humble person, but you just scratched the surface he raised the bar so hig that singers all around the world have to work very hard to get just a little closer to him. Maybe you didn't notice that at the end when he slided to the hig note and then a beautiful run he made it all with only one breath 23 secs long and believe me I never ever heard anything like that. Wow, you took Dimash's heaviest song as your entry door to his world - and you didn't lose your mind. Congrats on that. Most people start with SOS d'un terrien en détresse, the song that made him instantly famous in China. I would suggest to take either that version or the one that he sang at Slavic Bazaar. Both are excellent, the latter has English subtitles, great if you don't know French. That special voice effect after the falsetto section is a central asian singing technique. Here (back in 2018) it is a separate block from the rest of the song. Now he is able to blend these techniques and ornamentations seamlessly into western singing styles such as scat. You can witness that in the premiere version of Know (New Wave 2019). That shows you that he is not only an outstanding singer and performer, but also a great innovator. He expands on that in later versions of Know where he skips the lyrics altogether in favor of that new blend. These versions are known as Ascolta La Voce or Vocalise. Many of his other performances were already named by other commenters, but these three - SOS, Sinful Passion, and Know - document his development as an artist best, maybe alongside with his very recent livestream performance of Samaltau for the Tokyo Jazz Festival. This is Dimash's world and we just live in it! He's one of the most talented people on the planet, yet is super humble. I loved, loved your reaction. You're just scratching the surface though. Each song sounds different (could be different genres), but most are masterpieces (his English in 2017 required subtitles, but he improved it just like he did with all his skills). The band on stage with Dimash is the band that first recorded this song. The bald man in the white shirt standing up at 11:43 is Igor Krutoy, one of the most successful music producers in the world. He was retired. When he heard Dimash he came out of retirement to write and/or produce songs for him. You will see him accompany Dimash on the piano in several future videos.
