I heard this song for the first time a couple of days ago, I had never heard Ren before. Now I’m obsessively listening to every reaction on it I can find.

I somehow KNEW you would "get" this masterpiece at a deep and personal level. Your reactions are always entertaining and enjoyable, but this was a step above. You connected with us (your subscribers and fans) at a deeper level, and you became even more 'real.' You were absolutely right when you referred to this as art. If you ever listen to this again, just for yourself, pay attention to the differences between the first time he does the "ooh OH OOH OOH ohhh" and the time at the end. The first time it sounds kind of tentative, and shaky and unsure... he's haunted. He WANTS to be carefree and 'up,' but he knows that other side will hold him back. At the end, once he's decided to take the LEAD in the eternal dance, the sing-song is more forceful, happier, and more powerful He OWNS it finally. At least that was my interpretation. Grat reaction!! I wish I had found this sooner!!

You're going to have to keep going down the Rabbit Hole. Ren just released a new video yesterday that's NOTHING like this one (Bittersweet symphony (The Verve retake) . One thing I think you missed in this video is that it was LIVE. That's not pre-recorded music and lip-syncing. If you want to really see his Artistry, you have to watch "the Tale of Jenny and Screech", a 3 part video that is also taped fully live.

I think it’s called your critical inner voice

many people are going to suggest Jenny's Tale (full), Chalk Outlines, & How to be me to start, so let me be one of the firsts. There is so much to be discovered in Ren. He was also in 2 bands (that I know of) going back 10 years. Trick the Fox (he looks like a teenager) & The Big Push (a lot of great street performances) both have channels on yt.

Self deprecating? Is that the term you where looking for? Nice reaction. I was surprised you didn't say something when he stands while singing "as I stand on my own two feet!"

I have watched maybe a hundred reactions to this, and only a select few have commented on the changing guitar styles.

Great reaction. I have been watching Ren busking in Brighton (UK) for seven years and he is never less than captivating. He has many videos showing his versatility and beautiful singing voice but Chalk Outlines (live) is one of my favourites. I hope you will continue on your Ren journey. It's an exciting ride!

Great reaction. A masterpiece of our times. Ren is a true bard, waking up our souls. A truly beautiful song. So powerful. Like a healing encounter having listened to it!

He also did a cover of one of my favourite songs whilst busking in Brighton, Bob Marley's "I shot the sherif." Brave, but it kinda works .

And he does this song in one take and he keeps beat the. Same beat? Throughout the whole song if you ever notice

I've watched a lot of reactions to this, in part trying to understand it more completely myself. It's been fascinating watching different people, even couples watching together, become thoughtful, emotional, or just plain stunned at different parts of the performance (I won't call it a "song") with many reaching subtly different conclusions, none of them "wrong", each pertinent, personal to the individual. . It's been an education.

I have never seen such pitifully inaccurate captions, I could see you reading them a lot, I hope they did not distract you from the REAL lyrics - Ren writes like a poet, captions do him a disservice. Watch it again, with them off, and submerse in the genius that is Ren. Otherwise, great reaction.

All reactors who read these terrible auto-captions have a subpar emotional reaction to the song because they aren't looking at Ren. They don't feel the emotion that he is trying to portray.
