I think one of the smartest moves Whitney ever did was open the vowel on "ALLLL" for this song starting from 88. from 85-87 she kept the vowel closed like the studio version which was savage but opening it gave it resonance, power, melisma and more creative stylings to that one word alone.

I love it! Don't know if you're finished with your Whitney reactions but you must check out the Arista 25th Anniversary special where I think she does THE BEST "Greatest Love of All" rendition. It is perfection. It's the performance that made Whitney my number 1 favorite singer! I think it's the 25th anniversary; maybe it's the 15th, it was recorded in 1989 or 1990. The 25th anniversary was in 2000, she sang IWDWS, IBIYAM, MLIYL, IWDWS, HWIK, and, IWALY. The 15th anniversary was 1990, She sang "That's what friends are for" "GLOA" "IWDWS" and a few others The crazy thing is, she sung the same song like 10 years apart. And they both were good.

This performance always makes me wanna cry. I'm 40 years old and Whitney Houston was the voice of my childhood. The little boy on the seat is now a grown adult man now and he wrote on a RU-vid post of this performance said that it was the happiest moment on his life getting to sit next to Ms. Houston and have her sing to him.

I cannot count how many time I have watched this reaction video, my first time commenting on (shame on me) I love, love, how you point out everything with Whitney's voice, explaining what I am not able to explain myself, the way she sings, works her voice You are right, as always, Whitney's voice is so clear, there is no trying to figure out what she is saying/singing. Whitney's power, the effortless way Whitney sings; she never seems to be straining her voice. I believe Whitney Houston knew her voice, knew her vocal talent, knew what she was capable of, the notes she was capable of hitting and hitting those notes comfortably in her range so that she gave her absolute best always. When Whitney Houston was singing, she seemed to be singing To You, For You, and not singing At You People used to say that Ella Fitzgerald could shatter glass; and I say, Whitney could rattle the rafters Simply perfection Thank you again Alexis!! @@barbarab6609 I was at the radio city hall concert in 1993 and I still get goosebumps thinking about that concert. Her voice was on fire that night. I saw clips of the Atlantic City and she was on fire that night too. She’s the best.

You are honestly one of the best people online to deconstruct Whitney’s vocals/performances! Keep up the great work. I’ve seen other people’s recs on more Whitney performances, but I’d love to also add: 1) Didn’t We Almost Have It All - Live Saratoga’s Springs, NY (1987? Or 1988?) Literally just RU-vid it and it’s considered the “official video” for the song. The emotional journey she takes you on. Whitney TELLS a story and is so dynamic. I’d just love to hear your analysis & breakdown on it. And I haven’t seen anyone else react/review that performance. 2.) Say a Little Prayer for You - Live with Natalie Cole Live with Natalie Cole. Need I say more? It’s so good. And happy belated birthday! ❤️❤️

Happy Birthday, to one awesome lady. No doubt in my mind this is the greatest rendition of this song ever. In many interviews, when asked what her favorite song was from her repertoire, she always said it was Greatest Love. However, her favorite song from another artist was the Beatles 'Yesterday.' What a Birthday special. This is my personal Favorite live version of this song . She has so many but this era does it for me and the way she sang it during the occasion. There is another Beautiful version dedicated to Mohammed Ali & one At the BeBe & Cece Winans special . Wish you could also do The Love Melody & All the man I need from this concert . This is my favorite live version of this song. I would suggest her performances Whitney Houston Live Medley 2000. It is 16 minutes long so of course you probably couldn't do the whole thing but I would suggest "I Believe in You and Me" and "I Will Always Love You"

She’s the best! I remember when this came out it was a bit of a point of contention. This song was considered in its George benson version, a standard and already perfect. No one needed it to be done again, Whitney herself was quite young when she did this. At 22 people didn’t think she should be singing a song that should be from a wiser older person like George at 34! A song to do at the end of ones career like My way or so. The vibe was she should stay in her young party way, how will I know etc… Fact is her first album could’ve been her 10th it was so mature and seasoned. She was set up to command and lead and she had the shoulders to carry the responsibility. People have all but forgotten that anyone ever did this before her and certainly no one has dared do it since! It belongs to her now.I wonder what George thought….?
