Whitney was an astounding talent. Her voice sounds like church bells and trumpets - so much resonance and RING to her singing. With gorgeous tone in all registers - her voice had clarity AND richness - that round full sound. The transitions from head voice to chest belts and landing back on a lighter note like a hummingbird - her melisma and runs were signature and so tasteful. She's at the top of her game here - fully confident in anything she wants to do with the song. With a voice as big as the sea....

This was Whitney at her prime. Even when she struggled with her voice years later she still sounds AMAZING. You know why we are all so moved and touched just by looking at her performance? imho, it's because she didn't just sing, but she meant every word coming out from her mouth. She sang for the Lord, she sang for the audience. She had that deep-rooted gospel singer in her because she started as a church singer, so that attitude was not only confidence, but she's a storyteller, she sang as if she was talking to each of us. She made eye contact with the audience, she smiled, she pointed at them. Also if you pay attention, she often belts one word longer and even adlibing the note. That's how crazy flexible her voice were. No one can beat her to this day. We lost her too soon. We love you, Whitney ✨ Thanks for the Whitney Houston edition, guys!!

One thing I find remarkable is that she has so much power and can produce all that sound from that slinky little body. I mean, HOW???? I love that she makes each live performance a new experience, that she doesn´t repeat herself. And I love how she basically leads the band, that they follow her. The Voice indeed.

@user: That is one of her best! I don't see many people suggest Whitney and Mary J. Blige singing Aretha Franklin's 'Ain't No Way' on Diva's Live, or Diva's somrthing. 😂😂 THAT is one of her best in terms of taking you to church. Pure raw talent, of performance and emotion!!!

It's funny because on the part that you replayed where she hits the head voice and transitions back down to full chest, it's very difficult to do but she does it on the word EASY. Whitney, it's anything but easy to do what you do.

This is the likes of which we will never see again. Whitney was the embodiment of star presence on a stage and a voice to match. Obviously the drug abuse in the end robbed her of that, but she really was something so special before it!

You know, people say singers are one's opinions, how they rank, but with Whitney, that just isn't true. Whitney was truly the greatest, past, present, future and beyond. She had everything and in uncanny abundance. Beautiful tone, resonance, range, etc. etc. When I hear people's opinions of others, especially this one 18 year old, they, actually, think is/are the best ever and better than Whitney, I just have to chuckle. And in conclusion, I have a short list of singers I like, and except Shirley Bassey, I will say, when these singers sing, it seems like they are putting everything into it like passing a stone, I don't mean emotion etc., even the singer I loved, followed, was obsessed with, knew and imitated, but when Whitney sang, she could just part the Heavens. No pun intended.
