Someone wrote that she made her career out of talking about Prince, are you F-----G kidding me, she is very talented, has worked her butt off for the past 30yrs, to make a name for herself.
RD *_You are right!! She is part of the Bay Area music scene!! & her whole family too.. The Escovedo’s as a family are also a huge part of the Bay Area music scene since like the 60’s or 70’s!!_* *_Way before Prince came around.. Prince actually moved to Bay Area to be part of the music scene & met Sheila & the family when they were already doing music.._* *_So Prince didn’t make her.. They were together bf/gf & that just made them both more famous.. & they did music together which did very well but went separate ways once they broke up & she was still doing great.._* *_Still is!! & she has a right to talk about Prince because she was apart of his life for many years even after they broke up! They still did music together so ppl need to stop hating & STFU!!_* *_They’ve known each other for over 40 years!! That person is so rude.. Sorry for the long rant lol.._*
Sheila Escovedo was a well known and respected percussionist, but she became Sheila E. the pop star when Prince guided her career and put her in front. RIP Prince. Your music and influence lives on.
Sheila looks like a nice person , she really loved prince , they way she talks about they were good friends, & Prince must it be a good person too, since he stayed friends with All his Ex,s
you cant bring up prince without mentioning shelia when it comes to his misic.they made great music together.and both will always be remembered for that.i just dont see a tribute or benefit concert without her she was a part of him very much so.i hope she will someday become the tour guide at prince estate cause she made so much music with him.in many ways there were married musically.
Sheila is still a beautiful lady. Such a shame her and prince didn't settle down together. I dont know but did Prince really have it all? I don't think so!
How could they settle down together when Sheila is a lesbian and in a decades long relationship with Lynn Mabry? She was never with Prince or Santana.don't be naive.
@@skygazer6898 Basically Sheila is a great drummer but a troubled soul.she lied about Prince and Santana. She is a lesbian.and also at least one of her longtime band members confirm that 2 me as well
Sheila & Prince were such a BEAUTIFUL couple. I will always love Price, so much so that Shiela E is the closest thing to Prince, and he's from Papa's generation "Little Red Corvette" was what Papa drove in 1982 as a freshman in college, when he met my mother , and they went off to graduate school then got married. He always drove vettes & now drives a red 57 vette.
She was only 17-18 u prick. He made her keep it a secret and drove her to secluded places. Took advantage of her deep love. That piece of shit will have his day.
Carlos Santana played music at our schoo at lunch time for free at Aptos High schoo....I was the only black in my entire school and asked him to play some black music, something with a funky beat!! LOL.... Yep,Carlos that was me!!
Did that host at the beginning say he had a child of 2 years old back in 1984 ? Heck, I thought he was just being born himself around 1984.. Maybe he was just kidding.
I saw him do it! or he threw it on the ground? 1) the jam session at the SNL 40th anniversary 2) Prince's induction into the Rock & Roll a hall of Fame 3)I'm not sure, but possibly the 2006 super bowl
there's a musician's union. If they were underpaid, they could have sued. To the Revolution, he paid 50 grand a year (which in 2016 money is about 85 grand) and they received 1 million dollar bonuses at the end of the PR tour. Prior to that, when the Time was around during the Controversy and 1999 tours, the Time were paid much less...there was pay just to keep them retained... retainer pay (which was 125 a week in 1984 which is about 300 dollars in 2020 money) ...but when they opened for him, played background for Vanity 6, rehearsed or recorded, each of those things got them paid attentional money.. probably more than they were making a week with the retainer. The problem is that when P didn't use them as an opening act in major cities or didn't let them record, they had to live more on the retainer pay...which was tight (but it wasn't that many cities they didn't open on the tour). Prince, according to Dez Dickerson, actually owed money back to his label for losing money on Controversy...he had at the time 15 musicians working for him and lots of other crew and he owed money to Warner Brothers and he was 22 to 23 years old with money managers and handlers helping him budget.. Context is important here. Recently, his guitarist in his last band said she was being paid 5 grand a week and lived rent free with her husband (also employed by Prince) in one the properties Prince owned... Prince's drummer in the NPG Michael Bland said he was being paid the equivalent of what David Bowie was offering. Prince had a management company when Sheila was around and she owed the money to them because she was under the impression that all the stuff she wanted and got was free.
@@sdatkins2676 wow I also heard that Sheila e had to pay Prince and Warner Bros a $1 million dollars after the purple rain tour because she actually thought she was living the glamorous life when she was just trying to promote the album just by being on the purple rain she was out over spending on her budget but all those luxury things and had to pay all that money back because of her spending habits
YOU KNOW THE SHOW BUSINESS LIFE THING IS NOT EASY::YOU CAN'T BORROW MONEY BASICALLY WHAT YOU ARE DOING AND DON'T THINK YOU HAVE TO PAY IT BACK!!! ITS FACT::
+Garfield Harrison It is filled with mafioso in banker's suits with law degrees, but gangsters nonetheless. Artists do not know usually what den of iniquity they have entered until it is too late. Peace.
Business is business that's the way the industry works they give you money to do your album but it must sells to pay all the profit back including studio time ... travel ..etc ..the bonus if you get when signing a contract you keep when you join the company ..if they decide to drop you due to poor records sales than you pay that back out of your own pocket ...I know how it works
I lowkey think the world lost an angel. One less good person in the world and that is what is said about this. I loved and love his music but if the human being could back, I'd rather never listen to his music again. We need more people like him but people like him die off way to fast and people like Bill Cosby are still around.
+M. Robinosn Do you really think Mr. Cosby is some anomaly in that world? He is a dime a dozen. Research the entertainment world at your leisure and be prepared to be shocked. Peace.
