23 seconds in one breath with riffs and runs. It’s unbelievable. He sang this song on the New Wave in Sochi, Russia in 2018. This is an international contest for young performers founded by Igor Krutoy in 2002. Dimash sang here as a guest. This song was in Russian, a language he speaks fluently. And the audience, too😊. The gentleman at the end you see standing and clapping is the famous Russian/Ukrainian composer, producer and songwriter Igor Krutoy. He writes songs that only Dimash could sing with his vocal range, such as Olimpico, Stranger or Ave Maria. You’ll often see him accompanying Dimash on the piano. The two have no contract. Their cooperation is based more on mutual trust. It’s more like a father/son relationship. In this song he sings in Italian. You can find it on Igor Krutoy‘s Channel. Olimpico is another masterpiece that Igor Krutoy wrote especially for Dimash’s vocal skills. It was written for the 2nd European Games in Minsk, Belarus 2019. And that’s why the lyrics are also very motivating. This song and this performance from this Arnau concert is my absolute favourite🥰 I think this version is the best, because his performance is so intense and breathtaking. The light show, the background dancers. Everything. With this song in this version I always get breathlessness. The way he represents himself on stage, the hand movements. I think he has incredibly beautiful hands🤭(and apparently many cameramen think so too, since many of the camera shots during his performances very often only show his hands. Sometimes it seems as if he is conducting himself. This is really fascinating). And the facial expression, the look. There he looks so commanding😱. In my opinion, this version of Olimpico is one of the most impressive performances ever. If you don't know what the song is about, you'd think he was going to war and is calling his army to a lost battle 😅! It’s absolutely stunning. Wait til you hear him sing My Heart Will Go On!! He doesn't sing as many covers as he use to because his own musical catalogue is so vast now. And a couple of the original artists like Vitas and Lionel Richie were not happy when Dimash's versions of their songs was regarded MORE favorably - it is said they asked Dimash NOT to sing their songs anymore - don't know myself if that is true, but he did stop. Reason? Because he made both songs WAY WAY better, he destroyed the originals!!! BTW he does NOT always use his high soaring stratospheric super sonic vocal fireworks. Dimash serves the music and uses his voice to tell a story, paint a picture, transport his listeners to another world. Sometimes he barely sings at all.

Dimash 2023-Vocal range: Growls (vocal fry): G0-G1 Vocal Fry: G#1 - D2 Chest voice: E2-C#5 Mixed voice: D5-C6 Head voice: C#6 - F#6 Whistle: E7-D8 Natural range: E2 - F#6 4.2 octaves *Full range: G0 - D8 7.7 octaves To put it in context: He sings lower than bass in Opera. The lowest note is usually C2....and higher longer sustained whistle note. Total Dimash range is G0-D8. By the way, a D8 is a couple of keys past the high end of a piano. And, I believe his Vocal Fry is off the low end of the keyboard. At the age of 5, Dimash was accepted into the most distinguished music academy in his country, Kazakhstan. He's 29 years old now. He is currently writing his Doctoral thesis for a PhD in Musicology/ Composing, he received all his degrees with honors. He has a bachelors degree in vocals, a master's degree in composition and is about to complete his PhD in musicology this year, all while simultaneously filling arenas and maintaining his performing career.

He's singing in Russian in a Russian city. So, they understand him perfectly. Beside that, it's a very popular old pop song by a band from Kazakhstan (where Dimash is from), with one of the band founders playing piano part. 😘
