Singer Tradition 2277 9 Tension 

I bought my Singer (same model) in November of 18. It’s been nothing but a POS. I can’t get it to sew anything longer than 1/4 of an inch before it’s all jammed up. After watching your video with the SIMPLEST explanation on tension and making sure to get it in the tension discs, i can now sew the width of a sock (test material). I was very upset that this can’t be used out of the box. It was a jam-o-matic and no vids I watched was any help but this one. I’ve had this for almost a year now not being able to use it at all. I’m am more happy with my great aunt’s 100 year old foot powered Singer more than this new one I have because it ALWAYS works!!!!! Even after being left alone in the barn for 10 years. All I had to do was oil it and run it a little while and it works flawlessly with no jams.

Thank you for these videos - pulled my machine out after years to make wedding bunting and was having lots of problems but your videos have really helped me get back on track.

Back in the day we always set the tension on all the sewing machines between 3 and 4 and then they come out with these new machines and decided to stay with change detention to between two and three now I'm happy to see and say that they're back to between for three and four again as it should be it's not broke don't fix it good job

There are some projects I have that might require a longer stitch length only because of the number of layers but I don’t know what to do about tension. Because, if I test the straight stitch length on any two pieces of cotton fabric it bunches and puckers no matter what tension I use. (I just cleaned and oiled the machine yesterday as well)

I have a singer tradition which was sewing well earlier and suddenly it started to loop at the back. I moved the tension up in increments and even at 9 it’s still looping. Any advice would be appreciated.

Do you have a video on why my zigzag stich only does a straight line?

But what about the tension setting in the bobbin? I tried doing what the manual said about holding it from your fingers to see if its tight or loose...I give up!! Or, can you help?

I have the problem of the machine not sewing the material after beginning and no thread being sewn into the material and sometimes the material rolling up at the top.

I think someone turn my dail and me being a new beginner have no knowledge of sewing Machine Idk where it should be set too 😳 pls help . I stitches are coming up ugly in the back or barley sewed on my fabric .

That was not helpful. This is the worst machine I've ever used. Thread keeps coming out of the needle.
