I "met" Dimash with the song "Mahabbat Ber Magan" three years ago, someone sent me an audio file along with the name of the song and recommended that I listen to it with headphones. There were no high notes, no big beltings, no riffs 'n runs, not a single whistle note. It was just Dimash with THAT VOICE fully giving his heart in his first big concert "Bastau" in Astana. I didn't understand a single word and before I was even a third of the way through the song, tears came to my eyes and chills ran through my entire body. At the end I cried like a little girl (I'm gonna be 53 in a couple of months). At that time I didn't know his name, or in what language he sang, much less his physical appearance intrigued me. Rather I envisaged a middle-aged man singing some old sad song, in an exotic language, perhaps with some modern arrangement. Then the next day the same person sent me the link of the video of "SOS d'un terrien en détresse" and... of course the rest is history. For me, Dimash has no equal, nor is any other singer in history even remotely close, and I include The Inca Princess, The Empress Yma Sumac. Every word, or even no words like in his vocalisations, sound so beautiful is his Voice. Dimash is a Whole New Musical Dimension. He has made us respect, like and admire other cultures, other traditions, the differet phonetic sounds and the richness of other languages. He's an Open Gate to Art... and at the same time He is The Embodiment of Art Itself in Its Purest Form. He is a vocal athlete, an acrobat of musical creativity, every single note he plays with that magical instrument which is his larynx is delightful. But first those notes pass through his soul, then his heart, his mind and at the end they pour out all over the scenario mesmerizing all the audience. I'm mesmerized since then, since the very first time I heard him and I know this feeling will never stop.
Dimash wrote this song when he was 19 years old and of course in Kazakh. The lyrics were written by Oral Baissengir. At The Singer competition, he first sang the song in Mandarin to please his Chinese audience and then he continued in Kazakh In this episode he took 3rd place. A really beautyful song. The video with Terry Lin was a performance at the Jacky Chan’s 5th International Action Film Festival in July 2019. Unforgettable Day is the 9th performance on the competition from The Singer competition in China in 2017. Through its honest, cheerful and open nature, he found friends very quickly. Dimash has beautiful duets with many world class singers such as Ulisse with Aida Garifulina, Heaven and Earth duet with Chang Shilei , A Thousand Miles A Common Dream duet with Zhang Yingxi, Ti Amo Cosi trio with Aida Garifulina and Lara Fabian, Swan Goose with Tengri, Jasmine with Wu Tong, You and Me duet with Wang Li. Dimash also sings A Thousand Miles A Common Dream solo as he is the original singer. Other gorgeous Mandarin songs are Ocean Over the Time, Moonlight Mother, Only You, The Crown, The Meaning of Eternity, Battle of Memories, Restart My Love, Just Let It Be (there is also a Kazakh version). The theme song for Jackie Chan's movie Vanguard is Dimash's first song in Cantonese and is a duet with rapper (don't have his name at the moment). Jackie Chan said he couldn't sing that song it's so rapid and of course no one can sing Dimash's version anyway.😄
