Honestly for a vocal coach that's within the range of what I would expect. Costs for 1 hour of vocal lessons in my area range from $50-100, and she's not only toured nationally in Mean Girls, but she's also in a bigger city where everything costs more. Plus she seems to know her stuff. It is expensive but not too far out of the norm.
@@jequirity1 She's experienced but I'd say you'd be better off finding a cheaper local voice teacher for maybe 30-40 dollars per week. And if you are lucky you might even find one for 20 dollars per week.
@@CV-Moore I live in a smaller city but not that small lol I am looking at some coaches who charge around $40-50, but no one in this area can afford to charge much lower than that. I think that there's also a difference between beginner/ intermediate/ advanced and who you should go with, it's kind of pointless to look for someone charging $100+ if you're just starting out.
*sighs in i can kinda sing but my voice doesn’t sound good enough to justify taking lessons so i have to resort to posting poorly done covers to youtube and watch other people living the dream*
Trust me, voice lessons are worth it for all vocal types and all skill levels! If your voice isn't up to par, thats what the voice lessons are for, to improve. If you sound like Mariah, even then, you can keep improving. It's all about having someone correct your technique and help you apply permanent change in the way you use your vocal muscles, which is something everyone can benefit from :)
Tbh, the biggest reason _to_ take voice lessons is not thinking your voice sounds good. It's like sports: yeah sure maybe you can train yourself to actually hit the tennis ball with the racket, and that's great, but it'll likely take waaaaaaaay longer to actually get the level of good you're aiming for at the sport itself without some kind of outside help. Arguably it's a bigger waste of money to do singing lessons if your voice and technique already work for you, but even then it's still some amount of helpful!
I think it's facsinating seeing a powerful singer sing a song for the first time, it realy shows how much practicing a song is important, not just for begginers. That being said... this was amazing!
Oh my god- this is great! Someone needs to get Christy Altomare to see this at some point, I feel she'd be _thrilled._ If the touring production of Anastasia is still going after both lockdown and your run on Mean Girls end, I genuinely think you should try and audition for Anya. You'd bring such life to the role!
Sadly, the 1st national tour of Anastasia has just closed down. The second will start in February, and I think Beth Standford Liard is going to take over as Anya as the plan for the 1st national tour.
Things that stop me from having classes with Mariah -My English skills (they are -10 lmao) - The money - My voice - My Wi-Fi xd Anyway, In my dreams, I have classes with Mariah
I remember idk? A couple years ago I performed this last minute as the opening for the talent show (I didn’t want to enter, just be the opening) and I remember singing it really well but my voice subtly cracked at the end. I was like shiiiiiit. Everyone, even people at the time I didn’t really know came up to me and told me that I clearly won the competition and that everyone was blown away, but my technical ass was like thinking noooo I cracked at the end and ended the long note early. If this was like two years ago, maybe three, I was 14-15. I am 17 now. I remember it was a lot of pressure because I did it last minute, but I really remember how good it was until the end, so seeing you say how hard it is even for you and your students, helps me and gives me some closure. Thank you!
It might sound cheesy, but your singing videos have actually kept me going throughout this quarantine. That, and the live readings of movies with Starkid. You seem like a great teacher and an amazing person, as well as (of course) being a singing goddess. I wish you well! A dislike already? Wow, your haters are super passionate 😂! Can I get some names? lol.
how does one go about being taught by someone this wonderful ?? I’m looking for a vocal coach and if I could speak to this woman for one minute I’d be overjoyed
Maggie Hughes ahhh hahaha! I’m checking out the links now and I’m shocked. I had no idea so many Broadway stars offered lessons! It’s crazy! And MARIAH??? Aaaaa lol
Sophia Redwood yeah!! So many of them have started as a way to make money since the broadway shutdown and it’s been real tempting for me even though I’m broke and absolutely not a singer 😂
i dont even feel comfortable singing in front of close friends/family the one time i sang in front of my bestfriend she called me tone deaf ;-; also, i have social anxiety so that doesnt help, id love to get to a point where i could post to the internet or got vocal lessons or even talk to my mom about vocal lessons bc i love musicals
Honestly this is so relatable When to the person singing, you're catching every little issue you've got with it that you want to improve, but everyone else just thinks it sounds great I'm not even trained nearly as much as she is, I've only had about 3 years of lessons, and this happens to me allll the time lol
I got to see you in the tour of Mean Girls and you were amazing!! I saw it on Halloween last year in Pittsburgh and the fact that it was Halloween was so much fun! (Go Regina!!) 💗💗
I love your critiquing and notes overall, you sound really great Mariah!!! breathing control is something I need to have more concentration over as I practice whenever my family is out of the house and can’t hear me lol
I'd love to see you react to your old videos! I love watching people do that kind of thing, I find I learn a lot through those videos!! Amazing singing as always!!! ❤️
this makes me so happy cause i sang crossing a bridge from anastasia for my theater camp audition! i love using songs from it for my voice type so this was super helpful
This is such a cool idea. I like knowing that vocal coaches can practice what they teach, so it’s really cool that your performing some of the things you’re giving your students.
