Wow. My Great Grandfather just passed away last year, at the age of 97. To be honest everybody in the family were surprised he lived as long as he did. He was a technician from the 40s-80s, he went through the entire duration of lead being put in car fuel, he was a chainsmoker from when he was early 30s to his mid-60s, and he was an outgoing person who still cared for himself many days, living alone. He was awesome, and while its sad he's gone I can only be happy he got to have such a great life, got to pass away peacefully in his sleep, taking a nap while watching a Blue Jays game. 💙
Mine passed in January 3 days after his 96th birthday. He was possibly the hardest working guy I have ever seen. He would go out every day to split wood for his wood stove until he was 95. He also could fix anything. He had multiple vehicles that he worked on until a month before he passed. I remember he used to bend nails pack straight so that he could re use them and he would crossbreed chickens and pheasants to make phickins. He did so many unforgettable things and was loved but everybody. I am sorry for your loss. It seems like your grandfather was a wonderful man
Same, they died when I was born. I wish I could get to meet them. I have a feeling I’d get along really well with my grandparents because of my obsession with old stuff and everything to do with the past.
It’s so much sadder knowing that pretty much every person this man grew up around is no longer here. Nothing but my most deepest profound respect for you and him!❤️
@@Skim_beeble7125 My father passed away just shy of 98. Stayed young to the end. Many of his friends weren't much older than me! Don't feel your friends have to be the same age as you. They don't.
My grandfather just died the beginning of this last month. He was almost 94 years old. He lived an amazing life, served our country for 29 years and was happily married for 70 plus years to his amazing wife, my grandma. He had three daughters and nine grandchildren. He was the last of my grandparents to leave this planet, I was especially grateful to have gotten to know him better in his final years. God bless this generation, they sure went through and saw a lot. I know my grandfather was in the midst of the Depression as a kid living in Algona, Iowa.
@@Loveveggies man it isn’t about the note tuning. Not everyone has a reference pitch to go off of or perfect pitch. It’s about his 98 year old grandpa’s ability to remember a song from his past so effortlessly.
This warms my heart so much. My grandfather is a recently retired mechanic, he had his own shop, and had to close it down due to alzheimers, but I do have myself a classic pick-up and we'll go driving/riding in it. I'll bring him to local car shows and stuff as much as I can because he loves this stuff, but on the way over to these places or when we're on a drive, I'll pop in a cassette, my collection from the 50s-60s, and he and I will sing to it. He remembers more things from his childhood past than recent past, but just to see him so happy hearing this music again and remembering it perfectly brings a smile to my face. Cherish the time you have with the folks, I'm learning this now.
Literally the entire plot of Coco. La Abuelita is a perfect representation of age and it's disastrous effects. But still, moments like this make it all worth it. You are a real one for this man. Keep It Up!💪🏻
I really like "you might have belonged to another" and "i'll never smile again" music from those times are my favorite, hope you and your grandad have a happy day ❤
The old boy reminds me of a soldier. I bet he served his country even though the song has feelings the way he sings.it he probably saw a beautiful honey on tour while he was stationed and has kept her memories all this time in his heart. May be im wrong I probably been watching too many movies 🎬
My grandpa passed away a few month ago , I’m only 12 and I am jealous of my older sister. She had a whole life with him . I only got the scraps. The last time I ever saw him was when he went to the airport with my aunt and he waved bye bye to me . I never saw him again. I will always cherish the phrase “PaPa’s Babies” rest in peace Jerry 🙏 how is dad doing? And grandma ?
Reminds me so much of my grandma, she was only 76 when she died because of a tumor. On her last days to live, we would pray around her bed, and usually with our prayers we sing a couple of church songs. While we were singing one, my grandma (totally unconscious, barely moved and had her eyes closed) started to sort of hum the song with us. I'm happy to see that you still have your grandpa and that he's living a long life, I wish you the best. ❤
@@Sophie0318 hope your doing okay my pop had lung cancer around 65 and died 5 days after my birthday now 5 days after my birthday is like a burden to me
@@Detona-ln8ze i am doing okay, and i’m sorry for your loss, i’m sure your grandpa was a good man, and he’s not in pain anymore. My grandmother passed away just a week before my father’s birthday. Even if my father was not related to my grandma (it was my mother’s mom), he still cared alot about her and saw her as a friend. My father cried more than most people at the funeral. Some might call him a baby for that, but i saw that as a real man’s heart.
@KingOfFloppas oh I thought it was played through the phone cause there was not background noise, my bad. - my sound was turned down low so I couldn't hear
My grandfather is at the end of his life with Alzheimer’s.. his Alzheimer’s is so advanced now he can no longer move on his own. This made me feel all types of ways…happy and sad at the same time. I love you granddad. I’m so sorry this is happening to you.
@User12702 Alzheimer’s is a cruel, slow death. If it’s the grim reaper, the reaper is a cruel son of a bitch to take my granddad over the slow span of 10 years.
It's amazing how every once in a while you get those moments of lucidity out of them. It's so good to see a loving family member spending time with this man
@@Vizuk1 and seriously It actually is cringe the only reason this video is popular is because of fallout and fallout isn’t even a good game I’ve played it.
btw the song is called We'll Meet Again by Vera Lynn it was sung in the midst of war to encourage the soldiers to never give up (im not american but i heard this story by the comments in the vid)
This is why family is so much more important than friends. Those who will be by your side on your last breath is your family. Don’t take them for granted.
Think of all the friends and acquaintances that man’s had in his life who are now gone. I bet that song makes him feel bittersweet in a way. My grandfather, who was 90 when he died, once said “I’ve gotten to the point where I actually enjoy going to funerals, because it’s the only time I get to see my only friends that are still alive.”
For those of you confused: the loud and deep voice is the camera man. If you listen carefully, you can hear the grandfather singing along. He's much quieter.
So i have actually seen this help calm down residents that are in an elevated and agitated state. If you have the knowledge of some skngs they loved and would listen to often, this is absolutely one of rhe sweetest things to ever see
I work in a memory care home and this helps one of our residents sleep!! And sometimes even will be able to hold a decent conversation too, and it's hard not to be happy seeing them not scared and confused!!
I dont know if your joking around but if you were losing all of what you thought you would remember forever and still remember a song like this it would be amazing so yeah it is so cool he remembers a song from his childhood
Please, give this beautiful soul a hug for me. My grandmother died of alzheiner's, and seeing her withered away and blanke broke my heart. I really, truely, hope the best for you all.
Very beautiful love his grandpa love him even though I don’t know them and this is the first time I’ve seen them on video, but I can feel this is very beautiful. Thank you for sharing.❤
