Exactly what I need❤️🥹 coz I want to make a low budget beanie . Double layer beanie too much yarn to use . Thankyou so much❤️ Watching from PHILIPPINES 🇵🇭
Thank you! My son didn't like the reversible kind of beanies. He likes the idea but felt it was too think but still wanted a brim to it. This tutorial helped.
Thank you for this video. I’m trying to work out how to do either end of a dog snood. Crochet just has no give so I’m thinking maybe this idea will work but it would only be on one end. So I think I’m right in thinking one end with a crochet end and the other using your method. I’ll give it a go later today. Your video is excellent! I’m new to Addi knitting and so is my adult daughter back in 🇬🇧 … Have a great week.
I love your lilting 🎶 “K?” at the end of your sentences! It’s very charming. This is a great tutorial, very good explanations and instructions. I am going to give it a try! Thank you so much.

Another fantastic tutorial Shelley - yay I finally got to see this one too with the double brim. Looks like I'll be making beanies & matching socks & scarves to boot :D Thank you for sharing with us :)
Awesome tutorial! I just started using a knitting machine and decided to search and see if anyone was knitting them single layer. I’ve done about 3 doubled and it just seems to make too thick of a fabric for where I live. I also don’t like using twice as much yarn for one hat. 😝 So I’m going to try this method! Thank you!
Thank you for your great video. I have looked for this kind of hat and brim and BINGO you did the one I need. You are a great teacher as well. GOD Bless for you teaching and time as you have been a great help.✝️✝️✝️✝️🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏👍👍👍👍👍😀😀😀
That’s great! Your gonna love this craft! I’d love for you to join my new FB group if you haven’t done so already. Here is the link … facebook.com/groups/899664008062522/?ref=share_group_link&exp=9594
Go for it! Then show us in my FB group. It feels so good on! I’d love for you to join my new FB group if you haven’t done so already. Here is the link … facebook.com/groups/899664008062522/?ref=share_group_link&exp=9594
Hello GrannyDee! Thanks for watching. The little pom holder is very easy to make. Check out the video for sure. I’d love for you to join my new FB group if you haven’t done so already. Here is the link … facebook.com/groups/899664008062522/?ref=share_group_link&exp=9594
I do a safety line and then pick up the stitches with knitting needles, but this is great for those that don't know how to knit. I just hate doing all double layer hats. Everyone doesn't live in a greatly cold area that needs such a thick hat. Second thing is that it takes too much yarn to make a single hat with double layers verses a single layer hat. Especially these days with yarn prices going up and up like groceries. :( Thanks for the video. I'll try this method and see if I'd like to do it this way better. It's an option.
Your very welcome! Where I live the double layer is essential but on the warmer days this is perfect. Yes, your right, not everyone lives in cold climates so this is a great option. Thanks for watching and commenting! 🥰
This is the same technique used on circular sock machines to create a hung hem . I have often wondered if it would work on the Addi or Sentro. I have the same yarn in my stash so I might need to make this hat to match yours - less the pom as I don't have any of those yet.
Oh Shelley, I am definitely going to try this. I will check out the yarn as well. Most of my #4 “older” yarn is scratchy and the machine don’t like it. Have #3 so May try it also. Thank you for taking the time for another great tutorial. I’ve been using a ravel cord method because I’m not good at unraveling. Glad to see your hand is healing well.
Hi there! This is the pattern to use all that difficult yarn on because it is only 60 rows to slowly help along. Yes….. my hand has healed well. Thank you! How your doing well! 😊
@@koalaknitsandknacksaddicrochet okay I will try! I’ve made 4 dropstitch scarves. Using a double strand of finger weight yarn. They are so soft and airy. Next will be this beanie. ♥️your tutorials. May try the pompom holders too. But for now just using the clover(another great tutorial!). I am loving my Sentro.. but.. got really really selfish and ordered an Addi 👏🏻👏🏻. And more Herrschners yarn. Now have to Stop spending!!! Enjoy your day. Wonder if a double layer beanie could have a drop stitch top (outside)( like a slouchy)?
I tried to find where you made the plastic pieces and couldn’t. Could you send me the link to that video? I just received an ad expression machine and I’m so excited to get started on it. I’ve watched a lot of videos, and so far yours has been the best!
I love this hat , it came out perfect when I made it. I have a question, is there a way to made my colour change tidier on a single layer beanie on the inside ? Has anyone any suggestions?
You got this!! I would love to see it when your done. Here’s a link to my FB group. I’d love to have you join if you haven’t done so already. facebook.com/groups/899664008062522/?ref=share_group_link&exp=9594
@@koalaknitsandknacksaddicrochet I'm already a member..for about a month.. Actually..I sent you a message on messenger, can you take a look please?🙇♀️ Thank you!
I wonder if you could tell me the length of the beanie from brim to top. I use a lot of number three light worsted weight and would like to know how long to knit it rather than count rows. Love the hat❤
Wow exactly what im looking for. A single layer coz its not that cold in our counrty. This will be my 1st project on my newly bought knitting machine. Tnx so much!can i ask by the way what is the purpose of waste yarn?is it really necessary?
Yes it is. If you watch the video I show you exactly why. It helps to to see the stitches you need to pick up. Always use a contrasting color of waste yarn. I have a pattern coming out on Friday that you may like.
@@koalaknitsandknacksaddicrochet oh wow now i know ill watch your vid again i just fast forward to see the finish product. Thnks again for replying.new subscriber here
This looks amazing hunni 😍. I was only just thinking that there's got to be a way to do a single layer beanie, then this popped up in my notifications lol xx
The black marker is permanent and last a long time before I have to redo it but I think nail polish would work beautifully! I like black because it’s easiest to see. I have a permanent black marker and would never use black nail polish other than for that …Lol…. so I will likely stick to this way but ABSOLUTELY…. Try the nail polish! 🥰
I've been knitting beanies on a standard loom for a few years, and added brims the same style as this video, but I've never used scrap yarn to start. Is that necessary on a loom machine?
I find it easier to pick up the stitches that way. Seeing them on a standard loom is much easier and waste yarn is not needed. On a machine, I would say it is necessary.
Hi there. Thank you for your tutorial on this. I'm struggling to make a beanie for myself with a head circumference of 56 cm or 22 inches. How many rows should I knit my beanie?
Number of rows only changes the length. Not the width. Check my beanie playlist. I have a beanie that is made with the tubes sideways so you can make them as wide as you like.
I made this and it was so easy but the yarn I used made some bad stitches. I only have walmart brand or red heart super saver and they both are terrible on the Addie both sizes
Not sure why that happened without seeing what you did. Use a contrasting color of waste yarn so you can clearly see that you are hooking the right loops.
I'm a crocheter, but a knitting friend convinced me to buy a Sentro. Is it possible to do a knit brim like this on the knitting machine, and then cast off and continue a crochet pattern for the top of a hat?
@@koalaknitsandknacksaddicrochet would I then cast off the knitting from the circular needle, before beginning to crochet? Otherwise what would I do with all the stitches..........or do I crochet into the stitches on the needle and then pull it out? Once I connect row 1 to row 20, is one more row of knitting sufficient?
It helps you to see the stitches that you have to work when bringing the end up to make a brim. Or, when you need to work and stitches when your project is off the machine. It helps you immensely. Not every project uses waste yarn but when it’s needed there is a definite purpose.
I did 20 which really only adds 10 rows to the brim width cause it’s folded over. If you do 6 rows then fold over you only have 3 rows of brim width which is very skinny but of course will work. You will also be short 7 rows then for the length. Lol….. know what I mean ? So if you drastically cut your brim length then add a few more rows to the body of the hat. Hope this all makes sense!
You could also use weights!! I use steel fishing weights (didn't want to use lead for obvious reasons) attached to clothespins with a small piece of yarn. I use 5 or 6 clothespins on the king and 3 on the 22 with 1 or 2 weights attached to each depending on their size.
First attempt...made it too long haha! I think im confused on how many rows. So, 20 for the brim... then another 60? So total of 80? It covers my eyes 😂
10:08 tried again several times. here it gets SO tight for me!! On the last 10 ir so stitches i thought it was going to break machine and if i tried to turn the handle it makes the most horrible clacking sound. I couldnt get any more stitches attached so gave up. I have a Sentro not an addi, so maybe thats why
@koalaknitsandknacksaddicrochet ok I'll give it another shot! Do you mean to loosen the tension on the round im working on when attaching or to loosen tension the prior rounds? Im wondering if im not actually attaching stitch #1 to pin #1 which is causing some kind of rotation of the brim and by the time i reach nearly the end its twisted too tight.
