I have spent hours watching your videos and realize my lifelong fascination with knots and ropework is not wasted time. You are a world treasure and I am so grateful that you are generously sharing your very rare expertise with current and future enthusiasts!
It's much larger, but this ring reminds me of the old-timey window shade pulls. I don't know if they still are used, but I went back to my past, when I was little, and could see the shade at the open window in the summer weather and saw the pulls swaying in the summer breeze. Thanks for the memories, mikko. :) This is beautiful in its simplicity. Beautiful workmanship, as well.
Dude I love your stuff but that damn music is driving me to the point of climbing walls using only my hair and a roofing nail. I mute it but keep unmuting it hoping that you're talking LOL..... Yeah yeah, I'm bitching.
Mikko, 3-strand Mathew Walker out of 2 strands? Brilliant!!!! Marvellous. Please tell me it took you years to figure out how to do that. (Coffee on me.) Vernon Johann Pahl,, West Vancouver
Man, I love what you do.😍❤👌🏻 I can't support you and send you mony for all the hard work you do and share for free so I will watch the ads to the end. ☹️
For anyone who's interested, the needle he's using is also known as a fid. The size used is based on the thickness of cordage or rope being used. We use them for splicing end loops into our climbing ropes. Nice to see someone keeping the old skills alive!
If you can follow that, you'll already know how to do the Coptic stitch if you ever try any weaving stuff. Nalbinding isn't all that far removed from this anyways. Also an excuse to make a demijohn out of some old jug or flask.
Mikko; that is beautiful! What a fantastic finish. Everything is so proportionate. What type of tape/material did you use to cover the urethane ring? Thoroughly enjoyable. Vernon in West Vancouver
I haven't watched you for hours I watch you everyday and honestly mikko you are magnificent and very easy to watch. Every day you amaze me. Your talent with rope work is unreal. I have been tying knots for years as I am a retired Master Mariner I always have a piece of rope or Paracord in my hand, I do a lot of splicing but compared to you I know very little about tying knots. I can't say enough or find the words to describe you. You are magnificent even in your bare feet. But where do you buy these lacing needle. I would appreciate a reply from you it would fill my heart with joy. Thank you keep up the great work.
Thank you for your kind words. Luckily, knot tying is not a competition so just enjoy your craft! Like all of my tools, I make lacing needles myself and so can you: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-RJ4gDOykXFg.html
My car's steering wheel is slowly disintegrating in the Oklahoma sun and I've been too stingy to buy a cover, but I'm getting tired of the tiny black bits all over my hands. I think this would be a pretty cool solution. I'm very glad to have found your channel. So much neat stuff to learn! And you've really made it pleasant to watch. Thank you for sharing these skills.
Nice Job Mikko, you've cracked it once again! I like the finish on the hitching, I never quite got there with that yet! You'll have to do a recall and tie them properly!
Hola genial tu video pregunta soy de chile artesano y megustaria saver donde puedo conprar las heramientas que usas y como se llamam gracias por tu tienpo
This is just beautiful. Beyond my talent right now, but something to bookmark for future. Yes, it also looks like the shade pull from when I was a kid! I'm also dying to know how to find a little case like he has for his needles. My husband would love a surprise like that for his needles! Anyone knows, please reply. Thanks.
good craftmanship keeps good rhythm, just like music. Speaking of music, please tell us who that phantastic guitarist is that complements you're work...
@@DesmondScifo First song is "Lighter Shade of Pale" originally by Procol Harum, Second song is called "Summer Breeze" by Martin Tallstrom, Third song I can't seem to find but sounds like another Martin Tallstrom orignal, and the last song is "Forever Young" originally by Alphaville, (probably most recently well known from the Napolean Dynamite movie soundtrack.
nice job, gave it a go, all good until the finish off, practice practice practice, it's interesting to learn about constant pressure on the hitch to get an even look,, cheers
