I got it in about 4 or 5 tries after this! Still have to catch it in the right spot, which ill hopefully have done by this week, but as someone who's never done color guard before this was super helpful so thank you.

It’s a good solid one! We also have the prayer toss, which is similar but another good “praise Jesus” moment!

I personally put my right up at the tape at the bottom of my silk and my left down on the first cheater. This helped me with getting them lower and faster, as well as putting more power in as I developed my double and (in the works) triple

If you get your hand away from the center, that will help you get more rotations out of it. It’s physics!

There are a lot of tosses called pop toss. I actually did a whole video about this called pop tosses 12 ways! It’s really interesting how our our system for naming moves works in colorguard.

That’s interesting, for us we start at right flat, under the silk, then out and catch, sometimes with a cone before

For my guard we put our left hand on the cheat tape closest to the tab

We’ve done that before too! It honestly depends on the choreography going into the toss and we adjust the hand placements in our technique block accordingly.

Yep. That doesn’t surprise me because there are 12,000 tosses that people call “pop toss”. I made a video on this that I think is called “Pop Tosses 12 Ways” if you are interested in why that is!

Hmm that’s interesting. Most moves in color guard have a really flexible nomenclature, but they usually are in agreement on the J-toss being the one where the flag swoops and makes a J shape as it comes out of the hands (though sometimes that’s called a drop spin toss as well). This toss in the video does have many different names, but it doesn’t make any sort of J so I wonder why your guard would use that name?

The farther you are away from the tab, the easier it is to get more rotations with less effort!
