I don't remember sir bobby ever being vitriolic at his players during pressers and interviews. Sometimes you would see him seething and grinding his teeth, but he'd control himself and protect them at all costs. A class act right to the very end. We miss him.
The kindest, most genuine manager to ever grace this planet. Still sorely and dearly missed. First England manger of my lifetime. An absolute gentleman.
I’m Scottish, but as an England manager, have nothing but respect for him. A total gentleman and a fine tactical mind. I also remember the mainstream English press pouncing every time there was a bad result. They were relentless and downright nasty….but full of accolades when he passed away. Hypocrisy at its worst.
His record at Ipswich was in incredible, ok he did not win the league n European Cup like Clough did but got bloody close for 10 years Ipswich were in yje top 6 virtually every season top 3 6 times top 4 8 times runners up twice cup runs semis European runs 2 trophies , small club not a great deal of money but pushed the big clubs for 10 years , played great football aswell
A man whose just handed out the bollocking of a lifetime and desperately trying not to repeat it on camera to the world :D RIP Sir Bobby, one of the true greats.
People forget that in “ that” World Cup England had looked very ordinary and Robson was heading for the chop. They only played well in one match which ironically was the semi- final which they lost.
He was upset because Jenas didn’t give his best effort. Genuinely upset. Not attacking the man, attacking the behaviour, the mind set. Sir Bobby Robson is Football royalty. Son of the North East.
@@triplow1 Jenas propagates the dirty foreigners crap that penalties and free kicks are given to freely against England. I don’t like him. Him and Rio were so confident. On the night Italy edged out Spain Ferdinand said that the neither Italy or Denmark posed any real problems for England winning the championships. Jurgen Klinsmann gave him the eyes when he said that knowing it’s not as simple as that. Italia controlled the game & if it wasn’t for Jordan Pickford England would have lost 1-3.
@@guillezorro Yeah right. Because he did not have a witch hunt against him by the British press. Even the whole "Special One"moniker was a misquote to make him look bad. He said winning the champions league makes one special
@@MWG-qv2hq Yes, humans are perfect. Didn't Sir Alex injure David Beckham? Jose Mourinho has actually won an award for being classy. I will take the opinion of his peers over some random dude on the internet
He still defended Jenas in public and called him a good boy. That's class. Mou would have ran him under the bus, reversed the bus and ran him over again.
@@CoolDude-jp1kj perhaps not, but he won league titles in Portugal and the Netherlands, trophies in England and Spain, as well as taking England to a WC semi-final. Certainly wasn't a given a blank cheque any time he wanted a new signing either...
I have to disagree, Bobby Robson was up there with the best and if he was around today managing a top four club in the premier league he would coming close to challenging as he always knew how to get the best out of his team. He was building something at Barcelona and he was shafted and when he knew he wasn’t going to be around the next season and Louis van Gall was going to take over he still gave 100%. Let’s also remember how horribly he was not only treated by Barcelona but also at Newcastle when they sacked him. Newcastle have been in decline ever since. Bobby Robson will always be in my top three favourite managers of all time.
@@CoolDude-jp1kjnot sure he brought a pretty ordinary England team to within a couple of penalties of a world cup final. That wasn't a great England team. Chris waddle was good, Lineker and Gascoigne too but there were much better teams like Brazil and the Netherlands that didn't get near the final. The Netherlands had won the previous European championships and beat England very convincingly and had some of the absolute best players in the world like Van Basten, Gullit, Rijkaard, Bryan Roy, Dennis Bergkamp, Aron winters and Ronald Koeman. England got further than them and played them on the way.
Wow, time moves on and then RU-vid throws up this curve ball and it’s only then that you realise how much you miss certain personalities and Bobby Robson is one such personality. RIP Bob 🙏🏻
Jenas always thought he had more ability than he ever actually had. He was an average player who had the odd good game for Spurs and scored a few against Arsenal. Somehow he is a pundit for BBC and BT Sport despite being completely out of his depth. Robson was on to something
Definitely. Seen an interview with him saying he underachieved in his career and for England. I was thinking what is he on about? Had a very good game probably once a season, let's be honest, that's about it really lol oh yeah won Coca Cola Cup with Spurs as well if that's suppose to mean anything lol
When he took over at Newcastle he gathered all the players in one room and told them if anyone stepped in his way he's have them out - and to emphasise the point he looked straight at Duncan Ferguson and Alan Shearer on the front row and said " and I mean ANYONE ".
@ezo2161 Mourinho just loved moaning. Fergie was a bully and I take it you're having a laugh with Alan Pardew?! First two were great managers but I wouldn't class them as charismatic.
@@Ese96Agoaye ahhh yeah I think I remember something like that. But I’m sure it was Milner right next to him kicking off saying what are you doing hahaha
As a member of the Tartan army, this man was such a nice human being he made me happy to see England progress in 90. A temporary feeling for sure. But that was the power of the man. You could only wish him well.
Entire tournament undefeated in open play including playing Germany and the longest undefeated Italian team of all time. Only man I can remember to have the bravery to change tactics based on opposition and it worked every time, you're clueless.
Whilst I appreciate the candour in your reply, we pretty much played more home games than at Euro '96! Germany are a shadow of the team they once were - they got beat at home by North Macedonia in a qualifier not too long ago. Whilst GS tactics had worked until the final lets be honest, the 2nd half tactics amounted to having the team retreat 30 yrds back, don't press the ball, and try and hang on in a tournament final for 45mins against a quality team, it was never going to work.
You're right, but previous Ipswich sides during Roson's tenure had been pretty good. His first three season at Ipswich were a struggle- the league tables prove that, but then we had the glory days when Ipswich was a team to be feared, finishing in the top four most seasons and regularly qualifying for Europe. I count myself lucky to have been living in Ipswich when Bobby Robson was manager.
In fairness, statistically speaking, down the middle (not necessarily a Panenka) is the most likely place to score, because keepers almost always dive low left/low right.
Jenas the world's greatest footballer according to Jenas. Sir Bobby the legend, gentleman according to everybody. Nothing but respect and admiration. RIP
Clever Man management, scold the unprofessional behaviour without throwing a lad under the bus .. maybe the BBC should employ Robson types rather than woke HR zombies
This was in a totally meaningless pre-season friendly tournament in Asia and it didn't matter if Jenas had tried to take the penalty blindfolded, backwards, and with both feet tied together. Robson getting upset over trivialities.
What he’s basically saying is JJ wasn’t at that level to be trying that. If R9 were to do that when at Barcelona i very much doubt he would have the same reaction.
Best of Jenas's commentary (during England v Germany, Euro 2020) Mowbray: we’ve not seen a direct free kick scored this tournament Jenas: now, why would you say that? Mowbray: because we haven’t. Jenas: … 🤦🏻♂️
Such a wonderful person and it's a privilege that I fell in love with football and Newcastle United when he was the manager at SJP while I was growing up! Love and miss him dearly.
Jermaine Jenas is a great lad, injuries ruined his career , he was a lovely footballer, and he is now a very likeable pundit, aways been a fan of the lad, really honest and decent young man
I always thought there was something a little off with Jenas. Disingeneuos, deluded,. And then he goes and unmasks himself. Hilarious. Without anyone elses help. When the narcissist gets cocky, they are at their most vulnerable.
