From Season 3 Episode 3 "Sharpe's Sword": On a mission to protect the identity of Wellington's master spy `El Mirador', the dashing swordsman is nearly done for by a French foe. Nursed back to health by a mute young girl, Sharpe continues his search for the man who injured him - armed with a new hand-crafted blade with which to dispatch his attacker.

Simmerson appears in only two novels and is mentioned in a third. He wasn't even in the book of _Sharpe's Sword_ but Michael Cochrane turned him into such a fan favorite that he got to play him in five Sharpe productions.

Colonel Windham wasn't a bad CO either - he was definitely in-tune with politics but he was honest with Sharpe about why he would likely not be confirmed Captain and acted bravely in the assault on Badajoz. Flogging Harper for something he didn't do wasn't good but then again, absent knowing the history, there was no reason he shouldn't have taken Hakeswill's word about it.

It's because it's was recorded on 90mm film which is as good as gets. You take the original master tapes and easily upscale it to HD and 4k resolutions as there's a ton of detail in each frame, the only reason why it would have looked worse on TV is because the broadcast was always down scaled to PAL or NTSC which has a really low output/final resolution.

@@georgeedwards4807 he chases after leroux with his hounds because the ensign was already killed taking him to the rear. Leroux ends up killing him instead as windham blocks sharpes shot.
