I wonder what time frame this was supposed to be set in. Louis Phillipe wasn't king of France until 1830. Unlikely that a geriatric Sharpe would still be in the army.
This is like a fresh officer coming in and ignoring the advice of his multi tour sgt.Why bring in the battle worn expert if you're going to ignore them.
Every time I watch this scene, which is often, I enjoy something different about it. This time it's Leroy's subtle looks of disgust at Simmerson when he lies about Gibbons and Sharpe. It shows exactly what he thinks of his commanding officer. No doubt Wellesley would have seen it too. So many subtle mannerisms from all the cast involved.
@@wallythewondercorncake8657 isn't there a scene where after brand kills those French soliders with those guns that don't work sharpe says to ross he knew and ross replies we had suspicions about Brand
I genuinely feel bad for the Marques. He was cheated by his wife, who he actually loved, to the point where he would duel any man who tried to lay hands on her, was cheated in the duel by Sharpe, and was eventually murdered by Father Padre and El Matarife.
🤘🤘🤘Just love how there’s literally electric guitar while these battles take place.😎😎😎 I gotta say this is like literally just absolutely depressing watching how major Lennox was in so much regret dying, letting go of the colors of the king of England. 😢😢😢Now technically it wasn’t his fault but still he really had that responsibility. Even though he lost his life at least, sir Henry was reminded that he was at fault. In the end major Lennox is death will be avenged🥲🥲🥲
In the books, Wellington's relationship with Sharpe is characterised by the general's awkwardness over the fact he owes his life to Sharpe; a commoner. While he acknowledges that Sharpe is a splendid soldier, he's still embarrassed that he's gutterborn. It's much less pronounced in the TV series where Wellington is more of a paternal figure but he's still awkward around him regarding the debt.
The subtitles would indicate that the plan was to completely destroy General Calvet's powder reserve, yet the title of the clip talks about destroying just 10% of General Cal's powder reserves!!
@@johnfitzgerald9245 Hah! Horse Guards! You may not Horse Guards me, sir. I am well aware of them, and they are well aware of me. Is Lord Fenner Secretary of War, or is he not that position, sir?
Did any mushrooms distinguish themselves? Lieutenant Portobello led the advance, Sir. You may say he is tied to me by blood, but is it a tie of blood to tie my tongue and rob a brave fungus of his just reward? No, Sir! I recommend Lieutenant Portobello be gazetted duxelles, Sir.
