The word Legend is over-used these days. Jack Brabham was the only man EVER to design his own car and win a Formula One World Drivers Championship with it. He was the pioneer of rear engines. He was part of the Bruce McLaren story too having acted as a father figure for him and smoothed his entry to F1. He was also a gentleman. A modest man who had every right to not be modest. Sir Jack Brabham was a Giant of motor racing and an Australian that makes me proud to be from Australia. One of Australias finest sons. Rest in Peace Sir Jack.
I was wondering if any others were aware of this fact that he designed, built and raced his car to a world drivers championship. I too am an Australian and he, Sir Jack will be the only person to ever achieve this feat. RIP SIR JACK. John.
R.I.P Sir Jack although I never got to see him race it is a priviledge to have met him at the Australian GP this year. You will not be forgotten in the motorsport community and will always be remembered as a true blue Aussie legend.
What a huge privilege it has been to listen to him speak about motorsport over the years. Such an awesome driver, very knowledgeable. Will be a great many people will celebrate His life and all that He achieved. God Bless you Sir.
Also, it must be comforting for him to pass on knowing that he had lived to see all five of his offspring become successful drivers in their own right.
