always loved parky.... used to watch him as a kid in the 80s and amazed at rhe guests he would get on...made them touchable in a way and made me dream ...RIP Michael you were a rocker and a legend!

In 1985, whilst touring in Australia with a major artiste, I spent a very genial and fairly lubricated evening with Michael in the bar of the Sebel Townhouse Hotel in Sydney. What an engaging and clever man. Cheers, Michael.

That accent of one of the greatest Yorkshire men has been missed on screen fir a while, now he has left for good, there is no one like sir Micheal Parkinson on that level of pure skill, warm charm a professional that made tv Gold always , to his great wife, Mary and his sons and extended family and friends , and uk my condolences. With all the great tv talk show host like Johnny Carson Barbara Walters Oprah Winfrey Michael Parkinson was the genius and as I have just watched the very best interviews he always made his guest at ease granted Johnny Carson and Barbara Walters interview mostly everyone the most famous tv stars never refused another talk show person you should watch which I have been watching on tubi is the Dick Cavett show respect to Micheal Parkinson family from a lkiwi in mew Zealand RIP😊

Wow, I never saw this in November. I grew up watching his interviews in the 2000s as a child / teenager. He was iconic, a staple interviewer, and natural… what you saw was what you got. Rest in peace Michael.

This was actually his penultimate appearance He was interviewed by his son at Talking Pictures TV event in March which I went to see. It was an hour long interview & it was absoutley jam packed with people At the end, they literally did a montage of all his most famous interviews to My Way, which actually made me teary eyed. It was quite obvious that this was his Swan song & that he was never going to appear in public again

Parkinson was two things, he was in place at just the right time, and all those stars he interviewed were still around, as he says here. So we had some extraordinary insights and moments, with Peter Sellers, Billy Connolly, Muhammed Ali and so many others. However, he was one other much more important thing, a listener. And 95% of the time, that drew the interviewee out and gave us those magic moments. Now the interviewers just talk interminable shite 95% of the time (like Richard Madeley is doing here) and don't let their interviewee get a look in.

Micheal Parkinson was certainly right about football - the fans, the ordinary fans who follow football, have now been totally forgotten and only billionaires seem to reap the benefit. The world has changed a tremendous amount since I was a teenager back in the 70s, and sadly, a great deal, if not most of it, not for the better. Rest In Peace Sir Michael, you do not have to worry about the awful state of the any more.

He asked intelligent questions then listened and never interrupted his guests. Genuine curiosity and made his interviews about them not him. This kind of interviewing does not exist any more. RIP Michael

The features of some people totally change in old age as they get close to death. And Michael Parkinson is a typical example. He has had death written on his face for a while now. His features became gaunt, his nose became even more exagerated, his eyes were sunken & he had that vacant look in them as if - 'the lights are just about on, but everybody is asleep. He became visually unrecognisable. This doesnt happen to all old people as they near death but Michael Parkinson is certainly one of them that it did. But what about his wife Mary, I havent seen a pic of her for ages.
