Most honest review channel on RU-vid. There's no doubt that Far Eastern made instruments are very much on a par with USA made guitars these days. Unfortunately being an oldie, having Fender on the headstock still means a lot to me, but watching these videos I understand how younger players (I'm 64), shun the big 2 for quality guitars like these.

I'm 60 and wouldn't dream of wasting vast sums on a US guitar, if only we'd had access to rge superb cheapies of today in the 70s, I might've learned to play properly

I’m right there with both of you guys. I’ve owned all of the “ big boys” in guitars and made a living doing so. I’ll never spend money on a high end F or G anymore. Cort and these guys make wonderful guitars regardless of your experience level and for a very responsible price.

This Sire is just plain beautiful, headstock to strap button. Those rolled fretboard edges I'm sure make it like butter to play. We're absolutely in a great time when the quality starts at a very low Harley Benton price and it filters upward to a Sire like this.

I must admit, although I absolutely love Strat's ( in the right hands ) I have never really found one that sits well with me ( except for my Burns King Cobra - I absolutely love that guitar ) I have always gravitated more to Tele's and semi hollow bodied guitars. This one, I suspect, may be a different story. I love the look of it, the sound of it and that roasted maple neck must be a dream to play. Don't make the mistake of letting it go John. It really suits you in every way brother x

I bought a cheap affinity 2 years ago when I decided to learn guitar (no point spending money on something I wasn't sure I'd stick at). Two years later I'm still putting in an hour or two of practice everyday, so I guess I'm committed now :) Not saying I'm any good, put I do put some time in. I bought a Gretsch Jet BT Electromatic G5220 in Casino Gold a few months ago. Made in China RRP around £520..I managed to buy one for under £400 from GAK. Anyways, the build quality & finish are superb for a guitar that price & plays great! Agree..why pay over £1000 ++ for the US made big 3, 4 brands? I've been mulling over whether to go for a Fender player Jaguar just to have something quite different from my Gretch Jet. I watched another YT vid (Darren ?) comparing the Sire S7 against a Fender player Strat & it seems the Sire S7 won..$200 cheaper also! So, thanks to you John & an honest, clear & great sounding demo of this guitar....I reckon I'm going to buy me one! ..in transparent black! ..but first, to keep my darling wife happy, got to sell a guitar I don't use! 🤗

I bought the very same S7 guitar when they were first released. I wasn't a big fan of the pickups so swapped them out for a different set. I also had a Freeway switch selector mod fitted which gives x10 series/parallel pickup options rather than standard x5. My other guitars have been very much neglected for ages now. Sire also released a Tele and SSS Strat in the same range but I haven't tried them yet. Its a really nice guitar to play.

Hi there, I just received my S7 today, blown away by the quality of the build and 'playability' of this guitar! But yeh, I agree with you about the pickups... compared to my Vintera Series Jazzmaster, which has been my main guitar for the last few years, I feel the pickups on the S7 are lacking a bit... there still great, cristal clear, but not quite the same punch... what pickups did you swap them for? Has it improved the sound a lot? Thanks :)

@@ChrisDeJuanMusic Hi. I used an independent pickup company.. Hot Tone Pickups who were recommended to me. They were hand wound. I chose an Alnico 2 for neck and middle and an Alnico 5 for the Trembucker Bridge. I prefer them to the stock pickups. I also had a Freeway switch selector mod fitted which gives x10 series and parallel combination tones rather than the stock 5 positions. I would recommend it. Cheers.

Great review of what seems to be a fantastic guitar at a brilliant price point. When you used the Dumble clean amp plug-in the clean tones were amazing (great plug-in by the way. As everyone knows Carlton uses a real Dumble. Wonder what it would sound like with a ES335).We shouldn’t be too surprised by the quality of this guitar mind because I could not imagine Larry Carlton putting his name to something that was rubbish.

Earlier I asked to test this guitar so I am grateful for this video. I can add that I agree with your experiences. I've had this guitar for almost a month and it turns out to be a hit! You compared it to a player, well I have a Fender USA stratocaster whose original pickup I replaced with custom '54 pickups. This one, the Sire, has still a more powerful "Fender" sound. But also in other areas; for example a bone nut where my Fender still has some kind of plastic and what about the beautiful thinned place where the neck is in the body, which makes playing there nicer? This has really been thought about!

I thought the humbucker sounded awesome. Plenty of balls but with clarity/articulation/feel. I thought the neck pickup clean sound did not sound hugely "stratty" to me - although I did quite like it. The "in between" (positions 2 and 4) were pretty decent. I quite like the middle pickup of a Strat on its own....but don't think you used that position in this video? I listened back to you playing the Player Strat and for me I prefer the pickup voicings on there...but would take the humbucker bridge from the Sire over the Player bridge pickup.
