Two years after Dim Days Of Dolor mastermind Morten Veland presents the ninth Sirenia album: Arcane Astral Aeons once more reflects the Norwegian`s love for title alliterations and succeeds in infusing the darkest night with the brightest colors. Who could resist a symphonic, unbridled opener like ‘In Styx Embrace‘?
Singer Emmanuelle Zoldan`s ethereal mezzo-soprano voice connects all 11 varied and spirited compositions: the insanely melodic ‘Into The Night‘ impressively showcases her abilities and flows into the catchy ‘Love Like Cyanide‘ that`s not even afraid to employ a small handful of black metal trademarks. Danish producer legend Jacob Hansen managed to harmonize Sirenia`s more soothing side with edgy metal sounds and delivers a perfectly balanced wild ride. The most compelling release so far courtesy of Morten Veland!

1.= Perils 1.= TSLP 3. Arcane Astral Aeons That's my personal rankings. And these are my all-time favourite albums by any band, as only MaYaN's Dhyana got to equal first position so far. Retribution's Corpus Antichristin Y3K is on the way to equal AAA.

I've always really liked the 13th floor. but Seventh life path really resonated with me too, so much that I bought the canvas print of the album art. Love this band.

@@serj-mtb EVOLVED. No matter how much I loved the first 2 Sirenia albums, it was a clear pure sheer evolution. From gothic death/doom in the beginning, up to a uniquely beautiful mix of symphonic, gothic, power, death and even some doom traces after Perils included (except for Dim Days of Dolor), as here death is slightly being replaced with black. From a mix of 3 genres to a mix of 5 or even 6 genres. I value variety. And they did it. That's an evolution of a band

Before anyone can say she don't belong in Sirenia. Let me educate you. She has been in Sirenia for 13yrs. She was the vocals in the Sirenian Choir that does the choir background for all the albums Sirenia has done. She is not new to Sirenia.

I wish the real video of this track. This are a great single. Amazing lyrick and powerfull sound. This album it's a great job of Sirenia in the last five years. This is the original Sirenia.

First heard of them through ITunes recommendations in the lead up to “Dim Days of Dolor” hearing that album got me hooked, haven’t listened to them since then really, only just rediscovered them and this song got me hooked again

Whoa, old Sirenia sounded ... well ... pop and meh to me, this is something else. Amazing tune, getting early Nightwish vibe, powerful! I wish they could've made a better music video ... maybe they have a chance to revisit it.

Agree. Sirenia is about to become my all-time most favourite band with one or 2 more albums like that because Perils and TSLP are my all-time favourite albums alongside MaYaN's Dhyana and Arcane Astral Aeons is my N4 equally with Retribution's Corpus Antichristi Y3K. So far, they are equally first alongside Evanescence, Lacuna Coil and Epica as my personal clash for the best band in symphonic metal is between Sirenia and Epica with a probably slight edge for Sirenia just because of small style preference.

@@evacody1249 And btw, Delain aren't symphonic metal too. For a band to be called symphonic, it has to have elements from classical music - opera (e.g. early NW, Xandria, some Epica), choirs (Epica, Sirenia, Xandria, Diabulus In Musica, Haggard, Therion, etc.) or full/big orchestra (Ignea) - some classical instruments just as addition won't work. Delain has neither of those. They have a simple keyboards. Pseudo-symphonic metal.

Since Ailyn was kicked out of the band, the views of the band has gotten lower and lower. It is such a shame that this video has not racked up over 100,000 views as yet. The lead singer is not marketable. She has only a dark coloured voice and nothing else.

All of their latest videoclips look the same. Also, they sound like a hybrid of Nightwish and Xandria. However, Zoldan sounds way better than in all previous songs and should continue singing like this.
