While working on this 2002 Acura TL I had to do a SiriusXM tuner, so it was a great opportunity to show what's involved when installing satellite radio tuners. The hardest part would be running the antenna. I like to put down a thin film of plastic to protect the paint and run the line through the firewall for optimum reliability. The rest is straight forward as you'll see.

Hi Anthony, I bought a JVC model kw-r930bts and I have an older xm module model gex- p920xm. The connections are totally different. Is there an adapter I can put on the end that goes into the stereo? Or do I need to get a new serious xm receiver? Also... which model would be good with my radio that won't hurt my budget? Your video is awesome cause you explain everything thoroughly. Thank you in advance

You'll have to get a new tuner unfortunately. Good thing is they're cheap.

If the car came with Sirius/XM already could you just use the OEM Sirius antenna already installed in the car? Thank you, Nive video!

+Fred J. Yes in some cases you can slightly modify the plug and plug it into the new tuner.

Where do you source the plastic film you put under the magnetic antenna? I can't seem to locate anything specifically for this application.

That disassembly process required to change out the head unit in that Acura reminds of doing an install on a '04 G35 sedan. It is not fun.

Hi I have a question I have a 2007 350 Z I’m going to install the XM Sirius satellite radio modular can I use my factory satellite antenna in my car as many people do and if so where is it located?

You totally can, I'm not sure where the tuner is located in these cars. You might have to take apart the plug in order to plug it into the new module

Anthony my question is this by adding this device I won’t use my data plan rather it will work as my oem radio already with Sirusxm installed whereas the signal is found by the antenna. I was told I could run off an app but then I would have to have WiFi. Also I’m hoping I can utilize my antenna already on my 2014 Tundra.

You should be able to use your original sat antenna. You will have to get another subscription if you use the module found in the video.

Try to use the factory antenna or place it on the trunk lid with adhesive

Can you not just place this inside your car on the dash or upside down on the windshield like most new factory cars?

Most factory vehicles have ìt on the outside somewhere on the roof. There's only 2 satellites in operation so it needs to be outside for best results.

+The Beige Wonder Good question. I like them both a lot. Pioneer definitely has the better display (on the NEX series) and I prefer navigating through menus and finding songs with them. Kenwood is a better value but tend to be slow in comparison to do anything. Kenwood does have Garmin GPS and the ability to tune for vehicle acoustics is quite impressive. I personally run a Pioneer double din head unit in the Interceptor and the 350Z will be getting a Pioneer NEX as well. I install a lot of Kenwood, so it's not like I'm totally biased. I just prefer the Pioneer interface.

The Beige Wonder Yup I wil. I'm in the process of wiring the car and installing sound deadening material. Some time in the new year I'll have the head unit done. Lots more videos to come before then though.

No because I tried to use the factory SiriusXM Radio module on my new Kenwood DNX572BH and it didn't work. That was on my 2010 Chevrolet Cobalt. So yes, you will have to buy a new SiriusXM Radio Vehicle Tuner (Model: SXV300V1) for your new Kenwood in order for SiriusXM Satellite Radio to work on the new Kenwood or Pioneer.

Yup you can, do it all the time. The trick is to remove the clip. You can also get adapters now.
