While manual cinema lenses can be more challenging to handle, they reward you with a distinctive character and beautiful images. A T1.2 lens is also relatively rare, making it an excellent choice when paired with a crop sensor camera like the Sony FX30.

Thanks! I do use only SD cards for my work - Sandisk SD‘s are very reliable. I use V90 or V60 cards, with which I can record 90% of the codecs and framerates. When you shoot up to 60p you can also get away with V30 cards.

Hi Christian! Thank you! I tested it on the FX30 and the ZV-E1, but on both cameras focus map wasn’t available. So it looks like this feature only works with auto focus lenses.

if you were to get one of these lenses as a good all arounder which one would you pick? i might purchase one to try it out on my a6700... thank you

I would pick the 35mm. The 75mm has the most beautiful look, but is too long for an allrounder. The 24mm is also a bit special, also heavy and only f2.8. If you like the 35mm you could add the 75mm later on, which is a killer combo.

Oh, thx! It´s shot in Slog3. XAVC-S 10bit, 422 and than graded. But sCinetone works also fine - especially in low light and for quick turnarounds.

Most of the time I use Mark Bones film luts as a starting point and grade from there. He’s a Sony shooter and has Luts which work very well for SLog3. That image was looking pretty good. I'm torn in between the Night Walker, the Saturn, the 7Artisans cine lenses. It's a sci-fi show, which means anamorphic is a good choice, with real-world scenes of Earth before it gets destroyed, which means also too the cine lenses could work.

Hi! I think for that genre an anamorphic lens would be the better choice. I don’t know if you’re shooting full frame or aps-c, but the SURUI anamorphic aps-c lenses deliver great value for their affordable price. @@captainfilmmaking Herein lies the problem: I'm looking at getting the FX30 for my green screen virtual production with Tamron 11-20mm f/2.8 AF lens. I'm looking at the Sigma FP for the real-world shots, which is full frame L Mount. The Sirui Saturn is T2.9, which doesn't let in a lot of light. The Night Walker is T1.2, which is going to be able to be used in low light. Will the Saturn 35mm be enough to film everything? I can get the 24mm, 25mm, and 55mm for less than the Saturn.

From my experience one of the weakness of the FX30 is, that it doesn't perform that well at it's second base ISO of 2500. It's get's noisy quite quickly. It's not a big deal if you can control (and increase) the lighting or you're willing to do noise reduction in post. Otherwise a T2.9 lens with the FX30 in low light wouldn't be my first choice. The Sirui 1.33x anamorphic lenses are F1.8, which lies in between. But the gap from T2.9 to T1.2 is huge. That's about two and a half stops of light, which is like going from ISO 800 to ISO 4000.

@@captainfilmmaking The Sigma FP with Sirui 35mm Saturn T2.9 anamorphic lens is probably lower noise than most Hollywood movies. The FX30 is rock solid for green screen, you probably won't notice the difference between that an an FX3 as you will be shooting below ISO 800. That Tamron 11-20mm f/2.8 lens is perfect for green screen, but that is 30mm after crop compared to 35mm Saturn. The Tamron will have a super sharp look that may not be the right choice. It's good to have a standard focal length for your show, but I can't move my camera back any farther. The background for the greens screen is rendered in Unreal Engine and Aximmetry. I'm not sure if I should to also use an anamorphic lens for the green screen to get a unified look and feel.
