Been seeing a few videos pop up about these lenses and I’m seriously considering trying one out with my GH6. Great footage my dude. Love the content.

Great video👍 Even though I have moved to Full Frame now, these setups really do temp me to M43 again. Such great affordable lenses 😊

I’ve been close to buying the 24mm for Fuji. I’d like a wider one and I think they’re going to release one in the future.

Loved your video! Just confirming - I have a Lumix GH5 and I bought the Sirui 24 T1.2 lens. When it asks me what should I put as a focal length, I will put 48mm right? Thank you!

Makes me think a GH5 II or GH6 with Lidar and cine lenses like this with a focus pulling motor would be literal Hollywood. Next review, DJI Lidar 🤘

what ND filter were you using when filming the daylight shots? Thanks you for all the content you provide. I’m 70 years old and listening to you is like listening to my son (with an accent) help me with tech issues. I have pre-ordered the GH9 II for video. I currently shoot my video with a GH5. Thanks gain!

I think that the Sigma primes offer a creamier bokeh than Sirui and Lumix lenses, what's your thoughts?

From what I've seen, you're right. I just don't have any sigma lenses.

Thanks Shane. Your footage looks great. Wondering how well the Vivid profile deals with the large dynamic range. It seems that most profiles (aside from V-LOG) get really nuclear highlight rolloff near white levels. Did you underexpose and then bring up levels in post?
@GeekyNerdyTechy
@GeekyNerdyTechy 10 месяцев назад
All I did was reduce the highlights in post. The footge is basically straight out of camera. :)

This footage looks really really good. Never used the vivid color profile but it seems to be very good. Does it look the same with gh5 and gh6?

I usually would avoid vivid as well but in natural sunlight situations like this, it works great on the G9II and GH6.

Since these are lenses intended and build for S35 sensors, the crop calculation shouldn’t e different? Something X around 1.3 or something? Can you compare with other full frame lenses and reply about here, please?
@GeekyNerdyTechy
@GeekyNerdyTechy 2 месяца назад
The sensor takes into account the crop factor.
@victorhugoroque4009
@victorhugoroque4009 2 месяца назад
@@GeekyNerdyTechy yes, but the FOV of a FF lens and a S35 designed lens are not the same. The S35 has an 1.5/1.6 ish crop in relation to full frame. That is easily shown in many videos when you put a S35 glass on a full frame sensor. There’s a black circle in the part of the sensor the lens didn’t cover. So, you are right. The sensor works with the crop factor, but the field of view equivalent for full frame would be different.

So the image circle of this lenses covered the full frame sensor, so the focal length is given for hence the 2x for getting the equivalent in FF.

I am pretty sure they are all similar minus the mounts - so it comes down to the sensor size. :)

The focal range number doesn't change on any lens, regardless of the size of sensor the lens is made for. The "mm" number isn't the field of view, its the physical distance the light travels from the centre of the lens to the focal point (the sensor) and that doesn't change on any camera mount, large format to 1 inch. Always the same. He doesn't need to test it because this is how crop factors work.
@victorhugoroque4009
@victorhugoroque4009 2 месяца назад
@@jockslifeatliftvideoproduc8528 sure. That’s why on a s35 sensor the lens fits and in a full frame it has a heavy vingnette and you need to punch in. 👍🏽👍🏽

@@victorhugoroque4009 Dude that is the image circle, not the focal length. They are 2 different things. How do I explain this simply? A lens made for S35 can be physically smaller because the size of the image that comes out can be smaller. If you were to be able to magically just make the glass wider without changing anything else it would be able to fit on a 35mm sensor, you'd just be able to see more... hence the crop factor. None of this changes the physical distance the light travels from the centre of the lens to the focal plane. Once again the 'mm' is not your field of view, its a physical number based on a physical characteristic of the lens design. This is why crop factors exist. a 12mm lens on a M43 looks like a 24mm lens when compared to full frame because the sensor is smaller and is therefore capturing a smaller part of the IMAGE CIRCLE produced by the lens, when you blow that image up to the same size, like by looking at it on your phone, the effect is it looks more zoomed in. That doesn't change the fact that its a 12mm lense. If you're buying a standard f2.8 zoom lens specifically made for M43 they aren't labelled as a 24-70mm f2.8, its a 12-35mm f2.8 because of the crop factor and the fact that the physical distance the light takes from the centre of the lens at it's widest is 12mm and at it's longest is 35mm.

@@victorhugoroque4009 Dude that is the IMAGE CIRCLE, not the FOCAL LENGTH. They are 2 different things. How do I explain this simply? The lens is made for S35, meaning it can be smaller because the final image doesn't need to cover a 35mm sensor. It's like a cutout, the final IMAGE CIRCLE is smaller. That doesn't change the focal length. Which as stated before is a physical element of the lens it is the distance the light takes to travel from the centre of the lens to the focal point, the effect of a smaller distance is a wider FIELD OF VIEW. That doesn't change regardless of what sensor the image is being projected, what does change is the size of the sensor and therefore how much of that final image is being seen. Think about this. If I want to buy a standard f2.8 zoom lens for my M43 camera, specifically designed for M43, what are the focal length numbers listed as? Its not 24-70mm, even though its made specifically for M43, it's a 12-35mm f2.8 the focal length isnt changed for the sensor size. Because of the crop factor the look of a 12mm on a m43 looks like a 24mm on a 35mm sensor, but if you put the M43 12mm lens on a 35mm camera it will have a heavy vignette as the IMAGE CIRCLE is designed for a smaller sensor.
