After two Cricuts and almost buying a Silhouette I almost cried when I saw how accurate it cut my stickers after soooo many failed attempts and wasted supplies.
Hi! I feel your pain😅 I have been through 5 Machines. 3 Silhouettes, 2 Cricuts and a Brother Scan N Cut so I am... terrified, for lack of a better word, to try yet another... rather pricey, machine. Has this machine been worth it for you? Thanks in advance!
as someone who’s mostly familiar with working with industry machines, specifically rolands, I think this is the first hobby cutter I’d consider getting. the fact that you can dial it in at every step is very nice, precision is key. I definitely think this machine is for a more advanced market than some people realize 😅
Thank you Angie! I love that Siser heard our frustrations with the Cricut Print then Cut limitations and gave us what we been asking for. The only cons [IMO⁹] I see with this cutter is 1. the lining up with the rollers especially since everything looked flushed. 2. The moving of the blade to the box, I feel like it would be easier on us all if the cutting blade would automatically go to that spot on it's own. 3. looks like alot of new owners are going to cut off vinyl due to how quickly the blade housing moves .
Great tutorial Angie!! Thought I wanted one but now I don't. Don't like that you have to move the blade in a specific location for the print and cut. Also, when not using a mat you have to make sure you have a straight cut edge then feed it through and then you have to make sure the edge even. That's a lot to tweak before cutting. Tracey
OK your video was the first I saw on this machine 9 months ago, and now that I've seen more about the machine and the great work they are doing to expand the software I had to come back and say I wish I got the Juliet! I'm now kicking myself that I got the Solo Starcraft 9 months ago because I don't care for the software so much. Tracey
@@ImADish I did end of getting the Juliet and really like it! I'm starting to learn the software though as I am a long time Silhouette user and absolutely love.
@@TYJ419 Okay, I'm sold! Thanks for saving me time and money. The software looks very intimidating, but I think we'll be much, much happier in the end.
I recently got one specifically for the larger print and cut capabilities. However, I didn’t realize how much tweaking we have to do ourselves before we can even start that process. Ugh 😩 I wish that was something more automatic that the machine would do itself. Maybe that could be part of Siser’ upgrade? In any case, thank you so much for this very detailed and amazing video. I definitely look forward to seeing more about the programming for it to help me navigate through.
Hey i just buy this Juliet cutting, you explain it so lovely. now i cant vait to get the mashine.. it sems like very easy to use. gonna be fun. THANKS and Hugs from denmark
Thank you Angie - I always trust your reviews. In all honesty, the only things that make me want this more than my Cricut is the large print/cut options and possibly the pre-sets for the price. I'll keep waiting on Design Space to hopefully make that print/cut larger - :)
I heard about this by accident in one other craft cutting video. Then I saw it in the suggestion on RU-vid. You did a good job of going over the key features for the machine. It sounds about as loud as a cameo. It seems to be pretty fast. Certainly faster than the others like Scan N cut, Cricut, Cameo. I do like that it has a built-in camera to help align the design to the printed material or just the material itself. In this way it is something like the usefulness of the Scan N Cut.
Thanks for such a thorough review. I have a Scan N Cut, and this seems like a more manual version of it, geared towards vinyl, obviously. For the price, thinking Scan N Cut gives more options. Was curious about this, so thanks again. Hoping you will be able to get a Loklik and review it.
Seems like a pretty cool machine. It seems like there are an awful lot of settings to go through before you actually get to cut the design, though. I'll never be able to afford a machine like that on my income, but it was really interesting to see how it works.
Placed an order for mine tonight. I'm looking forward to seeing the blade options that will be released. Would be nice to see you explore other materials that it's able to cut.
Thanks for sharing this unboxing video, this also reminds me of my Brothers Scan and Cut. I also have that machine and a Cricut Maker, for now I will stick with what I have.
Sounds like a Silhouette Cameo when it is cutting on the video. I would love to hear it in person. Everyone says it is quieter than Silhouette. Thanks for the in-depth look!
Great video as always for this interesting new machine. It peaked my curiosity so I was looking for more details about what materials would be compatible such as wood, fabric, etc. I went through dozens of sites which did a poor job on that particular aspect. Before I invest, I would need all the info like other cutting machine brands offer. Regardless, you did a wonderful video for overview because you did make me curious enough to consider a future purchase. Thank you for keeping us informed about products out there. It has helped me greatly.
The GENERAL rule with cutters other than those that specify otherwise, is that if you can cut it with scissors, you are good to go. None of the craft machines do anything detailed with wood, just basic shapes, often needing multiple passes. Fabric will depend on type and stability. Usually crafters apply stabilisers to fabric to ensure it does not pull and move during cutting. You can cut things like thin, flexible plastics, make stencils and templates, that sort of thing. If you want to cut acrylic, plywood etc, you need a CNC not this kind of plotter. CNCs use routers and can cut wood, metal etc. They come in many sizes, from desktop to VERY large ones for wood shops.
My thoughts - go with Scan N Cut but use Silhouette Studio software for anything more than basic. Brother Canvas Workspace is good for basics. The Scan N Cut is pretty awesome without any external software - lots of inbuilt options and designs. I think they start around USD$300
Hi Angela I love your videos. I watch them just for fun even though I'm not a crafter (yet... 👀)... Just a note: deutsch (doi-ch) is german not dutch (not that it really matters, but for future reference)! Thank you so much for all your wonderful videos! You do such an excellent job every single time!
Today (August 23, 2023), you can purchase the Juliet from Brilliant Vinyl for $299. I don't know how many units they will have for that price, but getting such a solid machine for $200 less that MSRP seems to be a great deal.
Haha, this thing seems like it was designed by every disgruntled Cricut and Silhouette crafter. I actually would LOVE to get my machine to start cutting from the bottom left!
Great video introduction to this new machine. It does seem to have a lot of the same features as the Brother Scan and Cut. I have both a Cricut and the Brother machine. To me, in my opinion, the Cricut is much easier to use. My Brother machine has probably only been used a couple of times. This machine is pricy, think I'll stick to my Maker for my project needs.
Hi, I’m looking for machines that do the scan and cut features. I have a brother but it doesn’t always pick up the images from a pre printed fussy cut sheet. Do you know any machine that is good for this? Ty
Great demo! Reminds me of sure cuts a lot and original expression machine. Yes I’m that old in the game! Also, my interpreter side wants to say “Deutsch” is German 😊
@@AngieHolden girl you would hang upside down to bring us all the “T” on a new item. Not faulting you at all. I was an interpreter for over 20 years in ASL and took 3 years of German in school. Helping my sister in crafts out from afar! Haha
Thanks for all the info Angie. It seems pretty nice but for me it seems a little expensive and I don't want to learn anything new. I'm pretty happy with my Explorer Air 2.
@@dianachau7857 Die cutting means you cut all the way through the material, kiss cut is for doing vinyl and stickers etc where you need to cut through the top surface and keep the backing in tact. The video above demonstrates die cutting.
Hopefully Cricut will up their game. Good competition always lights a fire. Seems like a cool machine, though. Wonder how difficult the software will be. May be the point of decision.
Lady Angie, thank you. Let's see what will take place with all these cutters. Certainly a very good review. 👍 Can it write like in the design space nicer and more complete than cricut
This seems to have too many steps to actually start cutting. There doesn't seem to be any standout feature that would convince me to switch from my Cameo 4 pro to something like this. The Cameo 4 also cuts with or without a mat and it also cuts rolls indefinitely. The Cameo is also very easy to use compared to this, it's also smaller and honestly a much better looking machine. Thank you for the video!!
Have you done any more videos using this machine? I'm thinking about this for my business in the future, but would like to see you using it more first. Thanks
Thanks for the video, Angie! Interesting to know the differences! It reminds me a lot of my Brother Scan N Cut but I'm curious to learn more about the software. I must admit, the Cricut software is great, especially the ability to cut multiple layers without having to hide other layers before cutting. I do like the aspect of being able to cut without a mat like Cricut. Anyway, I wonder if we will get them here in Australia? We get Siser vinyl stocked here so I would imagine that we'll get them eventually. Thanks again!
This machine is being sold for over $400. I have not seen anything that would make it more valuable then other popular machines. Also. How does it work with card stock
Any info on how much cutting pressure it has? Would like to know how it compares to other machines when cutting leather, balsa etc. when they come out with other tools/blades.
great machine Angie..but for me $499.00 for a machine that only cut faster than my Silhuette and my Cricut Maker..i dont see a pen tool scoring tool..just cut faster like my lazer cut plotter...thanks for your time in making this video
I do like it however I find it a bit confusing to use. I was hoping for a simpler software update. I am just not sure my audience would like it the way it currently is.
@@lashundarice5869 Thank you, I have called Michaels Corporate office twice, send them a copy of the receipt and still no response. No one seems to know anything when I call, they take my info and say they will forward it on to someone. At least I know they give it but for some reason I didn't get mine.
Hi, Thanks for a great video. Two questions : How does the Juliet work with transparent photo paper for print and cut ? Can I lay out a full 8.5 x 11 page in photoshop, save as a png, and import without having to re-manipulate the files ? Thank you.
Cricut has 4 kg max of cutting pressure and silhouette 5kg so able to cut thicker denser materials . How does this machine compare? I feel it's not exactly an entry level machine.. More geared towards the user who has at least some experience with plotters. The blade depth needs to be manually adjusted which can be complicated. In your opinion is it more for the vinyl crafter/small business owner? As a prevalently paper crafter albeit with 17 years of experience with plotters, having to make my own settings for all the thicknesses of cardstock I use would be exceptionally time consuming so maybe Siser could add starter settings or suggestions to the software. I'm intrigued, not sure when we'll get it here in Italy.. Crazy considering Siser is an Italian company!!!!
Supposed to be Mid November for Europe. Since this is more of a pro type cutter, settings are dependent on too many variables to be set in stone and are therefore only ever going to be a guide.
It uses the space so much better than Cricuit for Print then Cut. Im always crying inside when I have to throw away the wasted material for Cricuit print then cut. Having said that, won't be buying another machine just for that but good for those that need to buy a new machine.
Update? And has anybody figured out a way to score with the Juliet? I really (really, really) want/need that. I do know a tool is supposed to be coming, but I was curious if the blade could be turned upside-down and pressure/speed adjusted for that?
Hi Angie! Thanks for the video. I found it very informative. I just picked up my Siser Juliet tonight. I haven't totally unboxed it yet. I wanted to look at some video's first. I wanted to ask if you know anything about cutting rhinestone templates on the Juliet. Did they show you any of that in Italy? Thanks again for another great video!
does the length of material matter? if i am only doing eg 5cm height font what length material should go in? do i need the material to cover the entire mat? or can i go use 7cm length to leave enough room to cut? Assuming i would also need to resize my layout in the software. I just purchase my siser tonight, so I have yet to do my first cut. 😊
I'am not computer good so I will stay with my brother 650 .I can use it easier .I love it it is easier to used .But if I was better with computers this would be a nice machine .
I have a Cricut Maker 3 and although I'm a sucker for anything new, I wouldn't buy this if it becomes available in the UK as there is too much tweaking needed for me. Good for people to have options though as no-one machine suits everybody..
At the moment the software is not yet complete. It does not have the functionality of say SCAL or Silhouette Studio YET. I am told they are working really hard on it. No subscription fee on the current software, unsure what the payments will be for future Pro versions. So, at present, if you are designing your own work, you will probably want to design in something else and import the SVG.
If you are cutting a roll and machine starts at bottom left then you would most likely need to feed material from the back , right? And roller attachment would be on the back. I don’t see using this machine on a shelf like I do my Cricut but having to place it on a table
i bought cameo 4 in april 2022 , and i need another one cause my project is starting to grow , and this machin is realy cool it have no sound , so i was wondering how i can commend it ,????
Of course! OK, so for anyone coming to this late, here is the honest truth from someone who uses the smaller Juliet and who has plenty of cutter experience. I have used the Juliet for over 6 months now and love it. Leonardo design software for the Siser cutters now has two versions, the basic which is free and the Pro which is $8.99 a month (free trial till end August 2023), or the option to use off brand software, SCAL6 which is purchased for under $50, or the dearer Pro version of that. Only commercial users are likely to need the Pro version though for multiple machines etc. The cutters are great, you can cut what you want. The rule of thumb is if you can cut it with scissors then you are good to go. Matless cutting on all vinyl, no matter the brand. Cut card, flexible plastics, paper, faux leather, make stickers, the sky is the limit. There is also a stand coming out soon for those who need that.
Hi, can you scan in a pre printed cut apart sheet, that normally you would fussy cut.. And get the siser to scan the full sheet and do the fussy cutting for you, ty
@@AngieHolden I have asked so many different people and have so many different answers lol.. Please please try it, I’d love to know, and if you do please reply here so I get an email…ty ty ty ❤️
I purchased a used machine and I can't use it. It says the serial number is already used. Now I can't get a hold of the person that sold it to me. Is there any way I can get around this?
I’ll be curious how everyone handles the mat buckling. The middle roller causes the mat to buckle with repeated use. If you reuse one of those mat while cutting smaller pieces of vinyl it causes scratching. I’m not sure if moving the roller to edge is the solution or what others will do to solve. I was cutting a lot of card stock and stickers.
This middle roller is an issue that Siser are currently looking into. I think that as a vinyl company, they were less aware of the implications of the third roller for paper crafters. There is, I believe an adjustment to the roller pressure and if that is the case, lowering the pressure may improve that matter. However, having a wheel travel over your card stock, marking it and possibly making it adhere to the mat in ways that are not desirable, needs to be addressed.
@@createinspain thanks for the info. It does it with htv and perm vinyl as well. The constant use of the mat causes it to buckle. I use up my scraps but ruining 3 mats to get my project completed was aggravating. Hopefully it will get fixed.
Hi, I love your video. I do have a silly quetion. Can this machine do a die cut and a kiss cut all in the same time? Like if you die cute a sticker but wanted the inside of the sticker to be kiss cut. Can this machine do this?
I am curious most about the print aspect in regards to sublimation for tumbler wraps. I currently use silhouette but the interface of the siser program is so close to Design space. Is the program free?? hmmm
For cutting without the mat, is the vinyl a smart vinyl like cricut joy uses or just regular vinyl like you would use on a mat with a cricut explore air 2?
